Steamspy Sales Results for Q1 2016.

XCom 2 is doing very well for such a high-proced game, but the owner count hasn't really moved substantially in a while, so they're going to need some sales to get to 7 digits

I wonder what the expectations were for Far Cry Primal. It would seem to me that it underperformed.

Tomb Raider appears to have done very well though, as far as single player AAAA games on PC go.

It was also bundled with Nvidia stuff until mid feb, that's how I got it. I wonder how much of those numbers were codes, redeemed or resold.

I think all The steam sales' numbers are counted from users who bought from the store...

If they were count all the users who has the games how reliable the store will be? How successful?

Got it?

For Far Cry, Everyone who didn't buy it directly through steam got it on UPlay. No way of knowing how many people that is, but it can be pretty substantial for a lot of games

Those numbers seem pretty low in general. Not a single game sold 1 million units last quarter?

The list is about new releases, so all the releases that came out during that time. Games like Fallout4 or GTA5 might have sold more during that time. Not sure about that.

PC while a huge market isn't really the place for main AAA game sales for the most part. Keep in mind these are also global figures and none of them did 1 million.

But PC is a growing and important market but you can't look at software sales like you do on the console side

Also Division for sure did over 1 million when you factor in UPlay

SteamSpy doesn't have a way to know where it comes from, just how many have it on their inventory, hence why it says "owners" and not "sold". From their about page:

"No. "Owned" means "owned". It includes games bought on Steam, bought in retail and then activated on Steam, bought in bundles, recieved through promotions or as a gift and so on."

No, there aren't dozens of millions of hardcore steam pc buyers. Steamspy's owner Sergey said as much in past articles.

But also, there are hundreds of games released on pc. For example, this Q1:

2016/01 - 253
2016/02 - 270
2016/03 - 333

so total sales are kind of spread out.

Romance of the three kingdoms XIII! It's not in English, though. I wonder when we can expect that. I still need to play the new nobunaga's ambition.

there might be million sellers outside of new releases, but traditionally this is a slow quarter anyway. No major sales either.

And of course, the PC market is vary varied. a LOT of games come out and PC gamers are all over the place.

I wouldn't be suprised if we were to have the numbers for say Ps4, that the oevrall number of sales isn't too far off, but on Ps4 they'd be concentrated on fewer games, giving the false perception of games selling more on the console.

Love Stardew Valley, pleased it's done well.

I still need to get XCOM 2.

Xcom 2 will rack up another 500,000 on the next Steam sale. I thik there's a lot of people waiting on the sidelines for a sale (and many were waiting for performance fixes too).

Wsa really really hoping Dragon's Dogma would sell more, I want a proper sequel for it :(, and on pc.

Didn't it only manage a few hundred thousand units in the West total? This is a pretty good portion of that for a very late port that's only been out for a few months.

Almost 300k for a relatively old console game released on PC is not bad at all. Plus it's not been discounted much so it could easily get around 500k.

Yay for StarDew! I've been dying to get this game but looks like I'm going to buy it now. I love the harvest moon games so I think it's time to jump in.

Haven't played Stardew Valley yet, but do root for these breakaway indie success stories. It warms the cockles of my heart.

Disclaimer: no idea what the cockles are and how and why they would warm my heart, but yay videogames!

I hadn't even heard of 13/25 of those games. The top bloke must be rolling in dough.

But it's a code to activate ON steam, alright?
