Stellar Blade debuts on Steam with over 192k CCU (best-performing single-player PlayStation Studios release)

Game is average as fuck. Why are you even gassing it up aside from culture wars? If it were Ninja Gaiden, I'd be on board, but Stellar Blade is so middling as an action game.
Because they can pour more resources to make their next game even better?

so if some1 likes smt its gassing cause u dont like it ? ^^
The poster hasn't even expressed liking this game or its qualities though. All he's been posting about is culture wars.

I personally don't care in the slightest because I think they got the combat all wrong and am not interested in a sequel, but if you liked it, that makes sense. Not the poster I was addressing though.

I already have hundreds of screenshot of Eve from various angle and attack animation and I haven't even reach the first hub town yet… its too addicting.

and this is how I imagine nier automata physics willl be if there's a modern sequel of it
I fapped it thrice already...choked the bishop, strangled the chicken...shits good

What can i say about that, there exist that vodka drinking meme for a reason:

Clearly someone hasn't been to New Orleans. :messenger_beaming:

It wasn't that long ago that "sexual freedom" and "normalizing sexualization" was a very progressive/liberal mindset.
It still is, they just also think that the men that consume the sexuality are predacious and/or pathetic.

Like I understand concerns with objectifying women in general, but many, many posters on Era are literally just taking a "sexiness=evil" stance which is so odd, because that was very much so a Fox News conservative mom stance in the past.
Again, sexuality is good when it's liberating for female expression and financial empowerment ("get that bag girlie!!" - every Reee member in reference to OF). It's only bad when men enjoy it. Even though men enjoying sexuality is a necessary condition for women to be financially empowered by it.

I love how everytime Sony has a success it is used to bludgeon Sony as a whole...

Helldivers comes out... see sony doesn't know what they're doing this is what they should be doing
Astro Bot comes out.... see sony doesn't know what they're doing this is what they should be doing
Stellar Blade goes to PC has success... see this is what they should be doing...

Note that people were really quiet with the success of Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok...

I'll add that another reason why this game might be doing so much better compared to the other games is because the other games were must buys on PlayStation, while this largely flew under the radar. That didn't quite work out as well for Rise of the Ronin though, so who knows.

I do think Sony should port Demon's Souls to PC though... and Gran Turismo and I think they should have tried to make Dreams work (no pun intended) and built it out.

Is there any way to see where the players are situated? Im curious if some of these games Sony publish on Steam speak to a certain audience in fx China or the Asian market in general.

It's a no-brainer, console gaming is a small market in China. The vast majority of gamers there play on PC and mobile. What Sony is finally realizing (though much later than they should have) is that Steam offers a gateway into the Chinese market. It's also why you'll see an increase in PC ports & day one releases out of Sony. Die-hard Sony loyalists hoping the company would stay in its own lane will be reluctant to accept this reality. Sony just wants to make money and the HUGE PC gaming community in China is looking yummy.

Im thinking its related to the China PC market but it would be nice with some data to support that.

Also helps the port is perfect. Pc gamers don't forgive bad ports.

Lots of Sony ports have been dog shit messes at launch. Horizon, Spiderman remake etc

Eh

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is sitting at a 92 in the last 30 days and an 81 all time.

Spider-Man Remastered is a 96% all time...

It's funny the narrative that people create when the facts don't back it up.

Well it seems to be performing really well.

The west is in tatters and Asia is taking over completely with gaming.

I remember when Asia and Japan were pretty much out of the race and there was those questioning what happened. Now look at us.

Tits and ass for all

To be very honest, I don't understand why people are hating on the fucking game. It's got a hot ass protagonist, great graphics and gameplay, very optimized on PC and satisfying combat. And to hit home with this, this is a damn good port! Just like Returnal was.

It has denuvo, which is what stopped me from buying it

He said launch. HZD PC launch was awful. Spider-Man 2 as well. HFW and Spidey Remastered were fine for the most part.

These kinds of numbers kinda prove that the delay in launching SP games on PC isn't an issues as long as you have strong product-market fit.

Stellar Blade is very appealing to Asian audiences, is very scalable (so even guys with 2060s can try it out) so naturally it's a success on Steam as well.

Demo was underwhelming. The combat feels way too slow or something. Just felt clunky. Ill play it at some point I guess but I don't get the hype and I love character action games.

HZD Remaster is a different launch than HZD and he said the Spider-Man remaster not SM2...
Poster just said Horizon, not remastered. Spider-Man remake was evidently incorrect or he forgot because there's never been a remake, just a remaster, which is what he probably alluded to. The point is, there have been a lot of bad ports from Sony that took a while to fix. Their releases have been inconsistent in terms of quality at launch.

I think the combat feels limp. Lots of these action games lately completely forego the weight and punch behind the attacks. Go chop some enemies in NG and then do the same in Stellar Blade. There's a world of difference. Wukong suffers from the same problem.

There's really only a handful of legendary character action games very all these years. And this isn't even that type of game.

I'd compare the gameplay of stellar to gow, nier, Yakuza, etc. the composition of the game is not even close to characters action. It's action-heavy but the fighting is not having to carry ever minute of the game.

If you are comparing it to ng or bayo I am not that confident in your ability to asses this at all.

The combat feel in the last two GOW is better than it's ever been. I also don't think there's any excuse for the combat to feel limp whether it's a character action game or not.

Yeah, funny as fuck, while Sony is the one party that benefits from all of this.

A great example of a game that caused the came for the attraction/interest but stayed for everything else. It's what happens if you have good looking characters and designs, good gameplay, setting, and monster designs, music etc. Hopefully the sequel will be even better and bigger.

The second days peak was 176k not as high as the first day of 183k but the drop down is slower since it dropped to 140k 2 hours after the first day peak while it only dropped to 150k 2 hours after today's peak. So a solid chance we should see higher overall peak on the third day or fourth. But it has to be this week or else the chance is gone since this isn't a long RPG like game like E33 or Oblivion Remaster nor multiplayer like Dune so it'll only have this next couple of days to break the 200k mark.

Stellar Blade is bigger than Doom
Who would have thought?
I liked what I see in Doom Dark Ages and liked that it's involving more story so was really surprised that it only got 30k, thought it'll get closer to 100k.

But after seeing Doom DA's 30k numbers, I figure Stellar Blade had a decent shot at beating that and near Rebirth's level since late launches usually range around 20k to 40k. So definitely did not expect over 100k for Stellar Blade let alone over 150k lol.

What are you talking about? Horizon zero down original pc launch was regarded a mess this is fact .

Spider man 2 was a huge mess at launch.

FF 7 remake and rebirth had their issues.

Last of us remake part 1 had pc issues too.

Seems you're pretending these games launch perfectly - they didn't.

Let's go through your list.

Why would the original Horizon's launch apply to the launch of the remaster?

The original person said Spider-Man Remake not Spider-Man 2

Sony had nothing to do with FF7 and Rebirth... weird that you would even bring them up.

I didn't make any mention of TLOU P1 because it's not the point. The point is, you can release a "perfect" PC port and it not sell well, that's clearly not the only factor.

I love how all the pearl-clutching censorious nancies coping and seething hard about the most coomer game of the past two years being an astounding success on Steam.
