I ain't gonna believe anything, everybody predicted lower specs then we got for PS4 and it was more powerful and it was still underpowered by launch.
A lot can happen between now and 2020

I'm only surprised at the memory, the rest is in line with what's out there plus personal guess.
As for the games that's not news either because of everything that got delayed/pushed back to 2019, that was a hint to me.
If the raw performance is 12-6TF+ then I'll be ecstatic, because I seriously want a fucking true 4K/60 native console/machine.
And considering that PlayStation carried the weight after the PS3 mess and pretty much saved Sony as a whole they owe this division some love.
The amount of memory tends to be higher on dev kits.

Are people asking for credibility in a rumor/leak thread?.....I mean, how does that work, does the leaker have to reveal his sources? Does everything he leaked before need to be true? It's rumor and leak season......People want to speculate, let them.....I'm sure some people made their own specs up and posted it somewhere on the internet, some may have sources or heard from a guy who works at EA, that's fine..... Even here, people are posting what they think the specs will be, people are only discussing and musing what could be, or what they'd like to see.....It's only a specualtion thread rather than a fact filled thread, People are only discussing the leak.....Nothing can be proven either way......Until Sony says, "here, this is what you're getting"............

I must say, these specs sound exciting ... I can only hope they're right...

I'm not expecting Graphics to improve a great deal from where we are now, oh sure they'll be improvements, but I'm expecting it to be minor.

Rather I want a step-up in everything else AI, physics, cloth sim, worlds that genuinely feel alive remember the original Witcher 3 video that was released and how everyone shouted downgrade afterwards... that's what I'm talking about. Think the original Anthem footage before the downgard

Breezes blowing in the wind smoke billowing out of chimneys children and other NPCs playing about big actions occurring in the background that have no real consequence on the player but just add to the overall aesthetic if they can add that next gen then once again I am on board.

He simply presents a B3D mod with some evidence or credentials while hiding his identity. Are we going to make a new thread here for everyone that invents specs and pretends to be an insider?

20 GB = 16 GB GDDR + 4 GB DDR

Bada bing, bada boom.
The funny thing about that is, that it would free up a lot of space on the board, emit less heath, which in turn might save on cooling and make for a smaller form factor.
Oh let's not forget draw less power and make way for a beefier GPU/CPU...
But 16x1Gb probably triumphs all that because it might be cheaper hence why Sony did that with PS4 (chips of 512Mb x 16, 8 on each side).

Bite your tounge. The difference in 1gb ram can literally mean 30% increase in resolution for devs. Any mb of ram is meaningful in game development on fixed hardware.

Legit I believed it would be 4gb too until crytec was the first devs to adamantly say 8 gb or death publically.
It probably was a little more to it than just that. Come on man! lol

PS4 was announced at a PlayStation event and E3 would be too far from launch to get things like the launch lineup confirmed.

PSX would be the better event for all those exact details to surface.
Provide first-look to the ones actually buying it and line-up, yada yada it could work.
The press and technical stuff at Meeting 2019 and game shit for PSX as per usual but with a new console added to the mix.

Well, I'm not sure we are going to get spec leaks from anyone who absolutely knows, like Yoshida and Cerny.....It would be grapevine stuff for the most part and know one who knows is going to speak it and put his credentials out, that's just asking for trouble.......

Yet, it's leaking/rumor season, console is imminent....An influx of such threads is not really out of the ordinary...At this point, we just have to know that everything has to be taken with huge buckets of salt......One of these leakers may be right or maybe none are, but it's the cycle and we will only really know till Cerny comes on a stage and do the rubber ducky.....This simply reminds me of NPD prediction threads.....Till the NPD....

To add to the above, I hope we're all sober enough to realize that Sony could send out a invitation any given day.
That's just how close we are, it's been 6 years after all nothing should be surprising anymore as anything could happen any moment.
Leaks in the form of "this is it with internal docs illustrating the whole thing" isn't going to happen, those secrets are kept too close to the chest and limited to only a few I'd reckon.
At least people aren't fighting and most realize that nothing is confirmed until the platform holder says otherwise....in that case hell would freeze over before it happen :/

It was multiple third party devs requesting it and word that Microsoft was going 6-8 gb but slow DDR3. But mark Cerny personally made the survey for devs to fill out.

The thing for sony is first they go to their in house devs who are not spoiled and not greedy as they coded on 32mb. And ask them for spec advice first. This was how PS3 was developed, never asking EA if CELL CPU okay for them.

It wasn't. The current launch coding and debugging software was awful and badly translated from Japanese. Cell documentation was non-existent and PS3 was first hardware to use it not on super computers. So the English console manufacture who made a hybrid cell cpu but with threads instead of spu's.. Had the better development environment.

