Capcom has been talking about the net code every fighting the bring out .
This is not uncharted ground for them or even fighters anymore .
We are in 2015 not 2007 .

Yes, and you will get to play it once they solve the issues...they even said they would extend it so you get your 5 days...

Honestly, I'd rather have a beta that doesn't work than a launch game that doesn't.

You're still going to be able to play it early they aren't taking it away.

Sure, but so is not even being able to log in. They seem to have found a major problem, and I'm glad they found it now rather than later say like happened with something like Driveclub. Better to find the problem a year out in a beta than on launch day and have a borked product for months.

Online, i'm fairly sure they weren't expecting less than 5% of people to actually be able to play the game and for the rest to constantly stare at a title screen. I'm sure that they expected some people to have issues, but not like this.
 
So this won't be available this weekend at all. Fuck sake I had this weekend planned to play SFV. Hopefully whenever they reschedule for its during a weekend as I'm busy weekdays.

You seem to be confusing a beta with a demo.

I'd rather they'd have taken the entire thing down sooner and delay the beta instead of maybe having a chance at getting past the title screen.

Great, login servers are broken, take that shit down and call it a day until you figure it out. They'll probably break when the game is actually out too. In a network beta I'd rather know if the netcode is garbage or not, not spend time checking forums etc. to see if it's even possible for people to get into the game.

I'm aware, and that's really cool of them. but a 5 day window isn't very long and people only have set amounts of time they can actually play. If it doesn't work by the weekend I won't get a chance to play it for example.

No I have higher expectations. Like I expect them to work when money is asked for in exchange of service.

And it's never been any better than "average" and has often been straight up bad.

That said, I didn't consider MK when I said what I said, so I could be wrong. I don't know how good online play is for MK games.

I'm not one of the people complaining, but it's really kind of disingenuous to say "you're not here to play."

1. Capcom themselves told the beta testers what to expect. None of that shit is happening breh.

2. The point of the beta is to test online functionality, that is to say their new netcode (Kagemusha). That's different from testing if the servers can handle X amount of players at one time; they have tons of experience with that on multiple platforms, including current gen.

In other words, no, the beta isn't doing its primary function, yet. Capcom is not getting the information that they were seeking. Are they getting other information that could be useful? Sure, but lets not act like assholes just because the flip side is people acting entitled. It's a F up on Capcom's part, no doubt about it. It just shouldn't be that serious (for anyone), because it's free.

Just read from where I left off last night and I see they still trying to fix it. Maybe we'll get to see training mode again tonight for few seconds if we lucky?
 
I kinda hope that the people who are throwing a fit about this cancel their preorders, since I get the feeling that they'd be the ones most likely to rage quit online once the game actually comes out.

Yeah, and I'm sure they're disappointed by this too.
It's a free beta test 8-months before release and the very first run of a new online system with huge demand, and they're promised to make up for lost play time. I think some perspective is needed here.

What does demo have to do with anything? I think yall are getting caught up in the words. I bet money come release people will already be talking of "I expect network problems too many people are gonna log on at once release day." It happens, yeah but dont just say its a beta as excuse for not working. Beta is for testing yeah but also means the game is in a playable state.

Well this too. I'm sure some people preordered only to cancel -- but I figure that most people planned on buying this game. Or at least I did. So to be told to expect one thing and not having that thing delivered to me is disappointing. Even as a beta to test online functionality it fails because the netcode could be awful and we would not know. Plus it's not as if we would even need to be online to use training mode, so why would everyone need to use the servers to do that in the beta?
 
If it was an open beta and all you had to do was just download it from the PSN store for free, I really don't think anyone would be complaining.

The fact that they are dangling behind a preorder as incentive gives leeway for people to bitch and moan.
 
This generation is all about broken games so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a Street Fighter V Beta doesn't even go further than a title screen.
 
Yeah, lots of entitled/angry people here, but half of the blame should be placed on the gaming industry with beta's normally meaning glorified early demo. It also would of been better if this was called something else, technical alpha maybe? Even better, network stress test.

I'm just happy I got to touch this 9 months before coming out. Japan always had the latest fighting games in the arcade and all we could do here in the states was twiddle our thumbs and watch. When's the last time we were able to play a fighting game WAY before it came out? I can't think of any and we always just kind of blind purchased on day 1, yet here we are with the ability to actually "feel out" the game, albeit for a few minutes at a time.

Well the difference is if the same problem exists at launch in that login servers are dead, people would be able to get past the title screen and play arcade/local versus/training etc. whereas in a network beta I just want to know if Capcom's netcode for their AAA fighters is still bad or not

if the login servers die immediately just take that shit down and call it a day, they should've delayed the beta as soon as they started the maintenance last night. nobody's benefiting from login servers repeatedly being hammered over and over

Gonna have to disagree with you here. Street Fighter and other Capcom games have had online play on home consoles for even longer than Call Of Duty has had online play on consoles. In Japan Capcom released versions of games with online play for the Dreamcast and Playstation 2. IIRC the first worldwide console port with online play was CvS2 EO on Xbox in 2003. This is not a new thing for them.

Regardless, I still don't see the point in freaking out over a beta test getting postponed due to problems. It happens.

Yeah totally. I'm pretty sure Capcom wanted everyone to be able to log in and play immediately to test the netcode as well. But fortunately they caught an issue, are working on it, providing updates, and will extend it. There's a huge difference in this scenario than knowingly releasing a broken product at launch. It's unfortunate if people lose some of their window to play, for sure, but in the long run it's best this gets addressed during testing.
 
I got into this beta somehow. I don't remember signing up for it and the last time I played a fighting game was Soul Calibur 3.

Hope it's fun!

The beta defense here is more ridiculous than the complaining. You know that people got this to play the game, if it was just testing the net code no one would've pre-ordered for it.
 
I think my version of the Street Fighter V Start Screen/Press any button Beta is broken, Sometimes ill get this strange fighting game to pop up, weird.

Obviously a joke
hope they extend the Beta a few days once its fixed and I can get back to Pressing any Button.
 
Shades of Driveclub launch around here. I was patient then, I'll be patient now. (and I pre-ordered on PSN, but I was always going to buy the game anyway).

Even if you can't make this beta you still have 2 more coming up. It sucks yeah you made plans but delays in things like this are expected to happen even if you have experienced other betas that have started off better it didn't mean this on was going to.

They shouldn't have been suckers and pre-ordered somewhere that takes your money without letting you get a refund then. There were multiple options to get in this beta without promising a company your money, I'm not going to feel bad because some people picked the only one where they had to pay their money and not have any chance at getting it back.

I don't think you can really compare CvS2 EO or SF3 Anniversary to a game with this type of matchmaking system. But either way, after giving my post a second thought, I realize it was probably dumb.

Seriously, what are you not getting? You will play the game, Capcom want you to play the game but right now there's an obvious bug that needs to be worked out and guess wha? This is part of the process so that this doesn't happen at launch.
 
You know what's sadder than people complaining/feeling disappointed for this completely broken online infrastructure/beta? Corporate apologist mofos telling them how they should and shouldn't feel because this is a beta. The fuck outta here, sons.
