Students feed unsuspecting classmates and professor pot brownies.

I've gotten paranoid a couple times, one time included thinking I was going to suffer some sort of heart attack. It's not funny to do that to someone.

Yup, this is quite common when over indulging in marijuana, edible or not. Now at least when you willingly, and knowingly consumed it your self you know in the back of your head its just the pot; these people would have had no such reassurance. Completely fucked up to put someone through that.

Poisoned?? Yeah I dunno about that. I've never heard of anyone being allergic to weed.
From this thread:
Funny you should say this- someone gave me a pot brownie once, and it triggered a pretty severe allergic reaction. Apparently the seeds/oils are close enough to most nuts (almonds, walnuts, brazils, etc) that it triggered my allergy- eyes and throat swelling shut, tongue going numb, the whole 9 yards. Lucky me I spit it out before it got too bad, but someone else might not be so fortunate.

The older one's 21. Probably the average age of a GAF poster.

It was a poke at the other poster. I know these are not kids.

I knew people who pulled this shit in high school. They were complete assholes, but I did find it amusing as an onlooker rather than a victim/participant.

Glad to see 99% of us agree on how wrong this is.

I'm sure they will be expelled. Drugging a professor will guarantee that.

I would like to see them get at least a month in jail too... But I have a feeling the victims will step in and prevent that from happening. They were probably friends, or at least somewhat friendly, to get to the point of trusting each other to bring in homemade food.

Ugh, gross, how can you think this is an okay thing to do? Sharing pot brownies is good, but you tell the people you are giving them to what is in them. Why wouldn't they say something?

Idiots. WTF were they thinking?

But hospitalized people? C'mon. If you can't taste the pot in the brownie it is probably not enough to hurt anyone. What exactly is the 'treatment' the hospital gives? Feed them pizza?

Only time I ever tried hippy lettuce was in brownie form, and I couldn't really taste it. It was also so strong that I pretty much lost all sight and hearing for a few minutes and my mind was so screwed up that i thought i was dead. :/ So I can't blame anyone for having a strong negative reaction to the stuff.

Wow, it's startling to see such intense hatred for teenagers that at heart, are probably not bad people. Just dumb and....young. It's sad.

If this was out of spite, I'd be closer to agreeing with you, but I imagine that this entire thing was a result of "haha let's do it, it'll be funny", their actions riding on the back of its recent legalisation, with no real afterthought of the consequences put in.

I imagine they severely regret their actions, I'm interested to find out if they do, anyway.

In which case, they are absolute morons and deserve to be called scum. I can't believe you're defending young men who drugged people against their will, knowledge, consent, whatever. Let's suppose they didn't get into trouble for this....I'm inclined to wonder how long it would have been before they were drugging girls at parties, because, "Hehe it'll be funny." Excuses excuses.

It was a guy and girl who made the brownies.

Edibles really are a different entity.

I remember the first time I tried a brownie, I ended up throwing up for half the night. Second time, I settled with half of one and I was the happiest camper.

Potency is pretty key here. I'm wondering how strong the brownies were made, and I can't believe they went through all that trouble of purchasing/straining/baking just to poison people. I'm with expulsion, some months of jail time, and community service for these fools.

You only start to think crazy if you let the seed develop in your mind. Or you're weak minded.

Damnit, Kevin! Pass the blunt!

Maybe... Though it may already be out of their hands.

I don't think you get it. The fact that they thought this was a harmless prank just goes to show that they should be given harsh consequences. They're either malicious trolls or stupid. However it's the kind of stupid that can send people to the hospital or worse because they can't reasonably think for a fucking minute about how drugging people without their consent or knowledge is a bad idea. People go to jail for bad decisions while driving. I don't see why these college students deserve any less.

A felony is a crime punishable by death right?

Yes, I agree that they messed up. Yes, I agree that they deserve some long term, strict punishment for this, involving plenty of community service giving presentations to high school kids on drugs, their effects and the multitude of hidden dangers behind them. I am not however, prepared to consider these kids as amongst the lowest of the low, when they are quite probably, not bad people, but simply just stupid.

