"Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA as to when this will be fixed. We apologize for the inconvenience."

"We will be extending the beta to make up for lost time."

Well there we go.

I haven't kept up with it. Why should I have to? The purpose of the beta should actually be explained to the user upon start up with a confirmation screen. Why is that so hard to do?

People don't usually sign up for betas not knowing what to expect...
Despite many treating them as such, a beta is not a demo, even if a demo can still be the beta form of the final release.

IIRC Didn't the Destiny alpha and beta go extremely smoothly?

Destiny in general was just one of the most stable online game launches I've seen, especially so considering how big it was. I don't know what Bungie did, but I wish more developers were as on-point (not in reference to this, just in general).

To get into the beta, it requires you to preorder.

To even know about the beta being linked to the preorder, you probably have access to the internet. To even be able to access the beta itself, you have to have internet access.

Capcom had a presentation explaining this. It's on their official website. It's on their blog. It's on a bunch of news sites. I believe most online retailers send you to the official site or have a blurb about the beta with a link to the website.

You are moving the goalpost.

No I'm not. I have promotional posters in my store for this game and beta. You don't have to have access to walk into my store, see it, get excited, get your code, download and get met with a nice title screen.

No one should have to go anywhere to find the purpose of the beta except for the beta itself. Why not just have it right there when you load up? That so hard? Guess so.

Not sure why you're defending so hard. It's a simple concept and should be fairly simple to execute. Inform the customer in your beta itself.

Well, that sounds like a "goodnight, cya tomorrow" to me.

And it's fine to be upset or bummed about not being able to play tonight, but it seems silly to be mad at them about it all the same.

They could easily have an about option on the title screen, where it explains what the beta is about.

It was obvious what this was from the get go. If people need a reminder or to be informed, the wealth of the internet is at their fingertips. A message would have been nice, but it's not like they've been shy about what this is since they announced it.

Actually, I just checked that if you go to either the manual or beta details after you download it, it tells you what the purpose of it is. So it doesn't have an in-game one, but it's listed before you hit the game itself.

Even though I was so hype for this, I'm so glad I decided to go out for a few drinks instead of just wait for 9. I knew this was gonna happen.

BUT NOW I'M HOME AND WANT TO PLAY

Oh, I bet they're extending it.

This is the launch of the full game, right here. I bet once the beta is stable, they'll start selling characters and cosmetics and such. Then come March 2016, they'll sell all of the content released so far on a disc called Street Fighter V.

what is this

The problem must be serious if they have no ETA for the fix and are already saying that the beta will be extended.

yep it was very impressive .
Also wish more companies were that good.

Yep, they basically said "it's fucked I dunno man, come back tomorrow and hope it's back"

Goodnight ya'll. It's been fun.

EDIT: SOMEONE JUST DONATED 500 TO MAX? What the hell mang.

Gut reaction says their entire online infrastructure is fucked atm with no root cause currently; hence no ETA on fix. They're still trying to figure out the root cause I bet.

They had a real problem it seems not JUST a stress simply
Much bigger problem than a simple stress test when you entire online infrastructure is simply not working at all. Finding root cause(s) fast in this case is key and I really hope they do. Until then, not even a training stage for anybody let alone an actual match. They must be going crazy at Capcom HQ btw.
