Bunch of random gameplay pics here: https://forum.gamer.com.tw/C.php?bsn=34481&snA=77
They really could do it in more creative way by giving some in-universe explanations like "your oxygen reserves are getting low," or "this area is highly irradiated" or hundred other sci-fi reasons. Instead they went for this basic "boundary reached" shit.
Hasn't it been confirmed to be the tutorial area, so it has boundary limits? They really could do it in more creative way by giving some in-universe explanations like "your oxygen reserves are getting low," or "this area is highly irradiated" or hundred other sci-fi reasons. Meh, the boundary is a small matter. Apparently you need to walk in a straight line for like 40 mins to trigger the boundary for the planet. Most people who play aren't doing that shit lolThey really could do it in more creative way by giving some in-universe explanations like "your oxygen reserves are getting low," or "this area is highly irradiated" or hundred other sci-fi reasons. Pete Hines full of shit again
1000 planets
with only a tiny spot to be explored on each

I agree, it's not that big of a deal, but if I'm spending 40 minutes walking and you randomly stopping me from walking further then give me better reason other than "you can't go further because we say so". Just give me something to suspend my disbelief.Meh, the boundary is a small matter. Apparently you need to walk in a straight line for like 40 mins to trigger the boundary for the planet. Is this from gamescom?

Pete Hines already confirmed it, Todd states in the direct you can land anywhere you want and walk the planet.
At this point yall choosing to be ignorant.
15:18-15:30
Player sets his own destination to land...but then decides to chose a predetermined one.
As for the walking across the planet. I don't have proof, only the knowledge that it is technically possible in other games and the hope that Bethesda did it and are not lying about it![]()
It's clear what is meant by 'entire planet'. Zero ambiguity there.
He says something is likely to be in a current Bethesda game because they've had it in their old games.
You counter by mentioning something Bethesda has omitted from all their previous games.
How is that an apt comparison?
So anyways... what did we learn today?
this was so obvious from the gameplay they showed and knowing the limits of the engine. It was always going to be a bunch of predetermined spaces. Come on guys, you seriously didn't believe the PR speak fuck, you have too look thrown thier BS sometimes.
So it seems that when user lands his aircraft on planet it marks this landing spot as middle of player's playable area. That means this technological problems boils down to coordinates precision. Get too far from the middle and things start to get wonky.
87 MC incoming.
so you admit that it was PR speak. Especially when you phrase it as "Technically"You can still explore the entire planet if you land in a different zone. You CAN land anywhere on a planet.
You can technically 'walk' the entire planet, just not seamlessly.
Dont forget there are multiple biomes on a planet and multiple zones with different resources. So it would make sense you would reland on a different spot.
Nevermind the fact that it takes 40 minutes to walk in one direction before you get that message, and Skyrim takes 20 minutes to walk from one edge of the map to the other.
That video you posted is evidence of the fact you can land anywhere on the planet you want.
Oh no I can't walk for more than 40 minutes in baron wasteland of a planet.
You can walk the entire planet in Starfield too. No man Sky is not a rpg.You could walk the entire planet on No Mans Sky, at launch.
Just saying.

Does No Man Sky even let you stop in the atmosphere of a planett when entering? I can't remember, it's been way too long since I played. Plus NMS doesn't even have decent combat mechanics, again from what I recall.Well like I said you have a space of twice the size of Skyrim to walk around in. You can land in a different spot/biome on the same planet.
Sure, but like I said you CAN land where you want, and you CAN explore twice the size of Skyrim in that one cell.
If you want you can land in every cell on the planet. Different biomes etc.
No Man Sky doesnt have actual quests, factions, character creator, companions, romancable npc's, the agency to tackle every mission every way you want, hundreds of different interesting POI's, loads of weapons, items, armors, skilltrees, dialogue trees, explorable cities..
This isnt a space simulator, its a full fledged single player rpg.
Flat Earthers lining up to buy copies as we speak. That the planet is not treated as a round object.
Creation Engine showing its limitations here, but still fine as they're huge areas.Bethesda marketing always something of "technically correct" . What they promise usually was in the game , but function ? Kinda....
Just for clarity, yes you can. You could even build a base in the air and land on it in the clouds.I havent played NMS since launch window, but I dont think you can 'stop' the ship while going through the clouds in the atmosphere.
Damn I guess your right. Sorry to doubt you
A dissapointment a bit but doesmt.matter in the grand scheme
So basically you can explore every inch of the planet if you want.
Yeah im excited for the game but that definitely takes wind out of the sailsThe 1st half of that sounds fucking terrible. Wtf.
As far as Im aware there isnt any time limit whatsoever. You must have read the post wrong, he says its about 30 minutes (but we've heard 40) in one directioncan the 30 min limit for exploration be extended?
I mean even walking for 30 minutes straight that's a huge circle to explore before having to move your ship and do it againwhen you've got 1000 planets, i don't know how many times you'll be hitting this boundary lol
I've been bummed by things I'm hearing but the comment about the random stuff and rewards sounds fucking amazing. I didn't know that was a thing.
You can invest points in your boostpack making you practically an Iron ManIt would of benefited of having the option for designing ground vehicles imo . Walking around could get tedious .
Completely agree. I was wondering why we haven't seen the player using vehicles on planet. I'm still excited, but if this is true, my hype is deflated quite a bit.Yeah im excited for the game but that definitely takes wind out of the sails
