Star Wars Battlefront II Official Gameplay Reveal

Finally got around to watching some real gameplay. Looks sweet as hell.
Although.. I do hope they revert back to how third person was in the previous game. I can only imagine it might have to do with the corner peeking advantage you had in third, but I don't really see how this completely fixes that. I also want to see my character in all its glory, damn it.

Yea it looks really shitty and lazy which is strange because I'm a pretty sure 3rd person is the preferred view.

Looks more zoomed out on the players when you have a jet pack I think.

Will wait until we see proper gameplay and all the modes / content the game provides. Skipped on BF1 because of this lack of content.

I like that they are steering away from the season passes. Maps should always be free, less division of players into separate hoppers.

Have they said if more heroes are going to be announced? I'd be really disappointed if Obi Wan didn't make it into this.

Obi Wan has to be a lock. I'd be surprised if you couldnt play as Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan and Alec Guinness Obi-Wan given the range of enemies already shown.

Man, seeing that opening firefight on Naboo is a stinging reminder of how badly Lucas cocked-up the prequels. Lots of cool visualry that was overshadowed by a terribly dull plotline and insufferable characters.

Not sure if posted already but Gamestar spoke with Dice Producer Craig McLeod on the topic of microtransactions. Most important gist of the story is that star cards still have direct impact on gameplay thus lootboxes contain not only cosmetics. Quickly translated:

"Yes, starcards have direct impact on gameplay. However it is important to understand that one cannot buy a specific card. Cards are selected randomly. Perhaps in one crate is the card you are looking for but I might be a card for another character as well. Furthermore it is important that you can unlock everything for free. As not paying player you get the same content as somebody who buys it. It is more like a time saver and no Pay2Win."

"JackFrags‏ @jackfrags
Rey has a mind control trick ability in Battlefront 2 that inverts your controls if you get hit by it... ultimate troll move."

Didn't read through full thread. Couch co-op sounds good. But is it console only? I'm assuming it will be because this is what most games do even though there's no reason for it in 2017. Have they specified?

I'm interested to know how exactly the system is going to work. Of course there's no mention of how quickly/easily one can earn loot boxes without paying. Are they planning on having duplicates in loot boxes ala Overwatch/Battlefield 1?

I don't want to know that it's a time saver if you pay. I want to know how much longer it's going to take me if I don't pay. Hopefully they go into more detail on that.

only thing i need is them to announce is that they will be using server browsers to make this game perfect other wise we are going to go back to being in match making for a hour just to find a half full game while everyone floats around joining and leaving unfilled lobbies

The shown map looks like a giant clusterfuck in some areas. It also seems too small for some of the larger vehicles.

And I didn't see any first person footage. Is it gone?

In for the campaign and space battles. I doubt I'll play the multiplayer for more than an hour, but that's okay. Less chance to be confronted with their in game store bullshit.

Can someone explain to me why Finn and Phasma are being added later as free DLC when they could just be included in the base game?

Because it's all free?

I don't understand why you are asking this question.

"Because it's all free" doesn't work as an answer to the question?

I'm asking because I'm confused why they're advertising Finn and Phasma (who's character models are already completed, seemingly) as free DLC, months in advance of the games release, as opposed to just including them in the finished game? It's obviously not to charge people, because the DLC is free. So what's the incentive for delaying their inclusion in the base roster only to offer them a few weeks later for download? What's the benefit for either the studio or the players?

Can someone explain to me why Poe and Phasma are being added later as free DLC when they could just be included in the base game?

I assume it's because they want to ensure that there's some new content people can look forward to within a month of release with those new characters and the Crait map probably coming around the time of TLJ's release. A consistent stream of content ensures people will keep coming back.

Thinking about it, this makes sense. Thank you.

If this has a proper conquest mode it'll feel like an actual Battlefront game. I wish Star Cards didn't make a return, but if that means free maps then I'll deal with it. Hopefully we see carrier to carrier space battles like the original Battlefront II as well.

I kind of wish they regulated the heroes to their specified era, would have made the era you're playing in a bit more authentic, but not the biggest deal.

Benefit to the players? None.

Benefit to the studio? Marketing. "Look at us and our free DLC!!" That's it. There is no other magic or secret to this. Don't overthink it.

As far as the loot crate system goes.. it sounds a lot like Overwatch's system, which can be either good or bad depending on how you look at it. As long as it's all cosmetic stuff like in OW, I don't have a problem with it. But they should keep weapons and actual game-affecting stuff as part of the game's unlocks as you level up or whatever.
