I'm in the market for a new laptop. I'm not particularly impressed with OSX these days, Finder just feels old and creaky compared to Windows 10 (except for how wonderful text looks).
I'm big on keyboard feel and build quality, so I tend to lean Macbook or Thinkpad for my laptop buys. For now, Macbooks are out, I want a Windows 10 machine.
Obviously you guys are gonna be biased towards the Surface in here but I'd like to hear from you all anyway. How's the keyboard situation? Do you guys play stuff like Civ with the touchscreen? Would I be able to play something like Baldur's Gate completely with my finger or the stylus?
Right now I'm leaning towards the Thinkpad Yoga. $850-1100 range, touchscreen, folds for tablet-esque use, I love their keyboards, and it has a DGPU at that price (840m available most places, 940m from Lenovo direct). The drawbacks are the screen being pure touch, so no proper stylus support, and I can't fully detach the screen part so tablet use will be slightly unweildy.
Should I be taking the surface seriously for work and games like Civ, Divinity OS, and old stuff off GOG? I saw a review of the Yoga where Metro: Last Light ran on low settings at 1080p, 30-50 FPS, for some context.
