The Andromeda Artists Rez HD XBLA Official Thread

PDO HD with achievements and leaderboards would be fuck awesome. But even if they just stuck it up on Xbox Originals it'd be better than nothing.

Here here. Is PDO even backwards compatible?

Still not home yet, but reading this thread just reminded me that I saw that you can download replays as well - what a great idea...

Not to mention that it even comes with the original, plus all of those other modes as well... that is one hell of a deal for 800 points...

So has anybdoy done trance vibration mode yet?

I stuck the controller behind my back, as I was told to in some thing I read somewhere.

It's got nothing on the trance vibrator. I won't really bother in future, the rumble isn't strong enough to be worth the effort.

You know I had my mind all set on getting Poker Smash with my last 800 points but I'll be damned if I wasnt quite impressed with the demo. This game really does look good in HD. I was affraid the game was going to be a complete cake walk......then I died at the first boss.
I think this may have been the first time dieing in a game was actually a good thing.

I enjoyed the music, does it get better throughout the game while still keeping the style.

Yeah, it's not bad but not amazing - Putting it under your feet works pretty well. It's not really going to be that great until someone comes out with an attachment or mods though simply because it's hard to use the kit so that it's both comfortable and has strong vibration.

This is just fucking awesome. Bought it and immediately had to do a complete playthrough. Everything's so smooth and crisp, visually and aurally. Perfect, except for lack of Trance Vibrator support.

The only thing they could have improved was play the music through all speakers in 5.1 rather than just stereo from the two front speakers, even if the others speakers played in stereo but would still have been more immersive.

If I have to complain about anything, it is the treatment of the music in the multi-boss part of stage 5. In the original version, after beating each part, the next part would start after a complete portion of music had finished, but now it seems like it can start halfway through, which kind of sucks.

Also, the credits sequence is different and the music cuts off unfortunately. Hope they patch that because it's a beautiful comedown song, especially after direct assault.

But the sound filters, and graphics filters are absolutely stunning, and jaggy free Rez is seriously a perfect experience. Finally, a future-proof version of the game.

I wish the achievements were just a tad more hardcore, but giving out an easy 200 may make the achievement whores more likely to pick it up, so it's good to get the game out there, I guess. The leaderboards for Lost Area should be interesting over the next few weeks :)

Also, in the credits...
there seems to be a hint of more to come!

Isn't that just the fact that you can get the proper ending by 100% destroyed and finishing the final boss with form 5?

wow the part just before the 4rd boss with the bouncing grey blocks is so so pretty.

Then I get to the boss and get fricking lazerbeamed to death.

This game is so soo good, Eurogamer review is spot on.

Guys any explanation on how the life, upgrade and overdrive systems all work? still a little hazy. Love the little globe Rez tho

I don't think so. It says
This is just the beginning
or something like that. Not the usual thing at the end, but before that.

gah died just as I was about to finish off the four boss, wow the animations and sequences just get better and better.

Im surprised how well the have mixed the artificial world this is in with the organic flow and style of the animations.

Agreed on all counts; I was in the process of explaining to a friend as I was completing the final section how much of a great feeling it was to have that amazing ending sequence and the beautiful come down music that goes with it, and how that - in its much more intangible yet magical form - was just as gratifying if not more so than any external Achievement... only for the music to be cut short. My only (very very minor) issue with an otherwise brilliant update.

Thank you Mizuguchi and thanks to all of the old UGA team for their original vision and creation; and thanks to the Hexadrive team and all those involved in making this new version a reality too. Thumbs up.

To be perfectly honest, I don't understand how to play this game. Even after watching the tutorial. Are the squares in the lower left hand of the screen your health? Because they seem to vanish without me even getting hit. I died on the first boss and I swear I don't recall getting hit a single time.

Think of that bar as an XP bar. It fills, you level and then it empties ready to fill again. If you get hit, you lose an entire form, not any bits of the bar.

I just played Level 5 for the first time in my life.

Oh my fucking God.

You know, when games aren't trying to be shitty Hollywood wannabies they're in a league of their own when it comes to being an art form.

Beat the level but didn't get the achievement. I feel cheated somewhat; do I need to beat it in a certain form to "clear" it?

I see. I'll go back and see if I can figure out how to kill the boss.

i had to buy it too :D Only played up to level 3 so far. But i dont "like" the music in level2...but damn fuck that the final boss of level 2 is so awesome fun :)

I just sent everyone in my fl a message to buy this game otherwise they're off the list. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

You have to get 100% synchronization on all levels.

And how is that achieved? I'm guess that's why it's saying I never finished level 5?

How do you get vibrations working in this game?

I added a second controller, and it's not vibrating.

It's in the options, under vibration you turn on trance vibration.

Seriously.

I mean... Seriously.

I wasn't feeling the game too much. Seemed way too easy (I understand it's about perfection, but still). I liked the 4th boss but the others were kinda meh. Also wasn't digging the art style.

And then I played area5. Holy shit, that might as well be the entire game by itself. It's utter fucking perfection. I can't think of anything in a videogame better than that. I died to the 5th form of the boss, not really sure how, but hot damn was it fucking fun.

Throughout each level there's little pidgeon dudes carrying boxes, shoot the pidgeon and box springs loose, have to kill box and you go all whirly and go up a level. 10 times per level. Most are pretty easy to get, but theres one or two in area4 that come in when the screen's crowded.

Err wait. You need 100% synch to unlock level 5. He wasn't talking to youzzz.

It was amazing. And it pains me to know I've had a copy of Rez on Dreamcast and PS2, never been able to beat the forth boss (until today, no idea why) and so never played it. Though I guess seeing it in HD for the first time is some consolation :)

Yeah, I've unlocked level 5, it's just after seeing the credits I didn't get the achievement, so I assume I did something wrong.

So, is the "journey" or "travel" or whatever mode still in the game?

Is there anything missing from the original or PS2 versions?

I'm deciding whether or not to put my PS2 copy in mothballs. (Can't see getting rid of it, but I can stick it away in storage if I have no reason to pull it out anymore.)
