Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Thoughts on Chun's overhead? (down forward mk) Its start up and recovery seem absolutely huge, and when I need to use an overhead, I'm having trouble whipping it out.

Bad overhead, will require some serious tricks to land. Like maybe anti air st.lk, and timing so the overhead hits as they land on the ground. They wouldn't be able to see the startup frames as well as the camera is shifted above when in the air. It's something like a 32 frame overhead, people can easily block it on reaction. I used stuff like Post super knockdown > light kikouken hits them meaty as I do the overhead. Sometimes they're thinking about blocking the fireball enough that they forget the overhead, but I don't expect that to work for long.

Anyone know of any high level Bison videos from the latest beta I can watch? I'm particularly interested in Bison v.s. Rashid, since I don't think I beat a single Rashid in the entire beta.

Last set of videos from me:

vs Edma Ryu

THE LEGEND RETURNS, I neglected to save the first match where he bodied me because I didn't even see the name until wayy later in my replays.

vs Moons Bison

ignore the ranks as it was day 1, but still a good match.

vs Samrock Ken

I made all the wrong guesses on wakeup here.

vs Gumbee Chun

Highest ranked Chun I played, wish I got to play Crackfiend.

vs Moons Bison

ignore the ranks as it was day 1, but still a good match.

Gah, all those air legs in that last round. I wonder what Bison's options are, or if he can only block. Maybe cr.HP can anti-air it, or v.Reversal? I'm sure super works but the window for input before the legs hit looks pretty small.

You're very consistent too with that lk anti-air, looks like a great button; does it also anti-air Bison's crossup? I'm studying this match because a close friend of mine plans to play Chun and I'll probably play Bison.

I've been beaten by his j.mk in terms of anti air, it seems to push his hurtbox forward past the realms of my st.lk hitbox in a lot of situations, it's just that most people that jump are jumping at a range to come short of my j.hk anti air without understanding that my st.lk covers that range.

V-reversal is a great option against the air legs, preemptive st.hk or cr.hp may work, but I believe st.hk has the higher chance of working since it seems to have betters startup.

Yeah, I've read this discussion before, but I don't see how it supports your claim that my TE not working in Windows 10 is "totally unrelated to Windows 10". Please enlighten me.

It's a hardware level issue for those older sticks- you can either choose to stay on an old OS that still supports that hardware or do any of the hardware solutions suggested to run the stick on a more modern OS.

Ah, I see what you mean now.

Currently debating whether I should order one of those PCI USB cards, mod the stick or just shell out for a TE2+ or TES+...

I actually bought a PCI USB card years ago to play 3S on my PC that I use for my PS3 stick to work. It has something to do with the chipset on the mobo that causes the PC to not recognize PS3 sticks. My friend has the exact same stick but a different mobo and his PC connected fine without the need for the PCI USB card.

It works flawlessly except for 1 weird quirk - on fresh PC boot, if I left the stick plugged in, it doesn't recognize the stick. If I just remove and reconnect the stick from the back, it works fine again. This is the one I bought. If your current stick is still in good shape, the PCI card is by far the cheapest option. It's easy to install too and didn't require any extra drivers or installation on my part. Make sure you have an open and accessible PCI slot though.

I don't know if they've had any./..on show or something but what do people think of items like the MadCatz Street Fighter V Fight Pad Pros? Gazing in the direction of the Bison or Chun-Li one. They're listed as PS4 but use USB so...i'd assume PC compat...

This is a bit off topic but does anybody remember the name of the guy who was streaming around the launch of the first beta and he, along with many others, couldn't connect? More importantly, does anyone know the name of the song that was playing? It went something like:

I love chicken!
Yum Yum chicken!
Gotta have some chicken!

I hope sony allows me to use my PS3 fightpad, its pretty much brand new bought it thinking it was for the 360 lol

They look nice and I've liked their fightpads in the past. More expensive than the Hori FC4 but they have a touchpad, which the Hori doesn't.

Per MadCatz the PS4 line's firmware does not yet have support for x-input. the PC version of SFV at launch requires x-input controllers. So until the firmware is updated or SFV gets the directinput patch, you'll need a separate application (like joy2key or the like) to have it work with PC.

I'd recommend the Hori FC4 Pro, but after going on sale for a while at $30, it's jumped back up to $50

The regular FC4 is basically the same thing, minue the (useless) adjustable d-pad angle and holdy-horn:

I played Chun the entirety of the last beta, but I really wanna make Necalli a secondary character....Are there any good videos of Necalli players out there?

"There's no way that's safe right? Someone can bust out an armor move, or mp shoryu during the gap can't they?"

Yeah, but that's assuming they have an armor move or invincible reversal. Backdash might maybe get away in time? I also wonder if the startup of the fireball isn't so long that you might be able to jab it?
