Huh? No, still sounds boring.Spire said:Sounds boring until you see the other page, and read about the shield and increased damage.
The_Technomancer said:Hm, I have to trust in Valve's playtesting, because one of the advantages to the sentry for me was how much more accurate it was then my poor skills. But that shield is going to be mighty handy.
Diablohead said:New map too btw, which leaves only one more spot for an update on that main page... so what is day 4?
Twig said:Huh? No, still sounds boring.
Manually controlling the sentry and being completely immobile while doing so is the complete opposite of what I want out of the engineer update. More reasons to turtle! Hurray! NOT.
I was hoping for more offensive/mobile items.

yah an engie that can't repair and replenish his own sentry while it's being shot at and if he dies makes it totally defenseless for three seconds, what a pro-turtle stratTwig said:Huh? No, still sounds boring.

Plant sentry.
Aim at medic.
Spire said:They usually release more than one map at a time.
So day four is probably new hats, moustaches, and more maps.
...how else would it workbounchfx said:you sound boring
where does it say you're immobile while doing so? I haven't seen that anywhere.
lol watSpire said:So basically you want stuff that'll make the engineer just like the other 8 classes.
yah cause engies always defend by themselves without absolutely any help whatsoever and this is not a team based gameEmCeeGramr said:yah an engie that can't repair and replenish his own sentry while it's being shot at and if he dies makes it totally defenseless for three seconds, what a pro-turtle strat
fuck that shitTechnosteve said:In a land mark deal between Disney and Valve. Valve has been given exclusive rights to reproduce Pixar characters in hat form.

cause spy plays exactly the same as heavy am i rite gawd i am so rite

Engie holds the radar like a pistol, you "shoot" the area you want your sentry to aim at, and I guess run around at the same time.Twig said:...how else would it work
This sounds like a lot of fun.Charron said:I think the Wrangler's gonna prove useful with Engie pairs on defense. One Engie guides it, the other replenishes/repairs it. That fortified level 3 will be the offense's focus, so they won't notice the level 1 or 2 that's hidden in a sneaky place, picking them off. And if they do wreck that sentry, well... time for a little Frontier Justice.
Spire said:Without the sentries limited targeting range, you can terrorize people at a distance. :lol
Wrangler doesn't sound too great against uber rushes though, since if you hop out of it to repair it's totally vulnerable for three seconds.
have you ever played offensive engy because from the way you speak it sounds like you have literally no experience doing soSpire said:As in another class that can aggressively push forward. Because the game doesn't have any of those.
actually that's true, i didn't think of thatDiablohead said:Engie holds the radar like a pistol, you "shoot" the area you want your sentry to aim at, and I guess run around at the same time.
That would actually be the best implementation, IMObounchfx said:well without seeing it in action, I figured you would just hold the remote, and run around and point like any other fun, and it would just fire where you look.
however, maybe it IS like a 'turret mode' a la halo or any other shooter game out there where your camera is bound to the top of the turret. donno. either way sounds fun to me, but the first one sounded more logical.. it's a remote after all. I can move with a remote in my hands.
I'm fine either way.
Diablohead said:What we need is 5 hats together, beat that 3 hats hat!
They can be distracted and have limited range.Confidence Man said:How unbelievably stupid. Of all the things that would actually be useful for an engineer, they chose this? SGs aim perfectly well by themselves, so the only reason to use this is to make it take more damage, not something I think the game needs at all.
.
well the sentry never had a range limit, just a targeting range. If the shots missed the target they would continue on.bounchfx said:So are you guys just assuming theres no range limit now? or where did they specify this?
We still don't know how it works completely.. it could be that it shoots exactly where you point, 1:1, or it could shoot AT who you're pointing towards... in which case, someone could still be too far away for the sentry.
jaundicejuice said:What I wonder is, what's the range of the remote control, does your viewpoint change to that of the sentry or do you have to be within viewing distance to effectively use the sentry.
Either way, wrangler engie's are going to get sniped or shot in the head with the ambassador or scattergun.
That thing sounds like hell to take out with an uber demo. Especially if another engie is repairing it while you attack it. Or a scotish resistance demo defending the gun with a pile of stickies placed around the gun just for that purpose.
Wow.
PataHikari said:For instance, if a Bonk Scout runs past you, your gun now is firing uselessly at him while the Heavy comes over and destroys everything.
