I guess I just haven't found a singular critic I can respect, although I should probably look a bit harder.
Well it certainly isn't easy!

Most other mediums have like, a pantheon of well respected critics and hundreds of other possibles in magazines, newspapers etc.

e: Favorite OP ever? That's a tough one, but Baccano's Guns & Roses is a top contender.

Sounds more like something is getting shoved in her throat as she hoarsely muffles the song out.

Maybe it's a hint at being sexually abused by Meme's husbando when she was young. Deep!
I don't even know what we are arguing about anymore! L('-'L)
It's just a op song, and there is a reason for it to be that way, but it won't win a singing contest... It wouldn't be the first time an op or ed is "out of the ordinary".

edit: Holy shit, AnimeGAF actually likes JAM Project? Maybe I need to listen to more of their songs.

I much prefer the work of one of the members of JAM Project than the group itself, Yoshiki Fukuyama aka Nekki Basara from Macross 7 >_>

Man, you guys really need to watch some good quality anime again. How about rewatching Air Gear?

Never seen it, how bad could it be?

It could be worse. I mean, you could be watching YuriYuri.

Oh believe me I tried.

I couldn't make it past the 2nd episode.

Manga started out amazing then became a convoluted mess. Don't know how the anime is, but I hear it has the Cube battle which is among the best "tournament" matches in anime/manga imo.

Looks like the Idolm@ster BD release is getting two-sided covers:

Poor Haruka. Why would ANYONE use her side instead of Miki's?

AkibaBlog also published a small interview with producer Toba about future episodes of the show; he confirmed that, as expected, episodes 11-13 are a "climax" of sorts, with lots of dancing and singing and "live performances", that will supposedly bring a big change to atmosphere of the show for the second half.

YuruYuri >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AirGear

SUPAROBO SUPAROBO
GOD GRAVION
Saviour in the Dark

Jam project spread awesome over games, anime and even live action. Most of their songs are about giant robots and justice, which suits me just fine

Yes, Air Gear has Obama as a central side character.

Sounds cool.

Actually your avatar reminds me that I should finish watching Deadman now I've caught up with the manga.

This page contains my own list, a long with plenty of others:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=407862&page=314

That is as Jexhius a list as I have ever seen

Welp, might as well (obviously some these links will contain spoilers):

Overall (taking into account music AND how it's animated)
Cowboy Bebop - Tank
Samurai Champloo - Battlecry
RahXephon - Hemisphere
Wolf's Rain - Stray
Bacanno! - Guns & Roses
Durarara! - Uragiri no Yuuyake
Elfen Lied - Lillium
Sengoku Basara - Jap (say what you will but this OP rocked)
Xam'd of The Lost Memories - Shut Up And Explode
Gundam 00 S2 - Hakanaku mo Towa no Kanashi
Ergo Proxy - Kiri (how could a show so bad have an OP so good?)
Speed Grapher - Girls On Film (but the second version of this OP)
Eden of the East - Falling Down (honestly one of the G.O.A.T. openings)

This list isn't exhaustive but I always go back to these.

OP's Based On Song
Hajime no Ippo: The New Challenger - Hekireki (you could probably stick this in the list above though. I love how the show's title only really appears towards the end)
Darker Than Black - Howling -Inch Up-
Nana - Wish
Gundam SEED Destiny - Pride
Fullmetal Alchemist - Rewrite
Nabari no Ou - Crawl
Blood+ - Aozora no Namida
