I'm sure it will be even faster.Johan wants to patch in DX12 at some point. We shall see.
My point was that just maybe a competent DX11 implementation is not as much a scourge on parallel performance as people were claiming back in the Mantle days.

Man all this talk of the graphics and then I see that chart and my R9 270 isn't even on it. Is it even worth trying? I have a 4670, R9 270 and 16gb of RAM, powering 2 1920x1200 monitors. I would only play really if I could get close to 60fps...

Hi there,
Excellent thread, just what I was looking for!
Does anyone have any experiences or thoughts on how the game will run on the following:-
GByte GA-Z77-D3H Z77 MoBo
Intel Core i5 3570K - Overclocked to 4.6Ghz
16GB CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 XMP
2GB EVGA GTX 670 PCI-E - Core clock 1228 / Mem clock 1652
Been looking at pulling the trigger on a 980 Ti for weeks since the BETA but I am struggling to come to terms with spending £530 on a graphics card...
Many thanks.

Is this maxed out? Guess my 280X has a future after all (assuming my 4670K and 8GB aren't bottlenecks for my 280X, hell probably the other way around)
That's a beefy overclocked i5 there. How are your temps and how is your voltage?
I don't think I've ever seen a game of this caliber run at this level at launch. It's both the best running and best looking game I've seen since I started gaming on PC. Amazing
To those disappointed in TAA and FXAA, using SweetFX's LUMASHARPEN works to re-sharpen the image to give back detail that the AA turns into blurry Vaseline.
I followed the same steps here as for Fallout 4. Just changed the exe to Battlefront's. I also recommend this for FO4, of course. You download one program and follow just a handful of simple steps to get much improved AA.

Here are the comparisons. 1440p (cropped smaller) all Ultra:
TAA
TAA + Sharp
FXAA High
FXAA High + Sharp
No AA and no sharpening
All are using 1.90 sharp_strength in LUMASHARPEN - SweetFX.
Although FXAA High + Sharp looks the best in stills (imo), I find that in motion TAA+Sharp has the best results. FXAA, even with resharpening, has noticeable shimmering. I'll be rolling with TAA + Sharp for now.

My RAM upgrade did help with the >1440p resolution problem. I am not hitting 60fps though so I might scale back anyway a bit![]()
Awfully quiet in here <_<
Nobody played it or nobody has technical issues with the game?
What motion blur % setting is everyone using?
What does the setting even do? Are there any comparison images out there?
While turning, the weapon (or in 3p the character model) remains sharp , while the environment turns into a blurry mess. This is intended to simulate fast movement and can help in 30fps games or to help with frame drops and inconsistent fps, but I do not like the effect to be honest. It's turned off for me.

im assembling a pc in january(4670k,970)
worth waiting ? considering the game depends on community i hope it doesnt die out .
i can still get it on ps4 rnow...how big is the difference?
900p on High settings (everything) with TAA upscaled to 1080p (at least close to ps4 settings)
![]()
1080p on Ultra with TAA
![]()
1080p + 20% in resolution + FXAA high (That's how I prefer to play the game on my 970; locked 60fps).

I sure hope nobody is playing with vsync turned on. The locked 60 might be amazing, but the input lag is going to be horrible.
Woho. Just tested this... really much higher responsiveness. WTF?!
What's the difference between different AAs?
In pictures, TAA looks blurry but is it better in motion?
Performance-wise, i've understood TAA is more demanding?
And would dropping AA but increasing render scale give even better picture?
I really don't know anything about AA in games in general. For years, i've always turned of anti-aliasing because i haven't had a computer that is powerful enough to run with it (or in case of older games, i haven't just bothered to use it).
Currently using High FXAA because that was the default and everything else was Ultra (no Vsync, Freesync is superb).
The game runs superbly and perfectly, basically locked 79 FPS. There's some stuttering in the beginning usually though, i assume it is because the game loads assets etc., it vanishes soon enough. EDIT FPS according to FRAPS. I assume it is correct. Still wondering if 79 is some quirk of Freesync.
The only graphical glitches i've seen where in the Beggar's Canyon (or whatever it was called) intro, the X-wing engine lights flicker; and the skybox in Hoth is bugged, clouds are visible only sometimes.
Specs:
Core i5-6600K
16GB DDR4 2666MHZ
MSI R9 390, latest AMD beta drivers
No overclocking.
I'm gonna test this out today.
Forced Vsync via Nvidia Control Panel
No Vsync
Software Vsync
Will report results later.
Playing on a 970 and I'm getting some texture pop/fade in, is this normal?
Also is the default field of view OK or should I increase it?
Apologies for quoting myself, anyone any ideas? I've only just returned to PC gaming after a long absence and I'm a bit rusty.
Battlefront FOV slider is vertical but people usually talk about horizontal FOV. There are calculators available for converting vertical value to horizontal.
68 vertical gives 100 horizontal, which avoids fish-eye effect (assuming 1080p resolution) while being reasonably wide. Seems like a sweet spot to me. It is largely a personal preference though.
Good FOV probably depends on your viewing distance as well.
As I have no idea how bad they are... most probably yes. What are your settings?
Normally people like to adjust fov to at least 90 in first person shooters. But in my humble opinion, play it in 3P mode. Way more effective than 1P and 90 fov.

Thanks for the replies.
I set the preset mode to Ultra, which I assume sets all the individual settings to max. ( on a 970 with an i5 2.5k and 8 GB RAM), getting a smooth framerate. Tbh it's not actually that bad, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it so I assume there's a dodgy setting in-game or in my GPU settings.
I'll play around with the FOV and see what I like.
