Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Wrong.
Uncle had a hell of a time getting in, as has Infiltration and Gooteks.
There is no conspiracy, and acting like there is only makes you seem touched.

They don't pull the numbers that Max does. Sorry, but it's not paranoia.

If 15k people were watching my stream, I'd be in there as well. It's a marketing move.

I doubt the whitelist is "all celebrity personalities" but something close to a "Few people"

Max was on that list.

So what is mixup potential? That his teleport v-trigger can be used for different combos?
As others have said, it increases the guessing game for high/low blocking. Example: Nash throws a boom and then teleports. It's he going to teleport in front of you, behind you, or in the air behind you? You have to be watching like a hawk to know for sure.
Say Nash throws out a fHP that you duck. He then cancels that whiffed normal into an air teleport and comes down with a jMK and then combos from there.
Extremely versatile. Taking 2 v-meters is necessary to make it non-abusable.

Mr Dood, your Twitch channel seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?

It's highly suspect. Believe in the whitelist.

Yeah, plus you can get multiple teleports per round because his V-skill fills 1/3 of the bar per hit,and its a great poke!

So yesterday it went up again 2 hours from now, but that's not a guarantee. Keep the capcom unity forums open to check.

The planned global phase 1 has been delayed.

says everyone bitter about not getting in to play
It's crazy. I'm in a swamp in Florida. Not streaming. Not rich..in the hood, in fact. I played tons of matches. Mind you, not a single log in in Thursday/Friday. Yesterday was fun as hell..

It really sucks for those who haven't gotten a shot yet..but yeah.

Im sure there is. Its so fucking obvious.

Yo, I think you should just cancel your preorder. If not getting into a beta makes you this nuts, then I see you rage quitting a lot in the final game. Maybe fighting games just aren't for you man.

Seriously guys, there is no whitelist.

I got in for about 3 hours yesterday. Got to play about 4 matches. The game is really solid. Laggy matches didn't fel like I was underwater and combos were easy as shit to pull off. I love it. Can't wait until release.

No need to pre order here, it was an invite/ticket thing in Asia...

I'm curious - for someone like Max that was able to get back in each time with little to no problem the entire night from what I saw... what do you attribute it to?

Really good luck?

Pretty much. If you actually watched his stream, he seemed to have just as much trouble as other people most of the time. Plus, he wasn't the only one getting in rapid fire, since I and tons of others in this thread were also getting in with similar frequency to Max. People here are just getting super salty that they're not getting lucky.

Haven't managed to get in on my UK account (EU code) since yesterday morning.. I played 4 matches and got booted to the XMB.

Really hoping I can get in again later today using the US client because I'm thirsty to play some more.

"Mixup" is the basic strategy of confusing your opponent on which way to block. The most simple case being a "cross-up" (when you jump over your grounded opponent and hit them on the opposite side)

So that's why people are jumping so much in Street Fighter? To do mixups that confuses their opponent?

crHP,frHK and crMK are good pokes. lk,mk,lp,mp links and can cancel into his specials, pretty much your b&b combo for now. You can dash into his H Sonic Boom which is good for mixups. His super is easy to link into with L Sonic Scythe.

I need some kind of dictionary for this. What is cr supposed to mean?

If they region lock it again, use a US account. Just activated a 14 day free trial as the region locking was working yesterday.

Pretty much

Thanks for this.

And what is j? Jump Medium Kick?

Yeah but there was a period of 4 or 5 hours where he was able to close the game and log in three or four times with no trouble. This seemed to happen right after he played Combofiend. Max even said he doesnt know how he was able to get in so easily and said someone could be helping him out. Not saying this lasted the whole stream, but for a few hours he definitely had help.

Well count me in the salt group since I've been at it for 3 days and played I think 3 matches. It's just strange.

Some characters need to jump over projectiles, too. An openign from a jumping attack can lead to big damage.
cr is for crouching.

Don't play much street fighter, but aren't jumps usually punished by anti-airs/dp? If you jump a lot isn't it more detrimental? As a spectator I always thought the game was usually on the floor.

(I've only done training in SFV at a firends)

And fr is Forward?

I have learned a lot of things in regards to Street Fighter today. Now I'm just waiting to get beat up like no other, when I can get online.

In Street Fighter IV it felt like I could only do normal kicks and punches, as I just randomly pressed buttons.

If you can read your opponent and predict a fireball for example a jump in combo can wreck them but usually yeah you don't jump in for no reason.

Online lets you get away with a lot of bullshit. Offline usually people don't jump in a lot unless they know they'll cross up effectively, or if the character has shit antiairs.

Beginners should learn how to comfortable with their character's walkspeeds. It'll help your spacing game instead of always relying on jumping in.
