Yeef said:I think that's just plain untrue (in the case of TF2). A server with a standard setup only autobalances when team numbers are uneven. Balancing a game that's 12 vs 8 (extreme example) so that it's 10 vs 10 most certainly makes things fairer.

speculawyer said:True. But he is throwing away a $20 game he already owns because he let himself pay $2.50 for virtual junk.
Javaman said:That reminds me why I dislike L4D so much. Not that shuffling players would be an ideal situation, but they could have coded in some type of small handicap or bonus to help even the teams slightly. It blows being stuck in a 2+ hour game where you know you're going to lose from pretty much the beginning, moreso because your teammates are probably going to start quitting.
I think the Crate is the most common drop item in the game now, and I am sure people are going to get fed up buying keys soon, so I expect something to change with its dynamic soon.

Except losing in L4D is literally the worst feeling I've ever experienced in games. It makes me feel like such shit, and because I don't want to be a dick, I don't ragequit.Boonoo said:But in L4D if you're getting rolled as a SI you spend 5 minutes as a survivor then 10 or 15 as special, which is generally pretty fun. And if you're getting really rolled the games last maybe half an hour.

:lol there have been some stacked games that made me feel that way exactly. Like those exact emotions. Creepy.Twig said:Except losing in L4D is literally the worst feeling I've ever experienced in games. It makes me feel like such shit, and because I don't want to be a dick, I don't ragequit.

Nope. I unlocked Demoman Milestone 2, unlocked another sword thing, and it's completely locked out from being traded or crafted.Blizzard said:You can, as far as I know.
It's especially frustrating because I love the game, but I'm just not good at it. I'm sure I COULD be good with practice, but getting there is such a painful experience.Stallion Free said::lol there have been some stacked games that made me feel that way exactly. Like those exact emotions. Creepy.

Holy Shit, I'm laughing but I feel so bad :lolleroidys said:1) Played TF2 for almost three years
2) Got a crate
3) Found out the only way to get a key is buying it
4) put $5 in my wallet to buy a 2.49 item![]()

5) used the key

Yeah, I think pretty much everyone is agreed that the stupid crate/keys are stupid.Hylian7 said:Okay, at first I was put off by the idea of paid exclusive items, but then I found out that there were only four things (Secret Saxton, Pile o' Gifts, Mann Co. Cap, and Mann Co Supply Crate Key) that were paid exclusive, and the rest were attainable by random drop and trading. I don't plan on buying anything myself, as I'm rather patient, and would rather just make trades for what I want. However, I'm a bit iffy on the crate and key system. This item just teases you and you have to pay $2.50 to find out what it is. I looked at what some of the possibilities and some of them are cool (such as the Dueling thing, Name tag, and Exceedingly Rare Items), but some of them are just regular stuff, which might seem like a waste of $2.50.
I think they should make the keys tradeable, I guarantee you people would want to use those as bartering chips to get whichever rare hat they want.

One day there will be some kind of magical weapon that only comes in a crate, and then my crates will be worth their weight in gold!
Yeah, but people aren't THAT desperate for themKulock said:There are already special hats and gear that have unique particle effects that are only found in the crates. Also, the white (Abundance of Tinge) and black (Lack of Hue) paint can only be found in crates.
It's preset what items are available in the crates. So, even if what you propose comes true, the crates you have will never drop that magical weapon.Wii said:I'm hoarding crates, got 4 so far

I've got a crate if someone wants to trade for it (along with something else like some vintage stuff).Boonoo said:Crates are a great way to sweeten a trade. I'd save them for that if you don't want to unbox them.
What I wonder is if crates count towards your item drop limit. I hope not as that could make making hats take longer.
speculawyer said:I've got a crate if someone wants to trade for it (along with something else like some vintage stuff).
I opened a first crate and got white paint. OK, enough with $2.50 for mystery item.
I guess I thought that any item you get from a crate can't be traded, and possibly can't be crafted? Also, any item you buy from the store including the rocket jumper can't be traded either, right? It's going to take me forever to get that weapon without paying $0.49. :lolBoonoo said:You can usually get a hat for white paint. So that's not too bad a drop.

Well that's better than nothing!Boonoo said:Crate items are craftable and tradable.
(._.) said:White/Black paint is rare but not really worth a hat. I have opened four crates and three of theme were crate only paints, other one was a wrangler. The pyro hats in them aren't crazy rare to get . They are still more rare than your preupdate hat though.
