It does look good but it really is missing the "charm" of the old games. It's just a little plain looking. Seems to be lacking any personality. I still plan on picking it up, though.

Wipeout HD and Bionic Commando Rearmed look like aren't going to be released soon, so I think 1942 will be my main downloadable game this month.

Mr Jared said:Actually, an hour and 20 minutes. New XBL content goes up at 2AM PST.
(Unless something has changed recently?)
Shard said:In the past the content has been known to show up an hour or two hours early.

G-Fex said:it's...not good like 1943: counter attack?
GrayFoxPL said:Not surprised if it sucks. Didn't like the look of it since the first screens, videos. Original games also were very frustrating, making them often not fun at all imo. Nostalgia makes people forget.

It isn't the first game in the series using "widescreen"(exactly vertical shooter with non-rotated screen):Mr Jared said:I have high hopes for this oneSome folks are worried about a vertical shooter using a widescreen format, but the game has really been designed with this in mind. It's the gameplay of 19XX with the flight formations of 1941: Counter Attack.
Meaning, you're going to get your crazy weapons and kamikaze pilots are much more of a threat than bullet patterns.

Ugh, why couldn't they separate the function to two buttons? I'm sure we have enough buttons...Brashnir said:You tap it to fire, or you can hold it down for a charged shot.

Whoa! Seems kinda minor, but no fucking way. Tap tap tap I hate tapping the damn buttons. There should definitely be some sort of toggle in the controls menu. Looks like I'll hold off on this until I hear they maybe patched it. This game requires a lot of shooting, so a lot of tapping is a turn-off. Ugh...how the fuck do you get that wrong? It's a friggin' remake of a shooter. Just stick to the original plan.Ploid 3.0 said:You have to tap the shoot button? That's strange.
Chiaroscuro said:I bought it this morning after checking the demo briefly. I did not have time to play the full game yet, but 2 things bothered me:
1 - Tapping the A button to fire (as already mentioned)O
2 - The plane animations on the menu. It is cool the first time, but it is overused, slow and a pain to navigate the menus after a few seconds.
I can only play it more tonight.

Pansies, the lot of you!

I've dropped a few coins in the arcade machines since then, but the last time I played it extensively was on the NES. :lol I had no idea the game was a tap-fest. My memory of this game was a lot better than the reality of it. WTF were we doing do our thumbs back then? PEACE.levious said:tap/charge has been part of this series for awhile I think, seems a weird thing to complain about.
