Team Fortress 2 Sniper Update Info, Pyro Megaton

Dead Ringer just got a whole lot better. Also, do other players hear that sound when you uncloak?

Yeah, it's audible. I was wondering what the sound was half a second before I got stabbed.

Such a cool weapon though... I haven't got one yet myself, but my first experience with it was turning around on 2fort's middle bridge to see an undisguised spy chasing me. I blew him up with one grenade, and didn't even consider that he might be using the Dead Ringer. Needless to say, 8 seconds later I got destroyed by him and he got that achievement that goes along with it. :lol

Why the heck isn't there an achievement for the enemy medic ubering you as a spy? It happened a few games ago, and I was totally bummed out because I didn't get a 90x90 pixel icon to go along with the memories.

I'd really like other achievements for other classes to get added when they add game changing features... I put out 5 team mates who were on fire with an airblast earlier which basically stopped a last minute cap attempt on dustbowl stage 1 winning us the round.

Also the bullshit medic achievements which are so situational and so often unrelated to playing a good medic could certainly be expanded with things like ubersaw an invisible spy or keep someone alive after theyre soaked in piss or whatever.

The only thing I generally dislike about the updates is how everyone has to play as the class regardless of team balance. The free weekend kind of compounds it. Five snipers, three spies, one engineer, one medic and a soldier on defence for a payload map just isn't fun. Well it's fun to play against, especially as a pyro, but it's kind of frustrating when it's your team.

Are you new? This always happens when they update the game. Honestly I'm surprised we aren't seeing more 100% spy/sniper teams.

Yeah, the 'controversial' new drops system did nothing to help that.

I've been telling people who ask about how to get the new weapons they either have to go sniper and not leave their base on pl maps (on offense), or play spy and keep trying to backstab people and failing and ignore unattended sentry farms.

Because that's how most people are getting unlocks at the moment, amirite?

With previous updates it was just one class, having two classes seems to have upped how unbalanced the teams can get. I know it will settle and return to normal but it's just been a bit more frustrating.

It's funny because I see a lot of people complaining about this yet I didn't experience it myself at all with this update.

There was a lot of Snipers maybe, but in defense it's always cool. I didn't have to deal with a team of Spies and no Engies for example.

Tonight was probably the first couple of matches I've played where the team was seriously imbalanced with the classes. One or two snipers is fine, but like five? And three of them aren't of any particular use? That's not so cool. Switch over to engi, be of some use, build a teleporter or a dispenser, a sentry even. I probably shouldn't complain too loudly, going by the scores most were probably free weekend users.

It's fun playing as a pyro though, I love that I can now put out team mates who are on fire with the air blast. Saved a few medics that way tonight. And I love burning all of the obvious spies and bum rushing oblivous snipers. I got half a mill in fire damage now. Halfway to getting the Pyromancer achievement.

After playing 5-6 hours and getting only Bonk, I think I'm going to start idling...
I'd like to try some of the new things, particularly the Huntsman, and the watches.

Yeah, those updates (along with the airblast one) really made a completely different class out of the Pyro.

The problem is still Medics who didn't register that you can extinguish them, and run around on fire like "MEDIC MEDIC MEDIIIICC" and you waste half your ammo trying to blast them because they just won't stop running away from you.

The amount of people who don't read patch notes is terrifying D:

Seeing the success stories of people idling makes me sad that I can never find an open space in achievement servers. I don't care what the apologists say, the new system is broken and sucks.

Certain gaffers may bitch about the whiners, but I haven't seen an actual person playing the game who's said they liked the system. That's all the proof I need to say Valve is searching for solutions to a non-existent problem. Don't lock stuff. Costumes, fine. Items, no.

I like the system but agree it could do with some tweaks. I have only been playing TF2 for a little over a day, so maybe I am still caught up in "Medic Joy" to notice the ramblings of TF2 Veterans. :lol

I am not surprised to see you bitching, period.

Jus' sayin'.

When a well known member of one server is sitting at 13 sandwiches, that alone is gonna generate talk about WTF is going on. It's broken. It's fine that it's working for the lucky few, but most people aren't getting anything. In over 9 hours I've gotten 2 natashas and an uber saw. I don't even think some people have been that "lucky."

