Danthrax said:So it looks like we may have a Lunar character on our hands.
We've asked our group of arrangement supervisors to isten to an elite selection of Nintendo music and asked them to arrange several of their favorite songsl...which means there will be quite a number of songs.
You'll have to look forward to which ones.
AniHawk said:They said maybe 2 or 3 3rd party characters, and you expect someone from Lunar to make the cut?
It'll be Solid Snake, Sonic, and something else (Mega Man would be the other frontrunner)
This update wouldn't be too exciting for deaf gamers.Trax416 said:Why are people getting so excited? Am I missing something?

Not a monsterous leap, but definitely the Wii models are high poly and more detailed.
Dante said:So basically your saying unless everything I say is positive it's bunk?
I said the list of composers is real nice.
Trax416 said:In that picture, it is a big leap. However, it's also a pre-rendered model, not a screencap or how it will look in action.

Hunahan said:Well, I do try not to fall into the typical trap of overanalyzing every little miscellaneous, microscopic thing that Nintendo says or does, but I suppose it could be meant to leave us all guessing as to possible extra characters based on the wide array of composers associated here.
However, like I said, I don't really like to microanalyze all of their riddles, so I'll just leave it as a composer list until they're ready to actually talk some more about the game and let my sanity remain intact for this little while longer, eh.![]()

Ravidrath said:...So, for example, I go to the Zelda stage. First time I go, I get the classic arrangement. Second time, Mitsuda's. Third, time, MGS guy's. Basically, every stage has multiple arrangements from different people, and it cycles through them. Since people play this game to death, it keeps the music fresher on the inevitable controller-eroding playtimes.
Ravidrath said:I've read through this thread, and it seems like I'm the only one taking this to mean that every stage's theme will have multiple arrangements? That's pretty much what that says to me.

Really? Never heard of that. You have a source?soundwave05 said:I think Sonic has to be a lock pretty much. Sakurai's already said the only reason he wasn't in Melee was because of time issues.

But the swedish magazine +N mentioned Sonic in a Super Smash Bros. article. And they havent said that its a miss that the person who wrote it made.
So, there is a possibility then.

Still. With Mario and Sonic going together in the olympics game, why not in Brawl?HAL_Laboratory said:Yeah but then again, Sonic isn't doing so well these days. People were still nuts about Sonic Adventure when Melee was made. Would that have any influence on their decision... who knows?

...well, they already announced the release date today, so probably.Mithos Yggdrasill said:Observation: Something has changed in the Retro Studios website: I kept an eye on it regulary and I sow right now, for the first time, that the date has changed from 2003 to 2007. When you load the site it still says 2003. As the site loads in it switches to 2007. soundwave05 said:I wonder if they've also maybe changed their mind on only 2-3 third party characters.
After all, the game was originally supposed to come out with the Wii launch or at least earlier on in the Wii's lifecycle presumably.
The difference is that Iwata said he wanted it at launch (before even approaching anyone to direct), Sakurai said there will be only 2-3 3rd party characters. Guess who is making the game?soundwave05 said:I wonder if they've also maybe changed their mind on only 2-3 third party characters.

Kojima mentioned the game feels complete, if Nintendo is not shipping it until Nov/Dec for sales purposes, there's still lots of time for characters to be added. Maybe also given the success of the Wii in Japan, I wonder if more 3rd party designers are coming to Nintendo now and saying "hey we'd like our character in there also".
"Daily Weekday"Charlatanized said:I still don't know what a "Daily Weekly" update is, but this site has me pretty stoked. That composer list not only has me looking forward to a ton of beautiful music, but it really illustrates the force and scope the developers are putting behind this one--seems like all stops are pulled. It seems as though Wii media--especially first party Wii media--has been really dry, and Smash Dojo now gives me something to look forward to as it regularly reveals bits of media and info on what is sure to be a massive game (hell, Melee was massive; I can't wait to see what six years and an obvious lot of passion does for the sequel). And say what you want about Wii tech, I think the game looks beautiful.
Sorry, I know I'm supposed to be disappointed that they didn't reveal Mr. Saturn, Akuma, and the cherries from Pac-Man as playable characters and vow to include a package of donuts with every copy, but this little update and the promise of future updates has me really looking forward to the game.

But it depends on what Sakurai wants obviously, he is directing. I doubt Iwata would come in to push much more 3rd party characters down his throat.soundwave05 said:I'm pretty sure the original design spec for the game didn't call for 36 different composers either though, heh. That's probably something that developed naturally out of the design process.