Cerny really being there seeing Kaz be an island taught him how to be a better game console architect.

There is a great story of how a dev team of 100 people at midway only had one person who knew how to boot PS3 dev kits in a play testable way. They coded mostly blind. And simulating on 360. Whole PS3 developments with barely anyone knowing what to do.

Sony than created the ice team of specialist to train devs in multiple coding tricks for cell and their GPU. This ice team was also sent to games close to launch to improve their frame rates. Was absolute bonkers first 3 years of PS3.

So we're going to see this at the Summer PSX Tour with Demon's Souls 2 announced as a launch title. Probably going to cost $599 but that's too surprising since we live a world where people pay a rack just for a damn iPhone. If it's going to be $599 though they're going to need DeSo2, Death Stranding, and GT7 as launch titles to get enough people to bite.

I'll be interested to see if he can actually back up the claims. If he can and is verified this is pretty huge.

Are you daft or something? It is a speculative thread just like every other rumor based speculative thread from seemingly random person on the internet.
So anyone writing a plausible (as in, not totally devoid of BS, just enough to make it BS anyway) spec sheet is thread worthy?

Basically i can write a thread and claim it comes from Hellpoint Dev and its all okay if it sounds gullible enough?

The point which was clearly pointed out in the OP was that the Wii U leak which also came from BY3D also happened randomly from someone with very few posts history without any credibility but it turned out they were right.
So because Random B3D user with low posts proved right in hindsight, this is somehow equally threadworthy, in foresight?

Atleast verify with B3D staff or something like that.

It is getting rather tiring seeing you act stupid in every thread @onQ123 is in.
Then perhaps onQ123 shouldn't grasp every paper example of a straw and run with it. Mind you i also asked valid questions in that same comment but you nor him did address that. From the OP that is to be expected since i am a glitch but instead of addressing the what in my eyes are valid points aside the harsh tones, OP rather makes a drive-by comment.

Wait, so every silly post on b3d is thread worthy now because "you never know"? Sorry but a thread should at least have something substantial besides where it's posted. Otherwise it could fit into a general speculation thread and even then people would not believe it because lack of credibility.
Exactly. Since when is random user with no crediblity but historically it happened once before on this site with someone else and it was right a valid argument?

The onus of issue is credibility. Is the mentioned user known for his accuracy yes/no? If no, then this thread is literally no different than any random user here making a spec sheet and running with it.

Been following me around for over a month mouthing off when he don't even exist to me that's why I never reply to him but he continue talking to himself looking for attention.
Ehm, you made this thread. So who is looking for attention now?

Also, i made some valid points, why not address them instead of making blanket insults?

Every silly post on the internet is thread worthy, this is a discussion forum, you don't like a thread, simply move past it.
If that's the level of standard you want from a technical thread and all that is required is a random guy making up specs than you can write a dozen threads with the same outcome, or make a general thread where you can post all these random guys in one thread.

You don't even need to click it. Heck what's his face posted polls upon polls of random thoughts that popped into his head and of course they weren't necessarily thread worthy but still it is allowed.

How powerful is this in dragon ball terms?
2.5 Senzu Beans. Or Future Bulma post-pregnancy.

Are people asking for credibility in a rumor/leak thread?.....I mean, how does that work, does the leaker have to reveal his sources? Does everything he leaked before need to be true? It's rumor and leak season......People want to speculate, let them.....
No, but speculation from verified people or people known for their accurate leaks is a far better basis than random people making random speculations simply because the site that hosted it once had someone else making a prediction and it proved to be true.

He simply presents a B3D mod with some evidence or credentials while hiding his identity. Are we going to make a new thread here for everyone that invents specs and pretends to be an insider?
Exactly. If the level of standard is everyone then we can just make 1000 threads and discuss the same point over and over. We already have two users who do just that on a regular basis anyway and its tedious.

I guess they forgot that I'm the one who brought the PS4 & Wii U specs here

https://www.neogaf.com/threads/ps4-...d-7970-gpu-steamroller-cpu-16gb-flash.477540/
Almost missed that. Oh wait, that's what you regularly do when you need to prove your own credibility except nobody asked for that in the first place.

It comes across as arrogant. When you post dozens of threads and the majority is obviously wrong then yeah, eventually one small thing will be right. Does not mean you are a credible source whatsoever.

Care to address my questions in my original post

This is quite obviously fake, and not only that, not exaxtly balanced for a gaming system with a light OS.

Still, nice to dream.
The seperate DDR4 gives it away - Althought PS4 has DDR3 memory for other functions, why you need 4 GBs of DDR4 just for the OS? Seems it has a lot of overhead.

