The Darkness: The Official Thread

It really is frustrating that the reviewers did not mention the differences between the 2 versions even non-graphics whores will notice it.

Shame on the reviewers for leaving us multiplatform owners in the dark.

**** them.

I've already stated my concerns. My 360 is dying, so I'd like to try to save it until I can play Bioshock and Halo 3. I think that's understandable. So, I'd rather pick up the PS3 version. But PS3 version lacks graphical features that, IMO and the opinion of my wallet, should be there. No sale. Pretty simple. I just did rent it though, so I'll give it a run through.

Just get it on the 360, let it die and get it refurbed.

Ain't happening. I'm not going to pay MS for a refurb. I'll let it RIP when it goes. I'll buy another one when they get things under control with the failure rate and a lower price.

To each his own and all, I guess it's just what you get used to. I prefer the 360 controller for all games really. I do think that NGS controls very well on the PS3. Ultimately though, the stock PS3 controller is too small for my hands and I prefer having AA NiMH batteries to plugging in the controller when the batteries get low. I'm looking forward to a nice after market controller with better size, rumble, and AA's.

Buy it on 360 for the best version and the trill to maybe never finish the game!

Buy it on PS3 for awesome movies and second only to 360 in graphic!!

Buy it on the Wii,you'll save loading time and cash!!!

I thought the repair was free?

We have a 2 year MS warranty over here. Anyway can't wait to try the game.

The frame rate is the same in both versions. I have seen no difference. The 360 version looks blurrier .. the ps3 sharper.

Ign blows everything out of proportion.

Do you have both versions?

Are you trustworthy?

I ran in circles through some alleys until it went someone I was not going.

when i acquire the means to handle that situation, it is going to lead to levels of retribution and fist-pumping not seen since half-life's "surface tension" chapter

Personal preference, what can I say? Although this may just be because Resistance controlled so well, so maybe it sucks for other FPS.

Wow. Pathetic. :lol

So I'm about to go literally drive to Bellevue and pick up a copy of this game.

Which version should I get? I have not read this entire thread, sorry. And please just the facts, not trying to start shit.

If you care for graphical touches-> 360. If you plan in spending hours watching T.V content in the game-> Ps3.

If neither, well...what controller do you like more? Rumble, no rumble, etc

I just completed the game. The ending sequence was so awesome! :D :D :D

I'm going to play through it again tonight. I only completed about 13% of the side missions.

A long shot, but can you replay it with all your powers from the beginning once you finish it?

so got my 360 version...dissapointed that I can't play it with the Sixaxis (one of the few that love the feel of it also...), with HDMI, quieter console, etc.....but couldn't get over the dissapointment =/

I will give IGN the benefit of the doubt and assume they have finished both verions.

I think you give them too much credit.

Che, the 360 version has motion blur and more obvious AA. The PS3 version has an additional channel on the TVs that appear in the game and slightly better sound quality.

I know it got buried with the new wave of posters that came into the thread, but for those that haven't seen the GT review, check it out. Their reviews are simply awesome and very informative... plus they seem to mention everything from other reviews (good and bad).

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/20941.html

there's also the HD version but if I click to link it my work computer will die.

Pathetic, huh? Resistance controls better than any other console FPS I've played, which could be because the controller is great (I like the size and low weight), or it could just be a matter of Insomniac being damned good at making games work with the PS style controller. I said as much in the post you quoted. Care to explain in more detail how this is pathetic? Then again, as I recall you're the dude who claimed that rumble made firing guns in games feel just like the real thing, so maybe I shouldn't expect too much.

not meaning to troll or anything but I couldnt stand the control in resistance...the PS3 controller nubs are a bit too loose for my tastes. Then again I'm more of a pc fps fan but I cant stand that controller for fps.

While you jerks are busy flopping your e-cocks around, I've been playing. It's a very good game. Voice acting lives up to the pedigree. The phone calls are friggin' hilarious. Motion blur, AA, AF, rumble, whatever, just buy the game and play it.

I couldn't stand any console FPS until I played Halo. I tried playing Red Faction back in the day, and it was a mess. Halo, while still clunky compared to kb+m, was at least functional. I felt the same way about the DS design until I played Resistance. To each their own I suppose, but it worked real well for me.

so you know someone with a gamertag?

edit: i cant really view it due not being part of windows live or something. but ok fine i believe you(although it could be anyones gamertag) man but atleast admit being tainted with bias like the rest of us.

Eh, I'm pretty sure I'm one of the most openly biased people around here. Tainted? I'm practically crawling with it. But that doesn't change anything about my argument, does it?

AA and motion blur, you honestly call that "super minor"? And as said earlier, I never once said I wasn't going to buy it due to these issues, merely that I was disappointed in Starbreeze for screwing this up. You're the one responsible for the overreaction here.

You do realize that those two things (AA and Motion Blur) are things that the 360 is actually better than the PS3 at, right? Those are the exact things that 10MB EDRAM was supposed to help. There is very likely a techical reason why the PS3 version doesn't have AA and motion blur, so if you want to complain to anybody complain to Sony.

Now, given that they could get motion blur on the 360 and couldn't on the PS3 (on a technical level), what exactly do you think they should have done? The only two options I see are take away the AA and MB on the 360 or have uneven platforms, and I would much rather have uneven platforms (ie. let the PS3 benefit from Blu-Ray and let the 360 get AA and Motion Blur). Unless of course you want to take out the PS3 extras...

the thing is resistance looks better than this and was doing more on screen.

By the way, this game is really good.

Just thought i'd try and get that in there before something bad happens to this thread :\

resistance is aslo a game built from the ground for PS3...

as this should have been instead of being neutered. You really need to stop defending the Game that you have not played at all this is bordering on Viral marketing.

Your friend worked on the game so you will defend it without even playing it?

You make me sad. I've been sitting at work knowing the awesomness I'm missing, and all I have to show for the game so far is the instruction manual :(

My darkling just pissed on a guy. Then I ate his heart, which is kinda double gross.

you also need to stop wrecking havoc in this thread going off topic which fps controller is better, complaining at console bias, talking about resistance etc. Geez...
