Suda51: No More Heroes 3 "in 20 years", no Kickstarter

The man was obviously kidding (as expected) during out interview, but it still might take some years. However, he'd get GungHo support, is definitely interested, and still has things to do with Travis:

"Yeah, No More Heroes 3, I get a lot of requests from fans and I'm very grateful for that, but I'm thinking it may happen within 15 years or so? (laughs). Maybe not through Kickstarter, but GungHo would of course be supportive if that were to happen (...)"

"I think I have the vision that Travis forgot something, so I really have to have him to go back and get back what he has forgotten. But yeah, I definitely want to make it possible, but I also want to create something new, so maybe within 15 to 25 years (laughs)!"

Back to the Future+NMH?

I'll be ready with my pink surfboard and funky futuristic shades Suda.

What else are you going to work on the next 20 years anyway?

Doesn't make sense tbh

I don't know if it would actually take 20 years, but there is the issue of NMH not being owned by either Grasshopper or GungHo to contend with. I doubt Marvelous would be too remiss in loaning it out, but it's not as simple as "hey, let's just make a new one."

20 years is a really long time, for all we know Grasshopper could shut down, go full mobile, etc. Hell, Suda could get in an accident or something.

I'm willing to wait for No More Heroes 3 (since 2 blew my mind with how hype it was) but I was hoping it'd be way sooner. Either way, day one.

I wish Suda 51 would stop messing around with these "commercial" games like Lollipop Chainsaw and make something as fucked up as Killer 7.

It's just a jokey reference to Shenmue 3, it's not like he literally means 20 years. He's just saying he'd like to revisit NMH but is working on other stuff right now.

Question that no one has ever asked until now.

I want to see more of Let It Die, if only for people to stop whining about Lili Bergamo.

Was the second game even any good? I don't hear favorable things.

Grasshopper was releasing games one after another, quality aside, then they were bought out by Gungho.... their output kinda evaporated and their last game that was in pre production before the buy out got canceled. I don't really think they are as supportive of Suda51's bombas as he likes to suggest here... wondering what will happen to GH, when/if they can get Let it Die out at all.

Interesting that he said he still has stuff to do with Travis. NMH2 was as definitive of an ending to his arc as you'd get, especially after it basically wove a story out of a character who, in the first game, was never meant to have a story and was more of a personified avatar of player mentality. It was why the rampantly ludicrous ending kept being lampshaded.

Also, there's the fact that a future for Travis was already specified in a skit from The Outer Rim, where Sylvia and Travis, now married, were space explorers hundreds of years in the future after Travis supposedly achieved immortality. Granted one may dispute the canonicity of that and I guess that's where the "Travis has forgotten something" as Suda puts it, might come into play.

I was kind of hoping that No More Heroes 3 would kind of been more like the concept sketches of Lily Bergamo. A female assassin protagonist would have been great, many of the females in No More Heroes are incredibly good and I'd like to have been in a role like that.

More than Lily turning into Let it Die, I'm still really sad that the initial concepts of Lily weren't supposed to be a NMH spin off starring Shinobu

Killer is Dead shares a lot of its narrative structure with killer7, but the narrative itself is some random, cheap light novel bullshit - nothing coming close to k7's themes

this.

i want lily bergamo.

asking for sequels or HD games is bullshit.

go buy the original game(5er for the game, 20euros for the wii) or the fucked up HD release for ps3 (tons of loading times, bad graphics, tons of slow downs and a lot of shit to buy as dlc)

First 2 games need an HD collection. The first one did come out for PS3, but has horrendous technical issues.

I'd like for them both to be on Steam. Really enjoyed the first on the Wii, but by the time NMH2 was released, I had became bored of the Wii and didn't buy it.

I felt two ended Travis' story well. I don't need more games in the series.

I would prefer Suda just try to make an original title with similar themes like Killer 7.
