Star Wars The Force Awakens: SALARY, how much they got paid.

Ridley and Boyega will be fine. Even a 0.1% is a cool 2mil, plus they'll be paid more in VIII and IX - and Ridley was a complete nobody.

Heck, hat's off to the casting team for making nobodies stars again. Hopefully they don't crash like Carrie Fisher did. Typecasting isn't as harsh as it once was, and Rey isn't as prominent as Luke was, so she'll probably be fine.

I wonder how much Williams got paid. I always feel like a big, big part of Star Wars always was his soundtrack.

Well, he might not be as rich as Ford (since voice acting doesn't pay nearly as much as 'normal' acting, despite being one of the highest paid voice actors), but he's been really smart with his money and has been getting a huge amount of work. The thing is, Mark Hamill doesn't really seem to want to be a well-known actor, which is why he specialized in voice acting roles, of which he has a shitload.

Mark Hamill is basically just doing whatever he wants to do (which explains his role on The CW's The Flash) and making bank. He might not make as much as someone like Ford, but he doesn't really seem to care.

Well yeah, he works consistently and it's not like he's struggling to get by and he's certainly getting a hefty pay day for the new Star Wars and he deserves it. I'm sure he's pretty happy and certainly does stuff because he wants to do it, like coming back as the Trickster on the current Flash series.

I would think he's worth more than that assuming he didn't sign his image rights away for a lump sum at some point and spent it all.

You would think so but they might not have the merchandise cuts or residuals. I could've sworn at one time I heard they did but then I never saw info on it again. People back then weren't really looking at merchandising that closely something I'm sure the suits at Fox regret not keeping to this day.

1.
He was the anchor of the original trilogy, the one legit actor they had for all three movies.

2. He agreed to come back and do the insidious press junkets.

3. He's 73 years old.

Also he probably doesn't love Star Wars. But without him, people wouldn't be discussing how the movie would be taking JP or Avatar's records.

Which is kind of funny when you consider Mark Hamill was the one with the most experience between him, Fisher and Ford at the time, or at least the most credits. But yeah, Ford was the best actor outside of Alec Guinness and got his own film series.

Didn't work so well for Jake Lloyd though

Lloyd was a little kid who wasn't a good actor though and like most child actors his career dried up when he got older because because he could no longer rely on being "cute" and couldn't make up for it elsewhere. Puberty is the worst thing that can happen to a child actor's career. Writing that reminded me of the predatory/pedo aspect of Hollywood, now I feel icky...

It kind of applies to adult actors/actresses who basically get by on their looks too.

For, Luke was more important for the seqels than Luke.
However, Fords salary is certainly well deserved, I am sure many came to see him.

salary for Boyega / Ridley is completely fine, they're newcomers

i second that.

People didn't buy tickets to this movie because of Boyega and Ridley. They did because of Abrams (talented actor), Ford (beloved character, well known actor) and the Star Wars franchise.

They will, however, make bigger bucks in future films.
As opposed to Hamill's career, i do think TFA / Star Wars is Boyega's, and - most definitely - Ridley's big break.

Didn't work so well for Jake Lloyd though

people hated kid-Anakin, people hated teen-Anakin.

People love Rey and Finn.

Never forget

harry-potter-net-profits.jpg

Is this dealing with net profit or gross profit? It is talking about gross, so does that mean Hollywood accounting can not only make net profit disappear but also gross profit?

Damn JJ made $46,000,000 this weekend alone.... I need to become an actor.

Your maths is wrong. He actually earned $460 million from this weekend alone. Dude has got himself a great deal.

Insane risk there and I always feel sympathy for him

The dude was eight or nine when he was cast in Star Wars. I try and remember myself as an eight or nine year old, and then try to imagine being put in a global infinte microcosm of scutiny which continues to this day, focused on a production in which highly experienced adult actors barely came off ok.

And then he didn't get a second shot to put it right because the story didn't allow it, subsequently leaving the guy out to dry

I'm amazed he's still alive frankly.

Yeah, I don't think he's a good actor at all in TPM, but the blame for that is 90% on Lucas, as he got shitty lifeless performances from fucking everyone in the prequel trilogy, including greats like McGregor, Neeson, Portman and Jackson. Even the best actor can't do a good job when they have to stand in a green set talking to a tennis ball on the end of a stick. Lucas wrote a terrible script and cannot direct actors for shit.

A Disney source told the Sunday paper: “Harrison is the key to making this movie work. He’s the link between the old generation and the new. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were good to get, but the film could have lived without them. You couldn’t make it without Harrison Ford.”

Kiera done ok.

That was barely more than a cameo.

The prequels were only really damaging for the two terrible actors who played Anakin, neither had any talent and got the roles based on their looks/agents. The established stars who were in them like Neeson, Jackson, Lee, McGregor did just fine afterwards, and Natalie Portman was too talented to let such a shit role ruin her career.

Ford either A) genuinely loves being in movies like this or B) is trying to get as much money as possible just because. I mean he is already rich. And old. What's he gonna do with an extra twenty million at 73 years of age? He could have easily just passed it up. I guess he just enjoys being in movies though. I mean he's been in at least one movie for the past few years and has more lined up.

Well to be fair I never heard of the actors that played Rey, Finn, Poe or Kylo so I can see the smaller pay check be justified

Those actors will make more in advertisements and appearances too so that's good

You had to get Han Solo the god back, everyone loves Harrison Ford

I wonder how much Williams got paid. I always feel like a big, big part of Star Wars always was his soundtrack.

I read somewhere that she is a pretty famous script doctor. Coming in to polish scripts for big movies.

I agree that it's good they cast rather unknown actors in big roles for star wars movies.

He has like five kids. Easy to understand.

It didn't need Ford, but whatever. That part worked for the most part. The real stars are the new people and they deserve anything they get. Hope those box office bonuses are big if they are going to get 300,000 per movie.

I don't think I would complain if I got five times the average household salary for a few months of shooting. They'll be fine.

Ridley and Boyega will make significantly more on future movies. Look at what happens to the salaries of Bond actors as their star power increases - Daniel Craig got $3.4 million for Casino Royale and this year got $39 million for Spectre.

39??? No wonder the budget was 300 million. Cray.

whats spoilery about it O_o

people didn't think the big three were going to be in these films or something?

You implied larger role, which would have set expectations. I went in thinking Luke would play a similar role to Han, with as much screen time. If I read hat I'd know he'd have a minor part, that's what I mean.

I've been in total blackout which would explain the OCD spoiler fears.

Boyega and Ridley will be fine going forward. These movies will more than likely be the biggest thing they play in but they'll have work after this no doubt. Both are fan favorites but John is constantly out in the public eye. He's definitely leveraging this opportunity.

Those lead actor salaries (except for Ford, of course) are lower than I expected. But they are pretty "new", I suppose (Ridley completely so). Still a lot of money for a few months work, of course.

Well you add on top 2 more movies + recognition, it's a sweet deal. Then also having points (albeit probably small amounts) will still end up giving them a nice sum of money.
