It's Puzzle Quest with familiars in real time. There's a lot of Indies Jank here, but a lot of charm and love as well. A nice little title that I occasionally come back to.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

$12.49 USD is pretty decent price for Recettear + Fortune Summoners + Chantelise as a side bonus. Unless you have a strong aversion to moe anime style art/characters they are pretty fun games.

I don't think they will drop it below 75%, but you never know I guess

All of Popcap is now 50% off. Its not really advertised but this means you can get the Peggle deluxe/Peggle Nights bundle for only 7.49.

Also Bejeweled 3 is FINALLY on sale at $9.99 (down from $19.99)

But better still is PUZZLE QUEST 2 for $2.49 at 75% off today

Basically all the Wadjet Eye games.

And again:

Since I'll be on the road from tomorrow onwards, I'd appreciate if you guys could take your time to create posts with the layout provided in the OP. Saves me a huge chunk of time and I can immediately add it to the thread without you needing to wait a few hours until I have time to update it.

Anything thats not in this format will take a while for me to get to.

Only played Gemini Rue. The rest are just as good?

Primordia is supposed to be their best one, and I really liked the puzzle mechanics, charme and style of the Blackwell games, which I heartily recommend. At least the first one if you are on the fence (5 parts or something).

Edit: The speed of this thread is more to my liking :p

That new Dark Falls and New Horizon are both pretty cheap right now, might get them and report on how cool they are, or how theyre not

I'll post it here too:

Just to make a quick recommendation for Thomas Was Alone. Really fun puzzle-platformer. Not very challenging, but with interesting different mechanics at play. Good soundtrack and narration and an engaging story which was surprising giving the genre and the characters presentation (geometric figures). It's already at a pornographic price so I don't think it will decrease further from that.

Thomas Was Alone: $2.49 (75% off)

The accompanying Steam sale Indie Game deal thread! We are so Indie, we dont even have a header! (If someone feels like donating a decent header, I'd gladly take it)

Since it might take you a while to scroll through this thread, here is a handy list of things you'll find here:
Post #1: Overview, Introductory Blurb & Toma Seal of Approval Sale recommendations
Post #2: New recommendations since the last thread
Post #3: Recommendation Catalog A-D

Rules:
  • 1. NO CARD, IRISH ACTRESS OR GENERAL STEAM TALK - Visit the main Steam summer sale thread for that: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=840701
  • 2. Otherwise feel free to ask about impressions of Indie games, "X or Y?"-questions, mention suggestions for this list or any other game related topic.
  • 3. WAIT FOR THE DAILY DEALS....if you dont want to get burned. I have quite a few games on this list that I expect to get way deeper sales down the line. If you cant wait, feel free to disregard that and buy it anyway, more power money to the Indie devs.
  • 4. Obligatory line to make you a bad conscience: For every good Indie game on Steam, there are 10 good Indies not on Steam and less than half of the games mentioned in our Indie GOTY thread are on Steam. If you want MORE great Indies (mainly Desura/unaffiliated), check out our monthly Indie Game thread series and the recommendations in the first post:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=829021 or our Indie GOTY thread from 2013: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=766928

I talked to Salsa about this years ago and without trying to steal any thunder from the main thread, some will probably appreciate a thread with short write ups and a crew of guys mainly to ask for the games that most people didnt play or dont pay attention to. This way it should also be easier to follow the discussion of certain games if its not buried under a few hundred posts of card talk or "SHOULD I BUY THIS; GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS".

This thread is already rather packed, but its in the nature of things, that I couldnt include every game on earth. I stuck to the ones that are generally recommended or recommended by me/the Indie Game thread guys. If there are games not mentioned here, but you you feel strongly about them, then mention them in here in the exact same format as the other entries and I'll add them to the OP if I didnt already. Please copy the following and remove the . in the code tags.

Code:
[b]Gamename[./b] - Price (XX% off)
[quote][img]Screenshot[./img]
[URL]Link[./URL]

Short 2-3 sentence description why people should check it out.[./quote]
I reserve the right not to include troll entries (Looking at you, Bad Rats).

