I can see new content coming well past the spring of next year. We will get Cloud and a vet next month maybe, and probably a ballot character sometime next year along with maybe another 3rd party. Hope we get an update to make 1v1 tournaments online.

This is the last thing of Smash news, so I think it's stopping soon.

No time to waste on Wolf, he sucks. Give me Cloud, Shovel Knight, and Dragon Ball GT Kid Goku who's not a manga dude.

Snake 5/10, i could see him coming back since he would be easy to implement but i don't know if anybody at Konami would care making a push for him. Strong hype potential for sure.

Simon Belmont 4/10
Niche and not relevant. Does nothing for internet hype but would be a good fit no real negative here in terms of rights and fit

same as Belmont but a bit more relevant

No real history here but this didn't stop Cloud, SE might want to push her in in a two for one deal. She's also a bit more retro than MC and ND, probably to realistic in her current state and too raunchy in her classic form. Also too western.

I don't think Cloud getting in suddenly means "relevancy on a Nintendo platform" is no longer important. Sakurai wanted Banjo Kazooie in Melee, but due to Rare going to MS, it couldn't happen.

The fans want him because many grew up on the N64 and he was "relevant" to them. So they voted for him in the ballot. If they can work something out with Microsoft it would be awesome. With Phil Spencer in charge, I think Banjo in Smash is actually realistic at this point.

As we have now reps for Capcom (2 x), Namco, Sega and Square-Enix... there are some choices left regarding Konami. That can only mean: Snake (or Big Boss) or Simon Belmont. I'd be happy with either one. Bring it nom nom. That's about it for third party characters. Or they give Konami the finger and they'll include Leon just for giggles. Actually, give me Leon. In RE 4 get-up. With RE 2 and 6 as alts.

As for new Nintendo characters... Sakurai, pls. Gimme Ridley. Just gimme.

Nintendo has a very good relationship with SE these days and tons of FEs so chosing the most popular FF char isn't aa surprising as Snake tbh.

Nintendo has no relationship with Naughty Dog for example.

I feel that, if Nintendo was intending to release a content-complete version, or an NX port ready for launch, these plans would already be in motion.

Japanese and European PR

Although, it doesn't actually say it's the last news, just the last Smash specific Direct.

So it can either be taken as the end of Smash DLC, or the end of Smash getting special Directs.

I actually think it'll be a mix of both. The entire DLC plan of Smash up to summer will be announced, including the final character count and time frames for release, but the DLC itself doesn't technically end in December.

Everyone's harping on about new characters whilst there's still crucial parts of the game that need improvement. Online play and solo modes could really do with some spicing up, so I'll gladly take much needed improvements to those areas before we get a new character. ESPECIALLY Online, Smash is lightyears behind Mario Kart 8 in terms of Online features and general enjoyment.
