Sweet. That looks like it'll blow up nicely.

That Civic Arena's about to get blowed up real good.

It's the Melon Arena now...or was..or whatever :P

Yeah thats the one rumor me and all my friends who go to film school in downtown Pittsburgh joke around about.

If only...

However there are plenty of buildings I can see Nolan doing something with that aren't used for anything anymore.

Mayor Richard is back

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118035522

Exclusive: The Mayor of Gotham is returning to office.
Nestor Carbonell is in negotiations to reprise his role as Gotham's Mayor in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises."

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman are all returning for Warner Bros.' superhero sequel. They'll be joined by franchise newcomers Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence and Daniel Sunjata. Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are also being eyed for supporting roles.

Nolan, who penned the screenplay with his brother Jonathan, will produce with his longtime producing partner Emma Thomas, as well as Charles Roven. Production is slated to start this summer in Pittsburgh.

Warner Bros. will release "The Dark Knight Rises" on July 20, 2012.

I don't understand how you can "explode" the Civic Arena. It's basically a massive steel dome.

I live in Pittsburgh though and this would be the coolest thing ever.

Don't know how true this is, but

My Entertainment World, which is a film production site used by crew members and actors to find jobs in the industry, has updated their information for The Dark Knight Rises, and this new story description indicates that Dr. Hugo Strange is, in fact, the main villain in Christopher Nolan's trilogy ending Batman sequel.

Apparently, the movie will also be shooting under the alternate titles 'Magnus Rex' and 'Fox Hills Green' to keep prying eyes away from the set.

Here is the plot synopsis offered.

"The Dark Knight Rises (aka MAGNUS REX & FOX HILLS GREEN) - Mid June, 2011 - India & London, UK & New York, NY & Pittsburgh, PA; STORY: As Batman deals with his new status as a wanted vigilante, Dr. Hugo Strange, a villainous psychiatrist, concocts a plan to destroy him and become the new Batman. (Posted: June 17, 2010. Revised: April 14, 2011)"

The site also claims that there is a Baby Geniuses 3 in the works, which we have confirmed to be true, so this must be solid information.
Hey at least Gary Oldman is confirmed for Baby Geniuses 3. Woo!

I am so terribly confused.

At this point, im pretty much convinced that this is what Nolan's going for. Totally cool with it, keep adding people and batshit insane theories/fake news to get people confused until the real thing comes along.

Sounds like they mixed up the plot with Arkham City.

They also had New Orleans has a shooting location up til a couple of weeks ago.

But they've never had the Eddie Murphy rumor. Does that make it real?!

Joe:

Awesome roles.
The two have been written as being in various stages of negotiations for months.

Warner Bros confirmed today that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, which is being billed as the “conclusion of the Dark Knight legend,” meaning the end of Christopher Nolan’s run on the Batman movies.

The two have been written as being in various stages of negotiations for months, with much speculation as who the two are playing.

The studio said Cotillard will play as
Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

Gordon-Levitt will play
John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.

Both worked with Nolan on Inception.

“When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of
Miranda and Blake
, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again,” Nolan said in a statement.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012.
I like this more than what they were rumored for. Keeping it simple. Original characters I think, too.

This this is just a cover up for their real roles?

Gordon-Levitt, Cotillard confirmed for 'Dark Knight'
Gordon-Levitt to play John Blake, Cotillard is Miranda Tate

After much speculation, Warner Bros. has finally confirmed the casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" and announced their respective roles.

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commisioner Gordon, while Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

More to come...

Edit: ah fuck.

what

WHAT

MIND BL--

Actually, this is cool. More breathing room for Bane and Catwoman at least.

Also, "resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham" sounds pretty damn similar (like, identically similar) to how I previously wrote how Bruce's story will end.

I'm betting...

Miranda Tate is a cover for Talia. She's trying to take Wayne down from the inside while Bane leads the League of Shadows in the front against his Batman side.

JGL's Blake will be part of a newly formed task force assigned to catch Batman.

I would like this.

Wouldn't Tate being Talia just be reusing the same Ducard = Ra's twist?

In any case, I like that Nolan is beefing up Gordon's unit.

There's no changes because their roles weren't made official until now.

This is just like when Tom Hardy was announced and people swore up and down that he'd be Hugo Strange, only for Nolan to turn around and reveal that he'll be Bane.

This sounds really good actually.

Ugh I really hope Cotillard doesn't end up being Talia in some sort of twist. I know they already whitewashed Ra's, but come on.

Ducard's duplicity wasn't that major. It's not like there was ever a time that Wayne didn't think he was a key player in the League of Shadows. Wayne knows nothing about Talia, so if someone close to him turns out to be her, that would be a huge twist for him. It would play out completely differently and have very different consequences and meanings.

I'm talking about from an audience perspective though.

Then again it could work out in Nolan's favor since I don't think the majority of TDK's audience ever saw BB. :lol

Same goes for the audience. It's a significantly different situation that works in a different way. Plus, just because Bruce Wayne is unaware, doesn't mean the audience is. If it's kept a secret from the audience, it's still different than Batman Begins. In that one, the real twist was just that Ducard was alive. The name change was a pretty superficial thing. My idea here would be being presented a character very different from the truth.

Obviously... we know all board members turn on Bruce... Mr. Earle and Mr. Reese!

And there's no good cops in Gotham other than Gordon... so obviously he works for the mob.

#BaselessSpeculation
Mr. Earle and Mr. Reese to team up with Miranda Tate.

Well, Nolan has assembled a stellar cast. He delivered with the previous two films, I'm sure he will with this one, the only thing he has to guard against is relying too much on earlier films when it comes to the main story beats. He has to re-introduce the key plot points from previous films if he wants it to work as a finale. Don't let it end up like the most recent Harry Potter where it's a bunch of garbled shit with no context.