I decided to write up a quick list of games from this thread that I consider a well balanced list with good deals you should grab this sale or at least need to put on your wish list to wait for a good deal:

  • One Way Heroics - $0,87 (75% off) : Magnificient and unique roguelike style game.
  • Original War - $0,99 (80% off) : Cheap RTS with a story about time travel, customizable vehicle parts and caveman you can recruit. Tempted to gift away a few dozen copies of this and make a "Lets play..." thread.
  • Sentinel - $1,49 (50% off) : Incredibly challenging tower defense game with a great soundtrack that you influence with the tower placement.
  • Full Bore - $7,49 (50% off) : Hopefully gets a deeper sale, but this game is 40 hours of puzzle platforming exploration content in a basically open world and was among my top choices for GOTY 2013.
  • Divinity II: Developer's Cut - $4 (80% off) ( : Easily among the best RPGs of the past 5 years with a vast world and plenty of stuff to do. Oh and you are a dragon. Ridiculous value at $4.
  • Eador: Masters of the Broken World - $4,99 (75% off) : The lowest price its ever been and among the best turn based strategy games out there. Consider grabbing the Humble Weekly Bundle for $9 though to get Ironclad Tactics as well: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly?utm_source=enhancedsteam
  • Ironclad Tactics - $7,49 (50% off) : Fantastic card based strategy game with real time combat and deck customization. Lots of content too, consider grabbing it for $9 on the Humble Weekly Bundle to get Eador: Masters of the Broken World as well: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly?utm_source=enhancedsteam
  • Gateways - $1,24 (75% off) : Portal meets Braid meets Metroid. Non-linear platforming with portal mechanics and time manipulation for $1,24.
  • Papa & Yo - $3,74 (75% off) : Incredibly imaginative and charming 3D puzzle/platforming game.
  • SpaceChem - $2,49 (75% off) : To no ones surprise, I'll include this game here as well. I'll preach this game until the day I die. If you never tried the game and you are up for a challenge, give it a whirl for $2,49.
  • Grand Ages: Rome - $1,99 (80% off) : Fantastic strategy game in a genre that only sees watered down iOS entries these days. These city builder games were the first games where I started being vocal about certain games on GAF, the accompanying thread is here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=417484 You cant go wrong with paying $2 to build Rome from scratch.

There are way, way, way more great games and deals going on, but at first glance, this is the list of stuff I'd throw at everyone's head considering the prices and quality of the games.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, if you want even MORE Indies (mainly Desura/unaffiliated), check the current monthly Indie thread:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=829021 or our Indie GOTY thread from 2013: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=766928

Jesus, more than I thought. I was gonna say Little Inferno too, but I was looking through my Humble Bundle catalog this morning and apparently I already own it. Most of these games probably won't have any sort of significant sale, though.

Is Under the Ocean worth getting? Or is it just another Terria clone? Could use some advice on Don't Starve, too. Can't seem to get a fix on what that game really is.

As for recommendations, I would say that everyone who hasn't yet needs to jump on Thomas Was Alone, and Lone Survivor's a steal at 66% as well.

I've been dying to play Rogue Legacy since the demo became available but waiting to see if it goes any lower.

I think I'll get Space Chem if it ends up at $2.50

Also on the subject of Adventure Point-and-Click games, currently in my opinion the most original and engaging games of the genre are Amanita Design games (I'm biased as I grew watching and loving eastern european animation classics). Samorost, Machinarium, Botanicula. They all are conveniently bundled for this sale. And they all are a must have for the fans of the genre.

Amanita Collection: Samorost 2, Machinarium (game and OST), Botanicula (80% off)

All great games on that list. Consider striking that "(maybe)" if it drops to a decent price. because I didnt believe the game looked all that hot from screenshots too, but its on a whole different level when seeing it in full res in motion. Also plays incredibly well.

Only played Gemini Rue. The rest are just as good?

The Blackwell games are good, the two I've played so far. Primordia is excellent and a lot less frustrating to play than Gemini Rue. I'm waiting for Resonance to come up in a daily or whatever.

Primordia- £4.19 (-40% off)

Set in a post-apocalyptic world strewn with cast-off machines, Primordia tells the story of Horatio Nullbuilt, a stoic robot who values his solitude and independence. Horatio spends his days studying the Book of Man, sparring with his droid companion Crispin, and tinkering with the airship they call home — a peaceful existence that becomes threatened when a rogue robot steals the energy source that the pair needs to survive.

Resonance - £2.79 (-60% off)

When a brilliant particle physicist dies unexpectedly, the race is on to secure his terrible new technology before it falls into the wrong hands. The lives of four playable characters become entangled as they fight against the clock to find the dead scientist’s secret vault.
The suspicions they harbor, the memories they guard, the connections they share - all will converge as these four ordinary people work together to prevent a potentially cataclysmic disaster.

Gemini Rue - £2.79 (-60% off)

gr_shot4.jpg

Azriel Odin, ex-assassin, arrives on the rain-drenched planet of Barracus. When things go horribly wrong, he can only seek help from the very criminals he used to work for.
Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a man called Delta-Six wakes up in a hospital with no memory. Without knowing where to turn or who to trust, he vows to escape before he loses his identity completely.
As fate brings these two closer together, we discover a world where life is cheap, identities are bought and sold, and a quest for redemption can change the fate of a whole galaxy.

