Star Wars: The Last Jedi first poster.

It doesn't look like an Apple ad at all unless you associate anything with curves with an Apple ad.

The curves in this doesn't even look like it lives up to Jony Ive standards.

Again, it's not just the curves, it's the curves along with the white background and the whole lot of whitespace that surrounds the whole thing (especially at the bottom) and the contrast in colour between the picture and the white. It's the combination of the four which makes it feel like an Apple ad. For example, I have no problem with this, even though it's similar, due to the differences with the sharp edges at the bottom:

I can see what you're talking about. It kind of looks like a phone or tablet with the red part as the wallpaper. It looks great on my tablet so maybe that's what they were going for. I assume the real poster will be more visually similar to the rest.

It's okay for a cluttered mess.

Nah, this one wipes the floor with that IMO.

I'd like the one for TFA if they cut out a half dozen characters/elements. Great layout, then they stuffed everyone in there. WTF is Maz on the poster for?

The final one for TLJ will probably be just as overstuffed, sadly. That seems to be their approach to these, still. They seem to have more leeway with the teaser posters.

I actually like cluttered Star Wars posters that fit in as many characters as possible, as well as the minimalistic ones, I really like TFA's. One more like the special editions would have been nice too.

The film that had really weak posters was Rogue One.

What were the TFA teaser posters? Don't remember

I like simple, striking images. TFA poster isn't terrible, but there's nothing... iconic or symbolic about it. I get a stronger feeling from this particular image, like it makes me think and looks closer to an OT poster. TFA poster is "here's every character." Composition isn't bad, it's just way too full.

Ironically, in terms of SW theatrical posters, I always thought it was the Episode II poster that knew what it was doing with the cluttered character look. Even with Mace Windu awkwardly hanging there.

What is Kylo Ren's mask for? Vader's was literally life support.
Kylo isn't the only one to wear a mask just because. Darth Nihilus and Darth Revan both wear masks for no apparent reason AFAIK. Well, no important reason. Though IIRC Nihilus' becomes apart of him later on.

But likely for Vader worship

Though if I were a sith I'd want a mask.

Nihilus Mask spoilers:

"The mask of Darth Nihilus was one of the pieces of armor that Sith Lord Darth Nihilus had bound to himself using the Force in an effort to retain a semblance of a physical form."

Revan Mask spoilers:

"During the early skirmishes of the Mandalorian Wars, this mask belonged to a Mandalorian female. In 3973 BBY, the mask remained on the shores of the Outer Rim planet Cathar after the woman's death during the Mandalorians' attack on the world. Ten years later, the mask was pivotal in the Jedi Knight Revan's efforts to find evidence of the Cathar species' genocide; Revan claimed the woman's mask as his own, vowing not to remove it until the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders were defeated permanently. One year after Revan and his faction of Jedi successfully defended the Galactic Republic and vanquished the Mandalorians, Revan declared himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith and ignited the Jedi Civil War. Darth Revan wore the mask up until his capture by the Jedi Order."

So there is a reason, but as for Kylo Ren, it's probably because he wants to be like Darth Vader.

Well for Nihilus he had the mask prior to that right? At least that's how I understood it. It just became part of him after.

And I know Revan's mask has significance but it's not like, providing him life support or anything. Arguably it's on the same level of Kylo wearing a mask, considering his grandfather was one of the most powerful sith and force users ever and helped found the empire, so you could make the argument that it's homage to his grandfather and his position and him following in his footsteps.

What is Kylo Ren's mask for? Vader's was literally life support.

According to a lot of lore outside the movies, Vader's mere appearance lead to a lot of fear mongering rumors which could be a useful thing for a sith. Very few even knew he was Anakin. Theatrics... like Batman.

Not a poster but the cover of the junior novel was kinda okay IMO:

Ironically it's the one Drew Struzan cared the least about if I recall correctly, as Lucas told him to just imitate the poster of Doctor Zhivago and Struzan wasn't too excited about that request but still did it:

I loved Rogue One's theatrical poster, but disliked TFA's. IMO Star Wars teaser posters are always better than their theatrical counterparts.

TPM's teaser poster can never be bettered.

I feel this is a temporary poster so as to not reveal much.

Upon first glance, but I've never liked a portion of characters standing there ready for their pic to be taken while others are about ready to get into a fight. The whole thing just feels off once you notice it.