If they've been exposed Marajuana in such a way that plenty of people amongst my age group have, then they probably didn't even imagine for a second how dire the consequences could have been for those around them.

What would you call it if someone had an adverse reaction to food you gave them?

Just earlier someone posted on how someone had an allergic reaction similar to that of nuts.

It's also possible to consume marijuana orally in the form of herbal teas and in baked goods. Allergic reactions have also been reported from eating marijuana, including urticaria and angioedema. Cross-reactivity has been found between marijuana and other foods, including peach and tomato, similar to that seen in oral allergy syndrome. Therefore, it is possible that allergies to other pollens and fruits could predispose a person to developing an allergy to eating marijuana. The treatment of allergy from eating marijuana is the same as that for other food allergies.

A felony is a crime punishable by death right? In which case, may I ask quite politely.

Are you fucking insane?

What on earth are you talking about?

"Felony" covers pretty much all serious crimes from driving drunk, to rape, to murder, and everything in between.

I've eaten very potent pot brownies/foods like ~5 times in my life. Every time I've planned carefully, made sure that I wasn't going overboard, and knew exactly what I was getting up to. And, in each case, without fail, there is some moment (in some cases, many, many moments) where I am so crushed that I began to worry that something is wrong with me.

If someone fed me pot brownies without my knowledge of their potness, I really believe that I might freak out.

Even pretty heavy stoners cannot take some of the edibles they have out now. Joey Diaz, a regular on Joe Rogan's podcast, had these really hardcore cookies which another stoner ate without realizing, and this guy, who was also a pretty heavy stoner but not as much so as Joey Diaz, had some problems dealing with the effects of the cookie.

And that was just one cookie.

Fuck the idiot stoners who made the first marijuana experience for some people real fucking shitty. I really hope my first experience is not similar.

I just wikipedia'd it again to make sure, (probably why I'm wrong, but still).

The term felony is very broad covering crimes of varying type and severity. You cannot generalize "felony".

(except for any felony on your record will make your life much harder in general)

Different people react differently to pot. I react incredibly badly to pot. I'm a very mellow and relaxed person, and yet pot just fucks with me in ways and I either a) go to sleep so that the effects can wear off or b) try to remain calm on the outside but be in full panic mode on the inside. Last time I smoked I did a single hit (in a comfortable environment) and was in bed for 4 hours with extreme heart palpitations.

Pot can also trigger schizophrenic episodes with some people. It may be harmless for most people, but some people can react badly to it. Especially if you don't know you ingested any it might induce panic quite easily.

Capital felony

Execution or life imprisonment

Class A felony (murder)

25 to 60 years, up to $ 20,000, or both

Class A felony

10 to 25 years, up to $ 20,000, or both

Class B felony

1 to 20 years, up to $15,000, or both

Class C felony

1 to 10 years, up to $ 10,000, or both

Class D felony

1 to five years, up to $ 5,000, or both

Class A misdemeanor

Up to one year, $2,000, or both

Class B misdemeanor

Up to six months, $1,000, or both

Class C misdemeanor

Up to three months, $500, or both

these are for Connecticut but kind of explains the levels of a felony. Some states do not have a death penalty for a felony.

Washington state does not carry a death penalty for a Class A felony.

No, a "felony" is simply a crime one step above a misdemeanor, which can mean a prison sentence, or, in an extreme case, execution.

In no way does felony = death sentence.

You have not answered the question of how your opinion of this situation would change if a death, or other serious injury, had occurred.

What?

Exaggeration of what a felony can land you in court if guilty.

Assault and attempted assault are felonies.

None of those are punishable with death.

Pleasantly surprised with how the first page of this thread went. Guess I've been spending too much time on reddit to expect otherwise.

How many more years do they need to figure out that it's not okay to drug other people? 21 and 19 seems long enough.
