Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

It is down..
Ahh..ok. I just got a message stating that there was an update to the server and that I should close the application and restart for the update to take effect. I really hope they fix it this time...

I haven't had one game online yet, was only able to log in once to training mode where I played around with birdie for about 20 mins on the first day, but no online matches sadly. When is it due back btw?

Yeah, no, if your argument was "it shouldn't blow the whole meter", then I'd be with you. I'm with Max on that from his Nash video. The utility of that teleport is fantastic, especially considering you can cancel into it from almost everything he has. INCLUDING WHIFF. NO OTHER CHARACTER CAN V-TRIGGER FROM A WHIFFED SPECIAL.

those v-stocks fill up pretty darn fast, though. it'd be extra extra OP if he had like 4 of those per round

Thanks. I really need to learn the basics. I have a really hard time remembering combos in Tekken, I hope I won't experience the same in Street Fighter V. And I never played Street Fighter IV, even though I own it on Steam, I could never get into it.

Well..
Keep an eye out here.

Everyone gets some kind of power up state and all Nash has is a teleport. I don't think it's that good compared to the other characters.

I'm siding with Combofiend on Nash's teleport. Yeah, it's somewhat controversial that one teleport drain the entire bar, but it's got a lot of potential uses and it can easily be used in an hit confirm situation for extra damage 100% of the time.

I was about to bring this up. The meter cost is way too high right now.

I probably wouldn't feel this way about his v-trigger if i had more than 2 live matches with it.

Nash's V-Trigger seems so pathetic compared to everyone else right now.
It's an instant combo extender and has insane mixup potential. I actually think it's one of the best V-Trigger abilities right now.

I wish I had more than one match last night. It really sucks to sit in training for so long just waiting. Of the hours and hours I've spent trying to get in (since Thursday night) I think I'm up to a little less than an hour of training room time. Pathetic.

I'm so bad at this game. =(

Lost every match I've gotten.

Same here. Won a few rounds but lost 3 matches so far. Glad I at least got to try Nash. Cool to play a Guile style character that isn't charge based and can be more offensive. Really itching to buy a fightstick now though. Will Madcatz restock any of the USFIV sticks for Ps4 or are those limited run?

where in Canada? I've yet to hear of anyone from ontario/quebec getting in.

Quebec here...

Since Thursday I think I wasted 5-6 hours trying to connect without even being able to play a single second.

I'll probably waste an hour hopelessly trying today as well.

I think I can allow myself to say this beta is a colossal failure. :lol

Nash's teleport is a two button teleport FADC that you don't have to spend any super meter to use.

It's probably one of the strongest V-Triggers in the game right now just for the sheer utility.
So what is mixup potential? That his teleport v-trigger can be used for different combos?
Mixups = guessing games. You can for example throw a fireball then teleport behind the opponent right as it's about to land, making him have to block the other way. Or do normals and teleport in the air behind him, crossing up.

"Mixup" is the basic strategy of confusing your opponent on which way to block. The most simple case being a "cross-up" (when you jump over your grounded opponent and hit them on the opposite side)

Amazon got the ken TE2 on preorder .

How are you guys even playing? It still won't load for me, now it's gettig to "connectig" then exiting out to the PS4 menu. Think after this and the SF4 fiasco I'm cancelling my preorder, wtf would they make the beta online only!?

To test their network infrastructure.

And they couldn't have made it so that it goes to the main menu and you can play offline with CPU or choose online so you can do both?

They specifically excluded an offline option because the beta's purpose is to test their infrastructure, not to be a demo (and yes I'm super mad I can't play too, but this isn't a demo)

He can build V meter VERY easily with his V-skill.

Nash's teleport is the type of thing that you can't understand with "theory fighter" alone.

It's going to take weeks of actual training mode practice and match experience for people to really see how good it is. Besides the combos, he can toss a Sonic Boom at you, wait until it's about to connect, then V-Trigger. Suddenly, you have a split second to know which side to block that boom.

You do NOT want Nash being able to teleport safely very often during a match. This isn't SF4.

Just woke up and decided to try but I keep getting booted back to the dashboard anytime I "Press Any Button". This happening to anyone else?

So what are some useful moves people will use whit Charlie Nash?
I need a base, some combos or nice moves I can pull off after a little while.

I know about this movelist and this movelist, but which moves are you guys using with Nash?

And how do you block Ryu's V-trigger? Just holding back?

crHP,frHK and crMK are good pokes. lk,mk,lp,mp links and can cancel into his specials, pretty much your b&b combo for now. You can dash into his H Sonic Boom which is good for mixups. His super is easy to link into with L Sonic Scythe.

As others have said, as awesome as that would be, that's not the point of this beta. This isn't a demo, the whole point of this is to test the online.

If you think about how much damage you do in this game, landing a good combo is more than worth it. Not only that, but imagine having that meter stocked - a knowledgeable player will have to switch up their gameplan because some wacky shit is coming and play on the defensive. A non-knowledgeable player is going to get exposed.

Even better, Nash can use his V-Skill to build his meter by absorbing fireballs or hitting people with it, so he can potentially do it in a short amount of time.
