Star vs. the Forces of Evil |OT| I'm From Another Dimension

Dang, Running with Scissors was the business.
I can't wait to see the full extent of it's effects on the characters.

Also Hekapoo is a charmer, she's right up there with Janna in the best secondary characters of SvtFoE list.

Damn right! I'm so glad she was bumped up as a secondary character even if it took Marco's friends being of phased out.

...

Hmmm, was there any given explanation for that?

Man, these last few episodes have been astounding.

Baby nearly destroyed Star in her evaluation. You could literally feel her ripping away at her insecurities. Similarly Hekapoo's game pretty much changed Marco. I honestly wasn't expecting
him to be there for 16 years
but I'm highly betting this isn't the last we see of that world or its effects on him.

A lot of this season seem to be dealing with each characters' individuality. Star is a completely different magic user than anyone in her family with the exception of Eclipsa and Marco doesn't really fit solidly in one place.

I liked how they used Baby's words in the end of the episode and you realize
"she doesn't know basic magic" means she only knows ADVANCED magic.

No explanation. They were just phased out because they were characters that nobody (rightfully) liked.

What does that even mean, H-poo? What does that even mean?

Running with Scissors felt like a somewhat dumbed-down "The Inner Light". Feels like it could have done more with the concept if only they had more than 11 minutes to work with.

lol
I kind of forgot that those previous friend characters even existed.
I guess the crew got tired of them or something.
They really were kind of annoying, and they were also cliche loser/nerd stereotypes that we've seen a million billion times before.
:P
Janna and Jackie are much better replacements.

Now if only we could get the SvtFoE crew to put Princess Pony Head on the bus...(To be fair I do kind of like her, but it's mostly for her strange AAVE meets valley girl hybrid accent. Jenny Slate is great lol)

So I've just started this today, finished up episode 8 (Blood Moon Ball and the introduction of Toffee.) Some episodes are fantastic (the Muberty one was excellent) but a lot of them are kind of bland. Does the show get better? I'm enjoying it enough so far but I am curious to know if the quality improves as the show goes on.

It gets better. While the less plot/lore heavy episodes are noticeably weaker the show really finds its identity towards the back half of season 1 and the throughout all of season 2. The supporting cast has been written much better in the second season too.

Great to hear - interesting to know that lore and plot become semi-important. I've been waiting on Saint Olga's since minute one of the show.

Agreed. I am now looking forward to the Crystal Clear episode since their is an opportunity for more Hekapoo and Marco interaction.

If you stomached up to episode 8, you'll be fine continuing the series, Lore episodes feel like there is too few, but that makes them extra specially, plot really ramps up on Season 2.

Finished season 1, great finale but I felt that
bringing the wand back right away felt like a cop out.

Hopefully season 2 has more Janna. She's dope.

So there seriously gonna let ludo keep the spell book and become a credible threat huh?

I See there taking the 'we create our own villains' approach like TMNT does

If you think about it
He spent 16 years "getting to know" Heckapoo, that's longer than he's known absolutely anybody else in his entire life in Echo Creek.

You could figuratively make an entire show about
those 16 years. Marco Diaz vs The Mark of Heckapoo. Rated PG-13. Edit: no, The Marco of Heckapoo

why did I get emotional at the ending of that dumb dog episode

season 2 premiere is easily the best episode so far. Was interesting and hilarious throughout, quality so far is definitely higher.

Just caught up with this week. Wow. I mean Baby was good, but Running with Scissors was something else. I'm in freakin' love with Hekapoo. I love how this throws yet another wrench into things with shippers. I'm really intrigued what they're going to do with Marco. Will this be like the Inner Light where they never mention it again or will Marco's mental age and experience play a part in future episodes. Most of all, I just hope we see more Hekapoo.

Edit: Just realized I totally misspelled her name. Fixed.

That last episode really messed with me. I mean, if they stick with it, then
Marco is a 30 year old adult who's basically been stuck back into his 14 year old life. Dude has been on his own longer than he's been with his family and friends. Normally I'd expect a show to play it off as a gag, but that last bit with the password makes it seem like the writers know what they did.

I kind of do hope they don't sweep it under the rug. I think there's some really interesting story potential there.

Episode was decent, thought it was pretty funny actually.

"Inner Light"? Are you guys referencing another cartoon show?

Really liked this. Very Adventure Time in its approach.

Also, I feel like this episode reinforces a low key theme that has been hanging around since episode one.

I find it interesting that there is an AU in the show where Star is simply just Mina Loveberry.
It makes me wish we could've spent a little more time in the various AUs rather than just briefly flashing to them.
:P

The episode was sneaky about Marco since nothing on the ep indicates they're going to ignore the ending of the previous one, so i guess we'll have to wait for the next one.

I haven't seen today's episode yet but I'm betting that we won't see the full effects of Running with Scissors till
All Belts are Off
at the earliest.

EDIT:
well we might see some Heckapoo and Marco interaction in Crystal Clear but I'm not expecting any of his skills he learned in the other dimension to be shown off in that episode

His observation of "some things just have to end" is streets ahead from where he was in the previous episodes. Just blank acceptance.