The Blackwell Bundle Containing: Legacy, Unbound Convergence and Deception -£5.99 (-60% off.)

Collection of supernatural investigative adventure games created by Dave Gilbert.

First person perspective exploration game set in a mysterious and completely abandoned world. While traversing this empty space and solving meticulously placed puzzles you will slowly discover a true purpose why this architectural behemoth was conceived. It is worth mentioning that the game uses no text and speech at all.

Edit: It's €1,99 ($2,60) in Europe.

Indie games are about all my computer can handle these days. I'm gonna pick up a $20 steam card later today...still trying to figure out what to spend it on though.

Currently targeting:
- Hotline Miami ($2.50)
- They Bleed Pixels ($2.50)
- La Mulana ($7.50)
- Super House of Dead Ninjas ($2.37)

I like action and platformers...stuff along the lines of Mega Man and Metal Slug. Any suggestions? Or comments about the above games?

Carpe Fulgur Collection - $12.49 (75% off)

3 charmingly translated Japanese indie games, all sharing a moe anime inspired art style and characters (fair warning for people with a strong aversion to such things) from 2 different developers. Recettear a item shop game/action RPG dungeon crawler and Chantalise a ARPG dungeon crawler from EasyGameStation, plus Fotune Summoners a side scrolling ARPG platformer (think Wonder Boy in Monster World or Zelda 2) from Lizsoft.

Is the Strike Suit Zero DLC worth buying? I bought it on release but I'm really seeming to really eye Infinity instead (probably in my cart now).

Set to the backdrop of an alien invasion, this vertical shooter is filled with charm, beautiful pixel art and hectic energy. An excellent introduction to the bullet hell style with multiple difficulty levels (and more content available for the higher levels), and it also offers 4-player local multiplayer and 360 controller support. If you don't have it yet, get it!

Oh, I forgot about that, recommend it?

Is there actually an end to each character's story or is it akin to something like Don't Starve where you need to last as long as possible through this person's working life?

Telling you about how it actually plays out is sort of a spoiler in my opinion. I still highly recommend it, as the way they integrated the personal stories into a management sim is something I havent seen anywhere else before and we probably wont see anytime soon again. The clash of arthouse-y animations, tough character issues to resolve and hard as fuck management sim as a metaphor for how hard it is for these people in real life was really pulled off well.

Ok, I'm intrigued ;)

So excited that Prison Architect will probably be a Daily, can't wait for that

Gunpoint is the #1 game on my Wishlist but I waiting for a further discount

Super House of Dead Ninjas - $2.37 (66% off)

ibxHZVAa5a0T4L.png

http://store.steampowered.com/app/224820

If the name isn't good enough on its own, its blistering pace should be. A race to the bottom of the tower with randomly generated areas and filled with enemies that are (mostly) one hit kills, that can kill you just as easily. You gradually unlock more weapons, sub-weapons, magic and health that help vary up your approach.

Cargo Commander - $2.49 (75% off)

ihQbfupF3v9CF.png

http://store.steampowered.com/app/220460/

Travel from sector to sector generated by any name of your choosing, activate your magnet to pull in drifting cargo containers, and hope for a good haul. A fun side scrolling arcade-y style of play with topsy-turvy gravity shifting areas. Can get repetitive if you play for too long, but makes for fun short bursts. Features a Demon's/Dark Souls style of messaging in the form of postcards; sometimes you find ones other players have written on, sometimes you find blank ones to send your own message out into space to be randomly found. Also, there's a dedicated "Fuck you!" button. See you on sector JEFFGOLDBLUM.

Rock of Ages - U$1,99 (80% off)

It's a mix between a tower defense and strategy. You need to kill the enemy leader that is inside the base while defending your own, you can put obstacles to slow the enemy boulder and minimize the damage you'll receive. Your boulder is controlled by you, avoiding the enemy traps and trying to keep your speed is essencial to maximize the damage you can deliver. Also the artstyle is very nice.

Where'd you see that? I'd be intrigued if it were cheaper, but technically it's not even out yet.

Check the main Steam sale thread OP and scroll to the wallpaper section at the end.

There was a leak of the Postcard art. Bioshock Infinite has one and it was a daily deal. Check the Summer Sale OT.

It's only speculation right now but there is precedent, I guess.

Gotcha. I'm at work and almost all images are blocked. Do we know a price or percentage off?

Nope, but considering the game state and the devs stance on the game price, I dont think it will be above 33% off, so 20 bucks.
