I didn't say it was smart, I just see a lot of people using the sword who have no shield equipped. Mostly when I'm playing on shit servers, oddly enough.Twig said:That's a retarded thing to do. You lose the health, and don't get the extra defense against fire and explosives, and it makes it harder to catch up to people if they start running away before you cut off their heads.
No one said the common TF2 player was intelligent...Twig said:That's a retarded thing to do. You lose the health, and don't get the extra defense against fire and explosives, and it makes it harder to catch up to people if they start running away before you cut off their heads.

Also I'm not sure how a piece of thick alligator leather giving you a slight defensive boost in nonsensical.
For when someone gets up behind him and he has to frantically engage in some combat? It happens all the time, no Sniper nest is safe. And that health boost can buy you the split second you need to react.Confidence Man said:It's nonsensical because he's the sniper. Picking people off from a distance. Furthest from the action. What does he need a defensive boost for?
Those are both terrible ideas.Confidence Man said:It's nonsensical because he's the sniper. Picking people off from a distance. Furthest from the action. What does he need a defensive boost for?
Of course it fits with the character, but therein lies the problem as far as I'm concerned. When you're treating classes as characters, the tactical balance is compromised in favor of zany hijinks.
They should just make a separate TFToons game, where you have the Scotsman, the Australian, the Cowboy, the G.I., the Russian, etc...
Or just make TF3 SRSBSNS.
I haven't played since probably shortly after the the soldier/demoman update. I played on another server last night before I knew about the GAF server and unlocked the Alien Swarm hat and that badge you get for whenever you started playing TF2. Some random dude was like, "Wow, welcome back Crooked Rain."Davidion said:Boonoo, multicore didn't help! Not really sure what's going on but I'll go futz with it again.
Wait aren't you always there? :lol
Wait, wtf is your name?
I dunno not-serious TF2 seems to be working out pretty well for them and the subclass/multiple-ways-to-play-your-class stuff has brought a lot of people who were getting bored back into the fold recently so I wouldn't hold my breath.Confidence Man said:It's nonsensical because he's the sniper. Yeah, I've never had a problem with any of the new weapons or equipment that they've introduced. I just don't like some of the hat designs.Hugbot said:I dunno not-serious TF2 seems to be working out pretty well for them and the subclass/multiple-ways-to-play-your-class stuff has brought a lot of people who were getting bored back into the fold recently so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Every time something new is introduced it "ruins the game," but after the killjoys have cried wolf so many times it's hard to ever take that side seriously.
Nobody is level anything, it's just that items have arbitrary "level __ (item type)" thrown on them. They don't mean anything.lethial said:I just picked up TF2 on the weekend for 10 bucks. I never knew about crafting or items, is it really necessary? I've found a few doodads but I just want to run around and fucking kill people. I also see people that are like level 10+. Does leveling do anything?
I agree that some of the hats are iffy, but they've never distracted me while playing the game. For the most part they fit the characters well and look decent.The_Technomancer said:Yeah, I've never had a problem with any of the new weapons or equipment that they've introduced. You probably saw level items, players don't have levels. But no, they don't do anything. Very few of the items are straight upgrades and none are required to be effective! So you can hop right in and blow shit up or whatever from day one, and if you see an item you like then just try it out.lethial said:I just picked up TF2 on the weekend for 10 bucks. So *gasp* don't use the shield. nobody's forcing you to, and the people that find it useful will continue to find it useful, despite your insistence that it's completely ruined the game for everyone involved.Confidence Man said:It's nonsensical because he's the sniper. Oh yeah, most of the hats I love. Stuff like the Scout's Whoopee cap, or the Engineer's Ten Gallon are great. I'm just not a fan of like...the new Dr. Seuss hat for the Soldier, or the ridiculous wig for the Spy.Hugbot said:I agree that some of the hats are iffy, but they've never distracted me while playing the game. Fuck you, the Dapper is amazing and you're a horrible person.The_Technomancer said:Oh yeah, most of the hats I love. Stuff like the Scout's Whoopee cap, or the Engineer's Ten Gallon are great. I'm just not a fan of like...the new Dr. Seuss hat for the Soldier, or the ridiculous wig for the Spy.
Hey, I love the idea, and I love the homage, I just don't like it visually in contrast with the soldier.Twig said:Fuck you, the Dapper is amazing and you're a horrible person.
trade u the fish bat for the sniper shieldNabs said:If anyone wants a vita-saw or the new sniper shield, i'll be willing to trade it for either the new scout weaps, or the new spy gun.
i'm down for that. whats your current username in tf2? if you're gonna play some tf2 tonight, we can probably trade in the gaf server. i'm [2pro]NabsAnony said:trade u the fish bat for the sniper shield

i miss when you could shoot arrows in midair : (Twig said:Aim!
It travels faster than rockets, but arcs a bit more like the demo pipes (but not as much).
Just learn to compensate and predict enemy movements.
Alternatively, go the lucksman route and just spam arrows through doors.
I use it when I equip the Huntsman (to augment my defensive firepower, more useful than Jarate for that purpose).Twig said:wat
no way
nobody uses that thing

I find pipes are a better comparison because, even though they're slower, they arc, while rockets always fly in a straight line.John said:The huntsman, like the rocket launchers, is just about predicting where people will be a split-second after you let go, or knowing where people are likely to be. It's by far my best k/d weapon, I tend to use it on offense
Not from long distance, they won't...Wolf Akela said:Just like RLs, you can't expect direct hits all the time.
But unlike RLs, being slightly off-target will still severely damage the enemy. An arrow that missed won't do anything. Decent Soldiers will honestly wreck Huntsman Snipers.
yeah probably, ALWAYS aim slightly upwards with the huntsman, since everybody's head is at the same height relative to your aimTwig said:I find pipes are a better comparison because, even though they're slower, they arc, while rockets always fly in a straight line.

also when will they let us create "setups" for classes? i.e. let us make custom loadouts saved as presets so we don't have to go clicking through the menus when we just want to switch from defensive demo to sword demo etc

I gotta say, I totally agree. Once I unlocked this and the Huntsman I totally fell in love with this class. Nothing quite like hurling a jar of pee at someone then pegging them to the wall with an arrow to the face.John said:don't, jarate is the single best item in the game
