Game is bought and downloading! Bring on the Blight!

This is the best JRPG that you can play. Suikoden 1, 2 and 5 are insanely good games (I have not played 3 or 4).

3 is great, and one of my favorite PS2 RPGs, but it can be jarring if you come straight from 2 (there are a lot of structural differences, but the soul is still there). 4 was ho-hum for me, sailing was far too boring and I HATED the cat people.

1, 2, and 5 are the best in the series in my opinion.

5 follows the spirit of 1 and 2 but in 3D. Suikoden III has this weird battle mechanics, S4 has ultra slow ship travel as it's worldmap design.

The only redeeming thing I like about Suikoden 4 was the pretty nifty final boss theme, The race of Cat people, much like the Kobold Dog people in S1 and S2, and Rienbach the 3rd.

i must experience it though

You might like it. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. I enjoyed it more than S3 personally but that's because I didn't like the multiple protagonists. Sadly they cut a lot of content that was in the others but you should enjoy it if you take it for what it is.

I replayed this earlier this year and I'm really glad it's out for everybody to buy now. I think I paid $75-80 bucks for it in the early 2000s when I first started college. I initially skipped it for FFVIII but I feel like it's the more interesting release of the time and is much more fleshed out than Suiko 1. The graphics are pretty good with a lot of nice lighting effects on the sprites that give the game some depth.

From what I've researched it sounds like the director of the game wanted to make Suiko 2 first but was inexperienced in leading game development so he made Suiko 1 to build up to it. It definitely paid off as Suiko 2 is huge and expands on everything that made the first awesome.

I do enjoy Suiko 1's music more though. I gotta track down my copy of Suikoden 3 but I can't remember whom I lent it to so I'll prob gotta rebuy it. Oh well that one's cheap at least.

Oh shit, I woke up my brother from his nap, blasting the Suikoden Opera choir intro on my TV speakers at full volume.

Oh well. The soundtrack is awesome and it's glory deserving to be magnified.

Just grabbed it through the web store :D

Order I originally played the games:

Suikoden III
Suikoden I
Suikoden IV
Suikoden Tactics
Suikoden V

I never played II, so this will be my first time. I still have my lvl 59/108 Stars complete Suikoden I save too! Really odd process getting the game onto my old PSPGo through my PS3.

I have the same opinion *high five*

YES!! *group hive five*

EDIT - First Suikoden 2 as a PSOne Classic on December 9th (one of my favorite RPGs of all time)

and then KOF '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition on December 12th for Steam which is arguably the best incarnation of my favorite SNK fighting game of all time.

The stars must have aligned perfectly or something to get re-releases of two of my most favorite games of all time so close to my birthday (Dec 16th)

In terms of my experience of retro gaming. This year will be very, very, difficult to top if ever.

Game has been purchased! Now to play the waiting game until this evening after work and my final exam so I can actually download it.......

Dat neclord battle music so good.
Suikoden 1 and 2 had both the best soundtracks, I even got the OST from the 1st one.
Still need to buy the 4 discs of the 2nd game.

I own both soundtracks but haven't listened to them in a while. I think I'll do something about that today.

Who's everyone favourite non-main characters (i.e. gotta recruit them).

Of course there's the staples:

Pesmerga
(personification of Order & The Shield, antithesis to Yuber - personification of Chaos & The Sword)
Clive

But everyone loves those 2 characters, let's get deep:

Wakaba is pretty awesome. A kung fu girl.
He joins automatically but I'm a fan of Klaus.
But the best? Gotta get me some Georg. Original cheesecake wielding badass from Queendom of Falena. Why is he on the run? Only way you'll know is by playing Suikoden V!

I'm happy it was earlier than usual. Typically I've waited longer for the store to update. This takes me back to shopping at Babbages. The Suikoden series always had the box art that stood out. Last time I played a Suikoden is was Suikoden V.

It was $5.99 and not $9.99. That's one hell of a deal. It's almost too good of a deal, but it's wonderful to finally own a copy I can take with me on the go.

Thanks for Jason Schreier and Konami's community team. The awareness is what makes this happen.

I am the Online Content Producer here at Konami (El Segundo)

I work with several others, like ToraShir0, on Neogaf to communicate with members of the Konami community and find out what our fans want as well as don't like.
Currently, I host pretty much all of the streams on Twitch if you want to talk to me directly.

Kewl, hellos

Major effing FUCK YOU to Sony.

I can't add funds to my account because I'm not in in the United States (I get an error code any time I try), even though I have a US based card with a US address

I bought a digital card for $10 through Amazon, yet I can't added it to my wallet because the freaking website isn't loading.

InstallBase, thank you very, very much for your efforts on this; these days it feels like fans are finally having their voices heard! I played parts of Suikoden 1 and 2 in Japanese, where the original disks are readily available for a few hundred yen each, but had never experienced the latter one in English.

When I played Suikoden 1 for the first time, I actually bought a handsomely-illustrated translation of the original "Water Margin" story, Shui Hu Chuan (Pearl S. Buck's "All Men Are Brothers"), and I'm going to take that up again too.

Looking forward to this sequel!
