I don't know why drop rates came up to be honest.jediyoshi said:Just skimming here, did they put something in an update to force people to have to get items? Why's there so much crying over drop rates all of a sudden?
I did the same thing for 2 (two!) crates. Figured, I've gotten more fun out of TF2 than perhaps any other game I've ever played, and it came BUNDLED with HL2/Ep1/Ep2/Portal, so... What's five bucks after years of fun?Instro said:Got a crate today, bit the bullet and opened it. Name tag, not bad. One of the admins of f7 bought a pile of presents for the server, which was pretty cool.
Instro said:Yeah theres definitely some issues they need to address, hopefully sooner than later. Those hats that have stats on them, and the crates dropping normal items are probably the biggest two for me. Also making keys a random drop would be good.

They better not do this. Yesterday my bro spent $20 on keys and other useless shit. All he got was paint and some junk weapons. This game used to be about free free free now it's spend spend spend. I understand valve wants to make money, but dont' make whit game breaking. Why do I need to spend $15 to get pyro speed boost? Why is it that good guys can't keep the fight going for too long before greed becomes inevitable? I guess capitalism wins again.Javaman said:The next step in the money making process is to lower the number of weapons found and increase the number of crates.
Drkirby said:Scout set has no real draw back IMO, you just have to learn to use some new weapons.
It certainly doesn't make the scout over-powered though, it simply changes it to allow more focus on melee/agressive plays as you have more health to play with and a weapon that slows enemies down a bit allowing you to fish them to death. And unless you like the primary weapon (I hate it), the 25 health buff is doesn't matter enough to purchase the set.Drkirby said:Scout set has no real draw back IMO, you just have to learn to use some new weapons.
It's like getting a jar of pee for a gift in real life.Nabs said:I've gotten two random gifts. It's a nice surprise. Opening the gift and finding Jarate is not so nice.
Wow, so they stopped playing a good multiplayer FPS because they weren't getting enough drops? Is that the reason why they were playing in the first place or something? smhderFeef said:Yeah but that does not work. If I play 2 hours a day I am not having the same chances as the guy who plays 12 hours a day. Casuals are always behind and thats why some of my friends stopped playing, they felt like they miss out for not playing as much.
Valve does some amazing trolls.dave is ok said:It's like getting a jar of pee for a gift in real life.
I told them that it does not matter, but I can understand their view. If you see guys with new toys and you never seem to get them (they play for fun, so achievements unlock rarely for them), you get frustrated. If you log in months later and you see everyone with goddamn hats and even more toys, you get more angry. They also do not want to buy the items, which is understandable.(._.) said:Wow, so they stopped playing a good multiplayer FPS because they weren't getting enough drops? Actually the reason Achivements most likely don't unlock to often is that they stick to one or two classes. While some you have to go out of your way to get, most just require you to play as the class and you will stuble onto them.derFeef said:I told them that it does not matter, but I can understand their view. Yeah, I am not quite sure why we argue about fundamental things. They feel like they miss out for not dedicating their whole game-time to one single game and I can understand that. The droprate theory is nice and all, but it just does not work for players who do play very rarely.Drkirby said:Actually the reason Achivements most likely don't unlock to often is that they stick to one or two classes. Stallion Free said:God why do people keep crying over the set bonuses. Look at the actual set and you will see there are just as many drawbacks.
Example: Sniper set
-Bonus: Can't be headshotted
-Sniper Rifle: Removes the ability to get headshots on people
-Shield: 25 health bonus, nowhere near as useful as the backstab shield

It would be interesting to see the charts, but I'd say 60+% of my deaths as sniper come from backstabs.Kulock said:I'm not crying ("QQ!!") But you're saying an equip that gives a sniper 25 more health against every class is less useful than an equip that's a mild deterrent to just one class?
People also fail to note that the Sydney Sleeper rifle can randomly crit like a normal weapon. You can't rely on that, but that's not a bad deal for a bodyshot Sniper.
watAlso, oddly the SMG give 20%+ of all damage done in TF2
Drkirby said:The +25 health item is pretty good, but its one of the items you could craft or find your self, so it won't be to rare. Plus, using it means you have to give up your SMG or Jarate to have it. Also, oddly the SMG give 20%+ of all damage done in TF2, and is only behind the Grenade Launcher in terms of how much damage is done by it. Though the stats could just be off:

On a tangent, I hope more Snipers start using the Bushwacka, would make it easier to take them out for me :lol
The Rocket Launcher isn't a weapon, its a tool to get to higher places.Boonoo said:Those stats would almost certainly have to be off. There's not even a Rocket Launcher listed in the weapons section.

In fact, it seems the GAF server is full a lot more frequently through out the day now instead of just in the wee hours of the night. So this patch has made things even better.

But Crooked Rain and Crushed on the server AT THE SAME TIME. (This is from the olden TF2 days, when it first launched.)