One thing you could reasonably speculate from given history is that the PS5 OS will be FreeBSD/NetBSD based. See, that's actually a plausible claim to make and discussion worthy since it has a historical background.

Maybe they want to be future proof, have new system level stuff to manage, and also want extra overhead because of background apps running simultaneously with the game being played? My Ipad sure suggests that OS improvements take a lot more memory than they did a few years ago. So 4 GB for the OS that will run the machine for 6-10 years beginning in 1-2 years, does not sound crazy to my uninformed self.

But whatever, I am purely guessing / speculating. But since we all like to do that, let's be nicer to people with any track record. These threads are fun.

I'd be legitimately surprised if AMD can cook up an APU with 12-15TF GPU performance (so current Radeon VII performance) and puts it in a $500 box, which is also supposed to come with 24GB GDDR6 ram and a 2TB drive and is supposed to be drawing only 150w (launch PS4 full load) from the wall.

Yeah, I don't see that happening.

OS overhead can be done much more effectively on console i reckon.

Yes lets be nicer to people with any track record, not just silly gooses with random speculation.

Why do you say that?
Why do you not believe his claim? You have no problems supporting another random claim either way...

Would be perfect for Sony to steal Microsoft's thunder before E3 with some sort of reveal.

Microsoft will surely have some mentions about Xbox 2 at E3 as well. And If Sony gives a Q2 and Microsoft go with Q4 2020 then it's a better start again for Sony.

Next few months will be interesting.

it's a better start again for Sony.
That is the problem MS is facing along with the continuation consoles now have as one side might draw users away from the other instead of expand the console playerbase.
I'm sure they've all brainstormed and came up with a launch window that's the best case scenario for them, but games speak louder than anything else...hell it sells itself.

You’re going to have a chicken and egg race this next gen. Neither will want to play the lower spec card this time, but at the same time, neither will want a machine that costs too much.

So it’s going to be interesting.

But these specs? Even thinking about obvious sdk machine specs that won’t make retail (that memory? Come on), well, you’re not looking at a cheap box.

This setup is essentially the same as a guy designing a new car that goes super fast, because it has a really fast engine but uses wooden tyres.. but 9 of them.

It’s not right. It doesn’t balance. The core count versus the clock speed of the cpu versus the memory split and amount and then the target speeds of the gpu...?

Look, there WILL be dev kits, and their specs will be far higher than retail units and yes, not balanced either. But creating a good setup isn’t a hard task, it’s a day to day thing for pc enthusiasts. You don’t make a 6 inch tall cup and try to fill it with 4 pints of water. This is just, well I’ll be honest, it’s reading like what a fanboy would write.

It’s that silly I don’t even feel the need to go into it too much, but just think of the most basic of basic issues, price. You’re telling me a GTX 2080, which is around 14 flops I believe (though don’t quote me here this is memory), costs around £500... Yet Sony, a company that put price premiums on what they sell, is going to sell you a 14tf gpu, with an 8 core £200-£300 cpu, a 2TB hdd (not much these days), and 20gb of gddr6 ram which is currently buggered in terms of getting wide release and has a 70% price hike over gddr5...

...on top of the console itself, the controler, packaging, cost to retail, leads, and a likely hefty price premium for having SONY in the front...?

All for the the same £500...?

Come on boys, wake up. This shits insane. They would have to be taking a MASSIVE hit per unit to get this done.

Lower your expectations. Who knows what the future will bring. I anticipate around 11-12flops with no more than 16gb ram.

Never heard of that member at B3D and without confirmation from mods I would not believe it. The specs are safe if not optimistic guesses based on known technology.
He simply presents a B3D mod with some evidence or credentials while hiding his identity. Are we going to make a new thread here for everyone that invents specs and pretends to be an insider?
A mod verification is like saying the Easter Bunny exist because Santa exist. Anyone, mod or not, can be wrong or right and still have no inside knowledge of anything . Guessing any part of a future console based on AMD tech is not hard at this point and time.

I say put away the “Mod Verified or Its BS” sign and just join the fun.

So your issue is around price?

1. 14TFLOPS AMD is not the same as 14TFLOPS NVIDIA.

2. Sony gets parts far cheaper than the general consumer.

If we look at the PS3 the Blu-ray player alone was over $1000 at a consumer level price. Cell would not have been cheap either and the GPU was crap but probably still at least $200.

Let’s say the entire PS3 cost $2,000.00 if a consumer paid for it yet Sony sold it for $600.

PS5 costing to meet the rumoured specs would be nowhere near as extreme as PS3 and far closer to the small loss they took on PS4.
