I fomo'd in and just bought the Pro for 739 on amz. Its a bestseller there currently lol

Welcome to the team!

They should have never made a 60 fps version for Base PS5.

Jesus. Sadly the list of games that look ass in performance mode on ps5 amateur is only getting longer as the generation goes on.

This will only get worse when PS6 launches. Cross gen will be long but base PS5 will reach potato graphics quality at some point in 60fps modes (I think they will disappear 2-3 years from now).

That is exactly what i fear so thats why i bought the pro,and because i respect myself as a gamer.

Shiit i still use the ps4 pro(white) to play dark souls remastered on it. Even gave it a ssd cause my drive didnt load textures anymore

Its just a bit rough going from Dualsense to Dualshock 4

For the first time since owning a pro, I feel like it's worth a damn
Better late than never. Does leave a slight bitter taste in my mouth however. Not long completed Silent Hill F on the PRO. Same goes for Jedi Survivor and these games look so much better than when I played them. Should have been like this from the start.

It's one of the reasons I put off playing many AAA games in 2025. Now I'm in heaven!!! :)

True. I was a day one purchaser but after seeing this week's updates in some of my games, I feel redeemed

The PS5 Pro has gone from being "a scam" or not being "very pro" to being the pro console that shows the most difference compared to the base consoles; the new PSSR is incredible.

Played a few titles last night, Yotei, Jurassic World Evolution 3, DD2.

Yotei looked great but it looked great on PSSR1. JWE3 looks sharp but I can't honestly say it looked significantly sharper than before, I did some local comparisons and I'm not seeing a great deal difference from my viewing distance.

DD2 looks good but the performance issues remain. Playing on PSSR Balanced mode with RT visually looks good but the dips just kill me, combat performance just isn't good and I can't forgive it.

Overall I'm happy so far, playing on an 55inch S90D at about 6.5ft viewing distance.

From DF and Mark Cerny talk. Locked behind Patereon as of now.

No patches for the blog post games. No SH2 performance mode PSSR.
The devs told Sony to force the new version in their game regardless of what the user chooses to do with the toggle. The only way to see those games with the old PSSR now is to play them on a console that wasn't updated to the new firmware.

I hope digital foundery has a console that hasn't been updated yet to do their comparisons.

It seems there is quite a bit of confusion going on as far as what games will get an added pssr 2 patch from the developers. (We know that cyberpunk will get one and that is great and surprising news) however what about assassins creed? Or other large games that have been hinted? Does anyone really know anything?

They should've never patched it out why not just add a toggle

Those fucking dickheads at Digital Foundry are to blame too. Idiots.

Tbf though I don't actually mind how the TSR in the current performance mode looks anyway. It's fine. But still, pretty galling.

At this point I'm just assuming there won't be any other than Cyberpunk. Although it is weird that they specifically promised one for AC Shadows. I just don't know why they'd bother with it now. There obviously isn't any benefit over the toggle, other than adjusting settings I suppose.

The bigger argument for quality over performance mode for me personal was the lighting quality. Less issues with the resolution scaling was just a bonus.

Konami and Blooder, way to support your customers.

They are literally the worst. Both of em. What a mess to have one mode with pssr and the other mode with something else...no options to choose from.

who does that?!

I checked out SH2 last night in Quality mode and the IQ isn't exactly "fixed". It's better but I still found Lumen "boiling" in the hospital, the reflections are clearer but still shimmer for a few seconds when you move the camera then they become stable- its really weird. Framerate is a bit worse now with the new pssr too.

If this was a respectable developer/publisher they would've fixed these things ages ago.

I think you have to differentiate between "normal" artifacts related to lumen and what was added by PSSR1. UE5 games are unstable on every platfrom but PSSR1 added more noise and artifacts to them compared to DLSS, FSR or TSR.

PSSR artifacts were fixed so games now show "just" UE5 low quality lumen/denoiser problems.

Could not agree more. Some tweaking and optimization would go a long way, but alas, they got our monies while bragging about new projects.

I think it's in Konami hands, removing PSSR from performance mode was a quick fix after it was clear that PSSR1 fuck up lumen lighting. They fixed PSSR many months after Konami stopped caring about this game.

SHf received full on patch I think? And it's much newer game.

*dusts this off*

F*Konami.

SH2 is their quintessential game of the series.

He will always blame the hardware. Don't waste your time.

Maybe its time for UE5 to be burned till it's dead. Those fuckers keep adding new features rather than just focusing on optimizing the engine as it is right now and fixing all its issues.

This game can be a visual mess even on PC at times, without Ray Reconstruction.
Hell, on rare occasions, even with Ray Reconstruction.

Unreal Engine 5 just is what it is.

P.S. Man, Bojji Bojji has become such a joy to read after PSSR2 dropped.

What happened?

John seems very pleased. Nice to hear:

I initially tested the PS5 Pro version again, but this time with retail code, and, what a difference, the PSSR2 makes. Like, it's genuinely shocking.
It looks so much better. I actually think the Balanced PSS2 mode looks better than the native 4K mode now. Like, it's just really clean comparatively. Very very sharp. So PSSR2 was indeed a big improvement over PSSR1, as you'd hope.

I went ahead and took PSSR completely out of the equation by playing the 1.0 disc version of SH2 and there's still "boiling" in places. That's UE5 for you.

However, playing the game now, the flickering has been reduced to almost nothing so I'm very happy and no longer bothered.

Gears reloaded campaign 120 hz mode looks incredible every game I've tested have me thinking I'm beyond satisfied with this level of image quality now just give me path tracing next-gen and that's fine by me.

Guys, if anyone has Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, could you please check if the incredible Ray Tracing implementation is still there, just as it was at Pro launch?

For some reason, in the demo RT is now completely broken. Gone completely are the RT reflections on transparencies, and the incomplete ones that are there on opaque surfaces are a noisy mess (this with or without PSSR toggle). In short, it looks absolutely nothing like it did when I originally downloaded the demo, which looked like this:

And Dead Rising is surprising because ray tracing reflections are everywhere! It's not just few mirrors.
It's on most doors, vending machines, walls, even coarse surfaces but then it just looks like grain. I got some examples. Lowest fps I've noticed so far was 53 in paradise plaza with certain camera angle.
I've not played it on pc, so someone gotta confirm if these reflections are there. Even in glasses and camera lens.

Strongly hope this weird ass bug is only affecting the Demo and not the actual game, because I've got a physical copy on the way and, if for some retarded reason Capcom really broke the game, when it previously was the best version by far on any platform (and their best RT reflections so far in any RE Engine game), I'm going to return it without even opening it.

You know that you can turn off updates and play the original disc version, right?
