I somehow have to get my hands on a Vita so I can actually start playing this series. D:

I even dropped the anime after 2 or 3 episodes to play the games back when it was current.

PSTV plays all the games and is like 30 bucks now.

The Testament of Sister New Devil ep. 4-END
OK, I must say I enjoyed this one as a story and how it played out. The MC had some balls and was a fighter (A little OP, yeah, but he got his a$$ handed to him a few times and the girls had to save him) and the girls had personality and fight, even though they all just wanted to jump on his junk; you know, they had a magical servent/master pact and all, lol. Funny enough, but he never did end up getting with any of the girls in the end, even though they are all his for the taking...

Now, with that being said, I am going to sound contridictory here... I really wish they could have toned down the censorship and get rid of the stupid little chibi characters blocking everything since it's just damn annoying and nothing major was actually happening anyway, also, toned down the overzeleous fanservice at times implanted for no reason, and finally, they should have had the succubus use her adult form the whole time, rather than reverting her back to her loli form... Yes, it would have been much better to get through all three of those.

And yes, I now remember I have already seen the "sensei" OVA for this one (wow, just wow, it's an experience for sure..)

So....the sexy nurse in Testament of Sister New Devil...

She's the main character's aunt? And they bang?

And everyone is just okay with that?

Really?

don't trust those people, PW is a great game. It's way better than 4.

if you don't like PW you're in for a bad time with V anyways, since it's just an expanded version of the PW concept

Well V plays 100x better then PW and isn't hitting me in the face with cutscenes with QTE in them so I am liking it a lot better. PW was a bit too Monster Hunter for me and essentially the entire plot was both shitting on The Boss' legacy and Big Boss somehow not understanding what the hell The Boss sacrificed herself for when Eva explained it to him pretty thoroughly at the end of 3. I am not that far in but I played Ground Zeroes and it played great so I already knew I would enjoy V. I could not get into Peace Walker at all. It kind of saddens me there will never be another Metal Gear like 1-3, though. I don't mind the open world stuff as much as I mind the segmented up sections in PW (I find you have to end up waiting on choppers a bit too much) but I still think I prefer the path that is laid in front of you method.

Why do people gave shit to MGS4? Sure story sucks because nanomachines but the gameplay is awesome and varied like mech fights, motorcycle chase and Solid vs Ocelot CQC brawler.

That motorcycle chase sucked, it the jeep sucked in 1 and the motorcycle sucked in 3, making it longer with less happening was not a good recipe. Those varied gameplay sections did not control well and were a mindblowing amount of pointless fanservice but they are still fanservice and I found them cool regardless. Here I even made a post about it not too long ago -

The game is seven years old at this point so those reasons have been stated over and over and over again. The most common (that I agree with are) that the game doesn't take enough time to fully introduce it's mechanics, stealthing through an active battlefield is really cool but that all disappears when Act 3 turns into a tailing mission that is more cutscene then gameplay. I didn't really think the Jeep section in MGS1 or the motorcycle section in MGS3 were very good but the one in MGS4 is worse and longer then both. The cutscenes break up the game far too often and the actual story content is downright insulting at times. Good moments are ruined by awful moments one after another, and the only satisfactory story arc was Otacon's (kind of) and Snakes...until it was ruined after the credits. None of the boss fights save for Laughing Octopus are very fun, cool or innovative and the Beauties are all just the same character. Drebin tells us about them after we beat them which is pretty pointless. Them being called Octopus, Raven, Wolf and Mantis to begin with is emblematic of the game itself - out of ideas and forced to dredge up the old to make new. The handwaving of "everything was nanomachines" has been shit on to death but going back and retroactively explaining things that didn't need to be explained like Vamp is a rather pointless exercise for a series that had mysticism and raising the dead as an accepted thing before. Everything having to do with romance. Everything having to do with Naomi. Sunny. FOXALIVE (ugh.) The Guns of the Patriots scene. Eva's character assassination. Raiden's character assassination. The Patriots being tricked by dumb shit all the time. The ludicrous Ocelot/Liquid plotline. Everything having to do with the Epilogue. There's just so, so much. I don't think they even should have tried setting a game after 2 to begin with, that was the first mistake.

That said there are a lot of good things about the game. Act 1 and 2 are good, the Ray vs Rex and final battles, while being egregious fanservice, are at least executed well. Well not mechanically well (the fight in particularly does not play well at all.) Snake and Otacon's arcs are done well compared to everyone else's. It's technologically and graphically impressive. But people dislike the game for a multitude of reasons.

Umm, none of them are really realated.... That was in the OVA, not the anime itself.

The fanservice was prety bad in the anime, but that OVA took it to EXTREME heights....

I wish they focused more on the story and action and less on the lewd crap as I wrote..

What the hell were you expecting. It's TLR. By Yabuki. It's the posterboy for that exact thing. People don't read it for the plot and if they do they read it for Nemesis who only shows up in plot times

LOL, I was referring to: The Testament of Sister New Devil, which I just watched.... different kind of ecchi, lol.

Then don't watch TLR. Seriously.

LOL, I already watched TRL, I guess It's better done wither in earnest, or in a comedic way, the way Testement did it was just because it helped "power up" the bond between master and servent. It was almost as bad as that one I watched about the dude gettin boners powered up his master, lol... Whatever, it's anime.

Never heard of it before, but sounds cool.
It is intense to say the least. It's an OVA to The Testament of Sister New Devil, and well, it's something else. Let's just say you cannot post any of the episode from start to finish.. I forget who posted about it here originally...

edit: well guess it wasn't in regards to TLR, but point may still stand?

I wish they focused more on the story and action and less on the lewd crap as I wrote..

