Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Got a good hour+ with Nash in training room. Game felt so good his slow walk speed did not feel that way when you are playing the game.

I get that it's not a demo, but I'm definitely concerned that Capcom will be able to deliver at launch after this very poor beta showing. We'll see, I guess...

Heeh, people rediscovering what "Beta" means.

Hint : It's not a demo.
I get paid to test alphas and betas, further away from release than this, they usually go a shit ton better. Other public playable betas have gone way better than this as well. This happening now is also not a guarantee that something similar won't reoccur during launch. In fact, i'm curious, when's the last time this happened? Where the server load during a beta was so bad that the team had to reschedule and the majority of people couldn't play?

Since everything wants to be a "service" today, what if this game is going the way of Starcraft 2 with being allways online? Then we're going to go through the same motions in tournament play with lag/server problems, which in turn leads to local/isolated tournament servers. Or let's say I just want to do some training mode and can't since the servers are down and I'm not able to "log-in" or whatever.
Capcom is pretty close to the tournament scene right now, they would not do that.

The game is like 9 months away and there are two more betas to go and this is likely a beta-only issue since the beta is online-only, come on now

Not going to happen.

The only reason this beta is online only is because they want to test the netcode and online features. If people would be able to play offline then Capcom wouldn't be able to collect as much data.

but those cases weren't with so many people jamming the servers at the same time, right?

the problem here is that this beta was almost made to market the game, of course a lot of people will make a lot of pressure on the server..

in the end, they could not cover the demand

Man, I was super excited for this all week. I really hope the rescheduling isn't that far out.

Also to people saying "lol this wasn't a demo it was a beta" - I think most people here knew that. And I fully expected the servers to go down for at least an hour due to server load. What I didn't expect was for it to be down for 9 hours, which I can't remember happening for any other stress test I've partcipated in. Capcom fucked up.

Splatoon.

Alot of butthurt people in this thread. It sucks that it's not working but it's the first beta we got two more after this before launch. Let's get these problems knocked out now rather than having another halo launch.

Question for people who started recently using an arcade stick. How long did it take you to adjust?

Definitely at least 4-5 hours of playing. probably more. Transitioning from pad to stick is frustrating at first because in the beginning you're definitely going to play worse than you did on pad, but eventually it'll "click" and you'll wonder how you ever played a fighting game without one.

Actually curious about how many people actually tried to play this.

It's a good thing to have this beta soon to work out the issues. With that said, this beta was to test the netcode and the content delivery, and most people couldn't even make it to the title screen. I have a feeling it's gonna be down for a while.

Depends on how much you play. The timing between stick movement and button press is noticeably different than with a pad I think, but then once you get used to it you're in heaven.

I have been a pad user for fighting games since SFII on the SNES. I was never a high-level player, decent enough to hold my own generally. I'd say it took me about a week or two playing an hour or so a day to get to the point that I was as good on a stick as I was using a pad. The only thing I never quite hot a handle on was doing dashes (double-tapping a direction) proficiently. That's probably related to the give/distance-to-engage on my stick's gate though.

I'm using one of MadCatz's SFIV Fightstick Tournament Edition sticks, BTW.

I'm glad that we're having this problem now and not at launch like how 2k Sports do us every year with each NBA 2K release. I do hope that they find out the problem soon as this is my weekend off from work.

It's a beta.

Not a demo.

Not a disaster.

Not a disaster, but it sure doesn't look good for Capcom.

I wouldn't assume these issues would translate to the full game. I can think of a few games that had big problems during the stress test that ended up being completely fine at release - Splatoon and Titanfall come to mind. And those stress tests were way closer to their respective game releases than this beta is.