The whole idea that people sitting in spectate mode on farming servers are getting decent unlocks while people actually playing can't get a single new one says all that needs to be said. If you're gonna make this be the system, there should be some rationale to it. Actions should play a role. Spectate should get you nothing, not be the preferred way.

I've been playing tf2 for a long time and I don't like that I'm getting unlockable items randomly. I have fun doing achievements in actual battle. Just getting the weapon from a random event cheapens the whole deal for me. I one night I got the force a nature, energy drink and piss bottle. All of which I hadn't gotten yet.

Even though I was always on the receiving end of it, I'm really liking the bow. Seeing snipers running around with it just brings a smile to my face for some reason. I love this game.

Well you know what?

No one's forcing you to read all these complaints. No one's forcing you to listen to these complaints. Hell, no one's forcing you to play TF2, yet every time an update comes out, there you are again, bitching and moaning because things aren't exactly how you want.

Shut up and fucking play the game you want to play.

Why are you complaining? No one's forcing you to read this thread.
Why complain about anything ever?

Maybe I should just post hundreds of non-nonsensical posts that make zero sense and include lots of :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol . That makes for great thread reading too. I don't bitch in game. I don't post on Valve forums. I don't e-mail Valve with complaints. But I think venting on a, I don't know, a gaming forum makes sense. I'd rather read a vent post than a self-righteous post or a nonsensical post (luckily you're usually in one or the other, so you're covered on both.)

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

If you did so, it would be less nonsensical than complaining every chance you get!

Its right up there with Battleground Honor Farming in WoW. :lol
Hah! I remember that. Thank god I had the smarts to quit the game at that point and come back later when it was more fun.

Yeah, there's something very funny about the achievement system. After playing about 6 hours legitimately yesterday with no unlocks, I'm sitting on an achievement_idle server right now and have gotten a Sandvich (already had) and a Kritzkreig.

Good times!

I keep playing but not getting hardly a thing now, is tonight the last night for the free people to play? Matches are still uneven which makes things even worse, it was fun for a good while but now I get a bit annoyed when my team are all snipers or don't know the location of capture points so the other team gets an easy rush win. I don't mind new players but these free weekends bring such a rush all at once.

I am a little surprised that Valve didn't implement some form of anti-AFK'ing to prevent item farming as such.

I'm sure it'll come in the future. It's not like achievement farming, where you're actually actively doing something.

Shrug.

People that go on servers just to idle kinda make zero sense to me.

I think it's more to do with Valve wanting to keep the vocal impatient gamers somewhat happy.

To the regular players it doesn't seem worth the effort since we'll get all the weapons sooner rather than later because we play the game constantly every week. I haven't seen a single regular poster in the TF2 thread have massive negative opinions over this unlock system.

If you're new to the game, then it makes sense that you aren't complaining. Every new unlock brings a new toy and you don't have to deal with redundancies nearly as much. Others who have logged hundreds of hours would like to try the new content.

I absolutely love the bow whoosh sound when the arrow flys past your head. For me it kick starts a "HOLY SHIT that was a close one" moment.

Almost every spawn room are locked to the other team.

What's the recharge rate on the dead ringer? Can you use it again right away after you decloak?

well i know it's pissed off a few people who mainly play as spy and haven't managed to snag a single spy unlock.

edit: meanwhile i've got multiples of every single spy unlock.

You can't use it again until it's full recharged. U can decloak whenever u like though.

Tbh I think the downsides of it are too strong atm. I'd make the charge decrease at like 125-150% and recharge still 180%. And it really should make u immune to fire for it's duration.

Idle'd last night. Got a couple old items, but also the Razorback! I was looking for that. I don't have any spy items besides the dead ringer yet.

I don't know if I am helping or not.

Logged in a couple more hours of TFMMO. I have gotten so far dups of the ubersaw and sandvich. Going on 15+ hours now.

23 more sanviches to go.

Harazo, you evil man.

Speaking as someone who actively enjoys TF2, but doesn't play it as much as a lot of other people, I'm rather enjoying all of this. I hadn't even managed to get a single Scout achievement and now I have a Scout unlock! It's kind of nice. Sure, it's only my first drop, but now that I know that I will eventually be getting these things, it doesn't seem so brutal.

They idle as specs , so you really can't even do that.

You'd just be giving snipers an acheivement if they bothered to play at best
