Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I prefer sanwa buttons as well.
I haven't tried any of the new Hori sticks yet, the only one I've ever used was a HRAP2 lol.
But yeah, I've always used a TE stick since SFIV but I was thinking about getting a HRAP4 Kai because the availability of the TE2 for PS3+PS4 is crappy over here. Or I have to ship it from JP/US to here, but I want it delivered within one day.

TBQH, it really is totally fine and playable on the hrap. I havent opened it up or anything, but i'd hope the buttons/stick were as easy to replace as they are in the madcatz sticks. The thing I will miss most of all is the aesthetics

On mine i bought some more white buttons and swapped out the button part and the outer ring so they were pink w/ white rings on the top and white w/ ping rings on the bottom :3

sheesh and there's some joker sellin this for 600 bucks on amazon.

TBH, I think the Hori sticks look really slick. Black and kinda premium-looking.
I'm sure they work fine, but if were able to get myself one anytime soon I would replace the Kuro buttons with Sanwa buttons. Don't know about the Hayabusa stick.
One thing I liked about most MadCatz sticks is that you can really mod and personalize them.

played 10 minutes of it and tried to test out as much characters as i could.
got to try ryu, nash and bison. nash is my favorite so far, his attacks are just really cool and stylish

yeah, then by all means go for it. i mean if you can bear the shame of owning YET ANOTHER FUCKING ARCADE STICK. my living room hasn't looked this terrible since Rock Band days.

i obviously have BARELY played, but does anyone else feel like ryu's parry is kind of useless? its so hard to punish after parry, i dont really see myself ever using it

Is there any chance of a PS4 compatible PCB releasing any time?

I want to keep using my MadCatz PS3 stick that I have, but it looks like you can only buy PCB's for 360 and PS3.

The stick is fine, don't need to be swapped for a JLF but yes do swap the buttons for sanwa ASAP.

i just bought a hori fc4 and i'm gonna put the pcb from that into my madcatz ps3 stick
it even has a ps3/ps4 toggle built into it

edit: it was only 40 bucks on amazon

Streamers with lots of viewers get in. Its rather blatant.

I'm not on team #tinfoilhat. this dude only has 370 followers ffs.

please post details on how easy/difficult this was to do. i have done no research whatsoever, but someone on the last page mentioned doing this and now i am curious

Why not just swap the joystick/buttons instead? Much easier procedure. Unless you really want the old case I guess.
hmmm...so not worth the trouble?

It's defensive, not offensive. It's not useless just not stupid like in 3s

Edit: oh the gamepad thing, nevermind.

Is there some sort of guide to do this? I want to get a cheap PS3 stick and then get this to knock it out of the way

Have you tried the Kuro buttons? People seem to want to replace them before they even try them. I have the RAP4 and two other Hori's with all Sanwa parts, and I'll say this. The difference between the buttons is negligible. They don't sound as clicky as the Sanwa, but the feel is virtually the same. This stick is great out of the box, no modding needed unless you're really a stickler for feel.

Google ps360+. It's what I used on my old 360 te stick. It works on ps4 only issue is that after 8 minutes it stops working and you have to do a quick reset by holding hard kick+select then press the home button(start+select). Its not bad if you remember to do it during loading and between matches. Only takes like 3 seconds. I think they cost about $60 so its n options. You can make or buy cords that make it work on just about any console too.

I didn't get in last night though after trying for 4 hrs so maybe that one was US only?

No Unfortunately its a widespread issue, I got in a three times once for 3 hours once for 20 minutes and the last time I lost track of time I was on so long. Meanwhile a coworker of mine never got on once. I cannot complain as I actually got to play several matches but I can understand the anger of the people who didn't get in.

Overall impressions

The Netcode is very good at this early stage and I would only expect it to get better.

The actual gameplay feels very good not sure exactly what it is but the game feels much better than USFIV to me.

I wont really go into characters because I expect a lot to change before final release but as of right now Bison and Birdie are absolutely amazing but everyone felt really good. Really like the changes to the playstyle of Nash.

So what are some useful moves people will use whit Charlie Nash?
I need a base, some combos or nice moves I can pull off after a little while.

I know about this movelist and this movelist, but which moves are you guys using with Nash?

And how do you block Ryu's V-trigger? Just holding back?

Hm, I wouldn't be really bothered if the sound the buttons make is different. But I do like the sensitive and light feel of the Sanwa buttons. I have not tried the Kuro buttons myself, AFAIK I've read/heard from a lot of reviews that the they are a bit sturdier and not as responsive as the Sanwa ones and you'd have to press a lil bit more harder. If I did get my hands on the Kai I would definitely try the stick as it comes for a couple of days before I make my decision to replace parts.

Man I must have been away from SF for too long. When the fuck did Chun's lightning legs become a QCF move? I'm in my first match really early this morning spamming kicks and getting no love like, "am i doing something wrong?" Been playing SF since SF2 in the arcades and I am not ready for this change. It hurts. ;_;

Hmmm, it's still way too early and I have only played a handful of matches, but I don't exactly love how they've essentially removed chained/linked jabs for hit confirming. The rules for what can be linked into what seem kinda weird to me, but SF4 was the first fighting game I really spent time with for realsies so I may have a skewed perspective.

The hits certainly feel cooler when they connect though. I like the "weight" of the impacts.

I think v-trigger is a cool concept but I really gotta wait till the whole cast is out to see what they've done with it for each character.

And how do you block Ryu's V-trigger? Just holding back?

AFAIK the only thing that can't be blocked is his fully charged hadoken (umm and maybe his super while in v-trigger).

Nash's V-Trigger seems so pathetic compared to everyone else right now.

idk there are some pretty fancy lookin combos that use it. plus it's a free full-combo for you when you catch someone fireballin, right? what's his v-skill do, again?

Everytime I try logging into the beta it closes the game. On the PS4 menu, start game, press button "logging in...."...closes game...back to PS4 dash.
They should really dump people to a splash screen saying BETA IS CLOSED ATM

I had one match that was fairly laggy (not unplayable, but the opponent would basically jump around, almost teleporting. No dropped frames or anything, just that and a bit of input lag)

The rest of the matches felt like normal arcade mode. Was awesome. Matchmaking was also super quick (almost too quick just because I didn't really have time to mess with Cammy's new abilities beforehand, but I guess that's a pretty good problem to have)

It's weird to have spin knuckle on MP+MK but I'm finding myself using it waaay more, both to open up the opponent and get out of the way. V-Trigger is super awesome and melts health bars. Her Critical Art is kinda weird, seems like the kind of move that would work from a decent distance but the couple of times I used it in matches I came up short and didn't connect...whoops

Checked around the web and it seems most canadians are struggling to access the beta, so I ain't alone in my misery. :p I'm hopeful that the issues will be resolved and I'll get my fair share of matches soon, perhaps even with my brand new TE2 stick which should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. :]

The game does hold the promise of being up there with ST and 3rd strike as a GOAT caliber SF if Capcom execute well over the upcoming years (like giving Ryu his jouden kick back just for making him more fun to play).

Everyone gets some kind of power up state and all Nash has is a teleport. I don't think it's that good compared to the other characters.

Yeah, no, if your argument was "it shouldn't blow the whole meter", then I'd be with you. I'm with Max on that from his Nash video. The utility of that teleport is fantastic, especially considering you can cancel into it from almost everything he has. INCLUDING WHIFF. NO OTHER CHARACTER CAN V-TRIGGER FROM A WHIFFED SPECIAL.
