Target Triple Trade-in Value from 5/18-5/24

So I went to Tanforan Target since I called earlier yesterday and they said they did the 3X trade in deal. When I went there, the electronics manager said they longer do trade ins for games which is complete bullshiet. So I went to the next closest Target and was able to trade in Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza for $45 a piece and then TitanFall for $55.5.

Yeah, he had to have lied to you. Electronics employees/Hardlines team leads don't have control over trade ins. I'm pretty sure even the store team lead couldn't reject it simply because the cell phone employees aren't Target employees. They're with a company called Market Source who uses another third party for their trade in values.

Le sigh, just spent nearly 45 minutes waiting for the Target Mobile guy to try to get the gift card to scan. He ended up calling technical support, got some guy in India who first thought he was a customer, then put him on hold for a long time then told him there was nothing wrong with the gift card. He finally checked the card on another machine and it had 4x the value it was supposed to. I had to go back to work so I finally had to bail. I asked him if the receipt I'd signed showing the values would let me get those trade-in values later on in the week. He said there was nothing he could do about that, it was just all in the system. I can't go back today, so I guess this was a pointless exercise for me.

Well, I just wasted 2 hour of my time for nothing. After waiting for the employee to get back and finally starting to do the transaction, the trade-in system apparently crashes and hasn't worked since so I still have my games and I'll be out of town tomorrow. Hell, the employee even was apologizing for the fact that they'll be worth less tomorrow most likely.

Finished reading my book and the system was still down. Hooray for the incompetence, Target. I'll be pissed if the value goes down even further tomorrow.

Aha, so it was down for everyone! Interesting. The thing is, it was apparently working but still throwing an error. So that's why when he checked my card it had a bunch of money on it. I wish he'd just given me that card :P

Oh shit if it works I'll just ask for it anyway

Just got back. Was able to trade n KZ SF, AC IV, and GTAV. System then crashed and never recovered. Drove to another Target and the associate spent 20 minutes trying to get my trades to work, turns out the system is down all over nationwide

Still wish I had known they got off early yesterday, but the GC games I traded in still had full value, and even though the two 3DS games I traded in dropped in value a bit I still had enough to buy Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8. Woo!

It kinda sounds like this promotion wasn't thought out well from the get-go.
People always find a way to "work the system" then bitch when they fix said system... It sucks but I'm sure people took more than full advantage yesterday fucking it up for the people trying today. I still got decent prices but it was older stuff.

System still down apparently. My guy managed to print out receipts with the prices and order numbers for all my games, but I don't know if that guarantees me the prices or not if I have to wait until tomorrow.

Not sure how this is working the system. People just exchanged their games for the prices they advertised...

FYI the guy who is doing my trade in is actively promoting that with Target you can use the trade in money to buy other stuff like groceries. It isn't just for electronics or if it is they aren't making that known.

It seems like they just forgot to lower the prices from their regular used value, which is probably about half of what Target would sell it for. I don't know why they would decide to give triple value without making those adjustments first.

Yeah. You get your money in a gift card. You can use it to buy virtually anything in target.

This sucks. I called my local store and their damn trade in system is down, which means I can't trade in. And the guy said he didn't know when it was coming back up. I just told him I'd call back in a couple of hours.

This wasn't "working the system". This was straight up not doing their homework before they put this promotion up.

So it's nationwide huh? First target = no-go, second one I called said they're working but got there and wasn't, third one I called said it was working, called again asked to talk to the guy who does it and not working.

What bullshit, I have almost $200 worth in trade ins and I was planning on buying fire emblem awakening and other games :/

Weird.
The guy told me the money could only be spent in electronics.

He also mentioned he's on something of a "points" system. Get 7 points and you're fired, he's currently at 6. Those points came from taking bad trade-ins + other stuff.

Are the mobile guys there later today?

I bet the one at mine will be gone before this crap comes up and then more drops tomorrow.

Check the mobile "store" hours through the trade-in website. They're different from the hours of the store itself.

Usually 11:00 - 8:00, 12:00 - 7:30, etc..

I did that yesterday and it said 8 when the guy himself said he leaves at 6. But I don't know if he just meant that for Sunday or what though.

I think It was just for Sunday, because I also asked yesterday and he told me 6. I wasn't able to make yesterday though.

Yeah cancel that on my trade the system is apparently down. If tomorrow the values go down again I'm gonna be pissed...

They're probably going to, so why even get mad? You've had two days to get in there and these are admittedly really high trade in prices.

This isn't exactly a Bill of Rights infringement.

Yeah, just wasted an hour at my target. He got to the last step, but couldn't authorize the gift card. Said he'll give me a call back when the system comes back online.

That plus the drop in values and this whole thing has been pretty fucking annoying.

Traded in 4 games, thanks guys.
Killzone PS4 $43 (Paid $30 from same Target during BOGO30% 5 months ago.)
Infamous PS4 $55 (Paid $60)
Black Ops II 360 $20 (This has just been lying around, didnt expect anything really.)
Tearaway $27

I impulse bought the PS4 Gold Wireless headphones I'm not sure if I should keep or buy a generic $25 turtle beach and return these.

I was also amused Killzone is $40 now, so I could have rebought it new for what I got for my used copy. I don't get these deals but I love them.

Edit : Oh, interesting page... When I traded yesterday it was my console games. While doing so - with no problems - I read on Neogaf Tearaway was $27 then went back to trade that in roughly 15 minutes later. The system wouldn't activate my giftcard and he had to call corporate who made him start a new transaction and then it worked. I don't know if its related but as someone who missed the WalMart website glitch of $8 monitors and such the message is clear : These awesome deals come so rarely and are gone so fast you really need to pay attention and have luck on your side.

NJ Blue Laws + Work + System Down makes it real hard for people to actually take advantage of their trade.

Th associate was on the phone with nextworth and I could hear them say that there were about 1000 people trading in games all at once so the system will probably be down for a while. It's like healthcare.gov all over again lol

Are you not reading? The system is down so we cannot do it today. Some people aren't able to make it to these stores on the first day. So yea people have the right to be pissed right now.

System down for me as well. Rang up $90 for my 3 games. The lady gave me the print out and said "I'll find a way to make sure you get the value listed" after I told her about the drops yesterday. We'll see, lol.