But that part is fucking garbage. Complaining about the 'lewd crap' being in an ecchi show is rather dumb. You can always complain about the quality thereof, but I'm not going to complain about porn in porn so to say.

If anything TLR is somewhat entertaining because of how ludicrous it gets and what it tries to get away with. And even then it's extremely formulaic and not particularly clever about most of that.

Again, we we're talking about TRL.... I already watched that.... The Testament of Sister New Devil is the show I was talking about.. The actions sequesnces were pretty good and the story was as well (yes, a little tropey, but still pretty good)

Well, alright.

EDIT: Looked for some screenshots, saw a character that looked like Mitsuki from Sakura Trick, and now I'm sad because we'll never get more Sakura Trick :'(

how's Gangsta?

The latest episode animation wise gives the impression that perhaps Manglobe burned down, and half the work was lost in the fire.

Other than that, it's really solid. Good characters, and despite not being an action hero, a really good female lead in kind of an unexpected way.

It's reaaaaaaaaaaally good. Greatest surprise this season, went in expecting to hate it just from the name and overall "edgyness", but it's fantastic. Can't recommend it enough, the character interactions are the main attraction for sure. Tsutchie also doing god's work as always.

They always handle exposition in such a laid back and natural way, it rarely feels like an info dump.

Ergastulum keeps on giving, we learn more and more about it, but there's still so much more left to explore.

Charlotte - 7

So I decided to check out this particular episode of this show.

Why? Because from what I've read I've been lead to believe that this particular episode ripped off another particular episode of one of my favourite shows, Code Geass.

Now, I joked about KEY trying to be Sunrise from the moment I saw the main character and his description.

Yeah you can see the resemblance. Everyone sees the resemblance. That's nothing new. But it wasn't just the fact that the two looked alike, but it was also because of the fact that Not-Lelouch here apparently has the ability to possess somebody. For a certain amount of time, yes, but still.

You know who else had a body take over power? The main character (and other characters as well) from Valvrave. Another mecha show that Sunrise made back in 2013 that was crazy, but nobody really cares about it anymore.

So seeing this character have both the looks and abilities of two Sunrise characters, I thought that it was appropriate to deduce that KEY was trying to ape Sunrise. But surely this is all very coincidental right?

Well, it sure seemed as such until episode 7 of this show came along.

Now, let's stop there and talk about an episode of Code Geass. Specifically, episode 7 of Code Geass R2.

I'll give a brief description of a few things that goes down in that episode.

1. Main character with superpower learns something unfortunate about his sister and becomes depressed.

2. Main character with superpower abuses said superpower on gang members.

3. Main character almost does drugs until one of the main girls snaps him out of it and tells him to get his act together.

Now what happens in Charlotte episode 7? All of the above. No really.

Except that in Code Geass, there was a bunch of other plot they had to squeeze in to go along with that, so the angst and depression was minimal and not hard to sit through. In Charlotte, those three things are all they've got for the episode, and points 1 and 2 are stretched out for a looong time.

Bottom Line: This episode gives me a really good feeling that Jun Maeda watched Code Geass and this show was partially inspired by it. And since Code Geass went off its rocker later into the show, that makes me think this show will do the same.

Or maybe I'm looking too deep into this and I just really want that to happen just so a KEY show can stop taking itself so seriously and just go crazy. Crazy enough to make the show List-quality.

It would certainly make for more fun shows, that's for sure!

Goddamit ... Iso you bastard, I want my man card back.

I have some minor gripes, ones I will be able to either discard or better articulate after rewatch but fuck it. 10/10 ending. Would cry again.

Really? I've only watched 3 episodes so far, I think, can't see how it would change that much to make you cry in the ending. Can't wait to see it for myself.

This is a spoiler, but
his real power isn't special because he possesses people. He has to possess them in order for his true power to do its thing.

But yeah he was created as a Lelouch 2.0.

True power or not,
it still looks like Geass when he uses it and he's still possessing somebody all the same. Like in Valvrave. So it's not like it changes my argument much!

Also, if this show gets a dub they better get Johnny Yong Bosch to play as Yuu.

It'd be hilarious because he also played Lelouch in Geass and Yuu in Persona 4.

I know the feels bro. I just logged onto ep. 18 of Clannad After Story and even just watching the OP I get the feels man. I just had to watch the whole episode again and I feel it every time at the part in the field, from the flashback on.... Every time...

Yup, teared up a bunch of times during the lat 2 or 3 episodes.

I've got to say I was really glad the story actually comes together really well towards the end. It's not unusual for these sort of shows with large mysteries to completely fail to live up to actually tie everything together. Nah, this was very well thought-out.

Have a few minor qualms though, such as
the role the Nekome brothers played. Sousuke especially had a too simple motive and felt one-dimensionally evil when most of the other characters were rather well written.

Good afternoon, duckroll, FGC | TUSR, Kiritobread, moon cat, Metroid, and everyone else. First time actually posting in here, and I think the pacing of this thread slowed down enough to be more managable to look at, haha. I've heard of the legendary summer horror bans, so I'll keep my impressions brief.

I like how TUSR now embraces the FGC aura with that title. jiyuThug

Akame ga Kill 04

This episode was pretty silly. I'm just chuckling at the dialogue.

Sword Art Online II 21

Yuuki's big A-1 Pictures smile. :)

Then she logs off unexpectedly. :(

Dammit, now I have to watch the last few episodes of After Story, I just can't stop. At the scene with Sanae and Akio on the back steps.

Akio to Sanae:

Akio: "It's Ok Now"
Akio: "Youe did a fine job. It's your turn to cry now"
*Sanae start crying on his shoulder for the first time in 5 years...*

Dammit... The feels.
