The Boys - Final Season Teaser Trailer

Yeah that was my point, it's so painfully obvious that it's the setup for the episode. With some sort of variation on what I said of course as TBH I think it's also possible Maria just disappears for the finale and it's still possible Butcher also has to be put down. Kimiko probably won't survive the fight either.
She might because I don't think people care too much about Gen V characters. The Boys should have had either better writer or just continue Season 1 approach with comics storyline deviation but still maintain some of its spirit, before going straight into the modern political issues.

The fact that this season is sitting at 97% from critics might be the single biggest confirmation yet that if you fill a piece of entertainment to bursting with political agenda they will love you for it as long as it's political agenda they agree with, a 97% is absurd when you consider that even outside of the agenda pushing the show is objectively bad, with terrible pacing, inconsistent character motivations, world building, and character capabilities, not to mention it being another season of like 50% wheel spinning. For reference on how absurd it having a 97% with critics is, Breaking Bad is sitting at a lower score of 96%.

Eh, it just shows that one of the largest companies in the world can buy whatever reviews it wants, or at least curry favor for better access down the road.

I'm liking the season tbh. I feel like at least here I am in the minority. I've got some issues with it, but overall I think the writers did an okay job with what they've set up so far. And I haven't felt any issues with the pacing at all, and that's often an issue I have with modern tv shows.

Because the Samuel L. Jackson Shark thinks Deep caused that pipeline leak and told him that if he ever sets foot into any kind of water again the sealife will kill him.
And the fish that was covered in oil. For what the Deep actually did, they've got no reason to blame him at all.

The leaks are out there and after the death of the president being part of said leak I'm not sure what to expect next week lol
That was so dumb. There was no aftermath to killing him, no public reaction, no reason or plan for Ashley becoming president, nothing happened.

Pretty much, there's no real tension. Shit is just happening and there's no lingering consequences. Frenchy was rough NGL but like...one episode left? That's the kind of death that's a catalyst for the remainder of the story.

Till they froze Soldier Boy, I thought the setup would be that he would hug Homelander, giving him closure and probably the first real hug he had ever received. The irony would be that, through this hug, Homelander experiences love for the first time, while Soldier Boy charges up his attack and turns him into a human.

I wonder if in the series finale, that they somehow get Soldier Boy unfroze and that he's gonna to be one of the key figures to take down Homelander

Maybe can happen. I mean, everything is fucked up more than ever now (unfortunately includes the writing), so the "good guys" can do some kind of massive explosion to turn every supe into normal and Homelander becomes a hobo\crazy dude - and if the writer's goes even fsr with bullshit, everything was on Homelanders mind and he was always just a ordinary hobo/crazy guy

I really don't expect a single good thing in the story telling, and chances are that everyone still will be disappointed

Absolute terrible episode 7, pure garbage. "Final season" and nothing happens for 7 episodes...

What they did with Frenchie was absolutely terrible as well. This is GOT S8 level of idiocy (or close to it).

It was announced years ago, no one knows what it's about and it looks like they haven't even made a pilot, but they're still trying to make it...

I do want to ask you about the state of The Boys: Mexico concept that we've been hearing about. Is that anywhere closer to moving forward?

Yeah. They just delivered a draft of the pilot to Amazon. Amazon seemed to really like it and seemed to be making all the right noises. They gave some notes, so we're gonna incorporate those notes. Gareth [Dunnet-Alcocer], who is the writer, is so smart and good. He'll do, I'm sure, another draft. But it feels like...who the hell knows? You can never predict this stuff, but we're hopeful.
With Amazon pulling the plug on Gen V and everyone hating the last season I wouldn't be surprised if they never produce it.

yeah, I suspect they will quietly put The Boys to rest, especially if Kripke is expensive to keep on.

It's still I believe their most watched show, and I iamgine Vought Rising will be popular.

The Mexico spin-off likely has a strategic purpose for them as well being that it is supposed to be all in Spanish. LATAM is a big growth market for these companies. I could still see it get cancelled but I also doubt it will need as much of a budget.

This season's "train like" video on a Boys star:

It would be funny if Homelander actually won. Anything would be better than the direction the finale is currently taking.

and even better better, is that the religious dictatorship he sets up creates massive wealth, global increase in standard of living, and a new age of enlightenment.....he holds back the forces of chaos and marauding evil, until he is betrayed by one of his most trusted generals and killed, and his undead body is fed the souls of millions to protect all humanity as his greatest sacrifice.....

Homelander will never win. Writers hate him too much. It is like the situation with Deep - basically humiliation porn.

Writers love the side characters (probably self insert for them) and the Soldier Boy (handsome guy).

I'm excited for the final episode just so I don't have to watch this shit anymore.

Truly incredible how much of a nose dive in quality this show took after 2 seasons. It just keeps digging further but what else is there to watch?

Felt like season 1&2 were a 9/10, 3 a 7.5/10, 4 was a 6/10, and season 5 so far is as 5/10 as you can get.

Is it because of writers strikes or what? I'm baffled. Butcher and homelander acting carry the show, but they constantly haven't known what to do with their characters and arcs.

Is the source material this fall off a cliff bad as it went on?

The source material is worse, lol.

Honestly the only scene that made me chuckle, how fish said they will never forget. The Oil indecent was fish's 9/11.

This just made me realize nothing this season has been hilarious or shocking either.

Giant nothing burger.

I have always had mixed feelings on the show but the show has it's moments like the Homelander forcing those people to die on the airplane, the massacre at the courtroom especially when it came out of nowhere etc were very effective. This season I don't think had any of those moments

The only thing that would redeem this show would be Homelander stopping giving a fuck about his numbers and reputation and start destroying everything and killing everyone. A full hour of him not holding back and massacring every other character. And after that he becomes a ruthless dictator or something. This would be the only satisfying ending for me because of how shitty everything about this universe has become. Just erase everything.

If it's anything other than that i will not even watch it (i don't care about spoilers for this one). I haven't watched the last couple of episodes anyway because who cares what happens. I don't even have the curiosity of how bad it will be.

SPOILER

Feels a little off, but not terrible to hate

I guess they derail too much on the Homelander thing. I hope the VFX is all this they are talking about

and also, the showrunner wanted everyone to hate Homelander, and they just keep developing on him... they forgot how character writing works?!
