Super Mario Maker e3 2015 trailer

Awesome. But why is the music in the maker itself sooo much better than while playing the level? Q.Q

Didn't know the item-bars were customizable, so the last row must indeed be something else?

Indeed. The fact that Koji Kondo worked on this game on remixing tunes and sound directing makes this title 10000 more awesome.

Don't know if it was posted earlier, but I found a level with Peach costume.

Here at 1:42.
I really don't like how every amiibo character is mini even though technically they can be super. It's confusing.

Oh, well, I guess it would have been too much work to make super versions and fire flower palette swaps for such an extra.

Yoshi in Mario World castles, blasphemy!

Also, the video show us at least 10 worlds (if you want to store more level I guess you'll have to upload them).

NWR is the only one that found flying powerups and uploaded video of them, but they didn't use them at all. In this video they find a feather hidden in an invisible block but immediately lose the cape on the next screen. In the level "Thwomps Are Your Friends" they found a propeller mushroom but couldn't figure out how to fly with it.

What are the odds they release a 3DS version at one point, with access to the thousands of levels created by Wii U owners on the GamePad?

Very high I believe.

I seriously doubt 3DS would be able to handle this game. Not without severe compromises. A port or sequel for the 3DS successor is likely though.

so if you're in an amiibo costume you're super BUT short so you can go through a one-block tall area without sliding or jump-jump-jump?

you could make a level that can be passed by that but regular super by having it so there's not enough room to slide, and have stuff that would drop on you and kill you if you broke the bricks, and have a brick at the end you have to break

I wouldn't read too much into the no DLC planned statement. Do you guys really think there won't be at least future updates to tie in with future amiibos? We'll go from there.

I watched those already and I was so baffled by what they were even doing.

Game journalists in general don't know how to play (Mario) games.

I could see them releasing a downloadable 'player' that just lets you download and play levels without the creation/uploading side. Or maybe they'll release a curated selection of courses packaged together at some point.

I think it's less that the editor won't work (IMO, it absolutely could) and more that the 3DS is unlikely to be able to handle the amount of stuff going on in the levels during gameplay.

I'd love to see some more challenging remixes of levels from the original games, or perhaps remakes of levels but in different Mario games. Maybe somebody could remake parts of various levels to make a best of classics playlist. The potential for this game is mind boggling!

Also, you know how levels require the creator to beat them before they can be uploaded? It would be great if you could watch a ghost of the creator beat the stage after you've died 10 times or so, just to make sure they didn't put any hidden tricks that are required to beat the level to troll.

I wonder if you'll be able to share courses with other users of the system without using online.

I'm not sure my son's really the right age for Miiverse yet…

Yeah, the editor's object limits are built with the Wii U's processor and RAM in mind, not the 3DS's.

In Germany, I preordered the game (with booklet) + amiibo edition for 50,- €. Amiibo are always worth 14,99,- € which would make the game worth 35,- € alla Splatoon. Just to give you an idea of the price range.

Considering the lack of insight that one sentence gives I doubt it's worth making a new thread for. For example, the last Mario Paint inspired game, Wario Ware DIY, didn't have everything unlocked from the get go but it's not like that detracted from the game.

That's a leap. We know you unlock amiibo costumes, so it's probably referring to that. It says nothing specifically about tools.

A bit disappointing. If I want to do a SMW Flying Ship level first with doors, bomb-ombs and bowser they should allow me to do it without the need to make ten grass/underground levels with koopas and gombas or finishing some of the levels included in the disc.

Maybe you have to complete some tutorials to unlock new elements or themes? That'd be cool, if you can do all the tutorials right away.

I have a question I don't think has been asked. Can you set the time limit so you could effectively have time attack stages. Do we also know if our uploaded levels with have any user stats with them and the ability for comments to be left or do we think it will just have a star rating system.

There are stats since the difficulty level auto adjusts and deaths can be displayed on the level (crosses show where the other players lost when you lose). There can also be miiverse posts displayed in the stage itself, we've seen it in some demo.

I don't see what's wrong with a playwall. Play a few levels that contain the devices so you see how they behave, then you can unlock them. This is what happened in Mario vs DK and Pushmo.

I presume the first playwall will be a couple of levels which will unlock the editor and the two rows of blocks we saw in the demo at E3. Then maybe complete a world of 4 levels or so to unlock a new row. Something like that.

It's only going to improve the overall quality of user uploaded levels.

I don't know... Mario vs DK is mainly a puzzle game with an extra editor, and Super Mario Maker is first and foremost an editor with some example levels. Just looking at the name you should expect out of the box a complete editor to make mario levels, even if I don't want to play the ones made by EAD. I hope they don't do a Mario vs DK forcing us to get "stars" to unlock tools, themes or music...
