busting out old tricks

hahahah i love the nostalgia.

Thought reason for a beta was to test out the game, not to be sitting around attempting to actually play it.
They've explicitly said this beta was to test network related issues. This initial failure is productive to server load information.

Gameplay is the bottom of the concerns for this particular beta

Can you really blame people in this thread for conflating beta and demo? The industry has been abusing the term beta and conditioning people to think that betas are just glorified demos for at least half a decade now.

While that's true, Capcom laid out what would be entailed. We've had countless discussions in other threads, and people here have continuously reminded others.

By the way, the top of the site shows the server status

people shouldnt have to go to twitter to see that. if the servers are down for maintenance tthat's something that should communicated via the game. yeah i know its a beta :P
There's not even music or an intro so I don't expect them to have added that the server is currently down... Then again there are error codes

I haven't kept up with it. Why should I have to? The purpose of the beta should actually be explained to the user upon start up with a confirmation screen. Why is that so hard to do?

Still, a beta is a beta, and they were very clear on what they are testing.
It is not like they called it a demo and then offered a beta, then people would be right in complaining.

It is ok to be frustrated, it is not ok to be raged. Capcom is probably doing their best to gather data from this beta and make it work as best as possible so the game can be good at launch and people are bitching.

Looks like no beta tonight. Oh well, I put that time to good use. Played my first few matches of Rocket League online for the first time. Wasn't able to put aside time for the game ever since the 3 or 4 hours I played on release day in the season mode + training. Was a ton of fun. Friends are coming over tomorrow so I hope to get them into it as well.

To get into the beta, it requires you to preorder.

To even know about the beta being linked to the preorder, you probably have access to the internet. To even be able to access the beta itself, you have to have internet access.

Capcom had a presentation explaining this. It's on their official website. It's on their blog. It's on a bunch of news sites. I believe most online retailers send you to the official site or have a blurb about the beta with a link to the website.

You are moving the goalpost.

They could easily have an about option on the title screen, where it explains what the beta is about.
