Saw EXPENDABLES 2 last night.
Loved every minute of it. JCVD is a great villain.
oh god tomorrow can't come soon enough
ryutaro's mama likes this.
Hollywood that desperate?
Expendables hasn't posted in this thread since the better reviews came out. Probably hitting refresh like a mad man on RT waiting to post the next negative one he finds.
Hollywood that desperate?
You posted that right when those two new bad reviews hit. Just saying...
Like some have said..it could have a zero on RT and they would still go, me included.
Notice how Plainview posts immediately after you call him out. He's like the little brother listening at the door, wishing he could be bigger.
Sorry homie, Jason Scwartzman and Zoey Deschanel arent in this one. There are no Beasts, no Celestes or Jesses and there are no Al WeiWeis. You are better off heading downtown and watching The Intouchables for 100th time than spending time in this thread.

Van Damme is my hero. I will shed a man tear if he dies.
So so so hyped to the moon. I think a double header of this and Rifftrax is needed tonight!Oh and Chuck Norris is comedy gold in this.
He's the villain. He'll die, probably to a sweet one liner.
And his twin brother will seek revenge in Part 3!

Best action movie this decade, for me.
That crown was placed in the first 15 minutes, which is better than the whole of Expendables 1. That opening set piece had parts from the trailer that I just assumed were part of the climax because of how big they looked, scale wise. It had an incredible pace to it.
The "saggy" middle that I keep hearing about isnt slow at all. After the first set piece the movie goes a total of 10 minutes before they are out on their next mission..and they never get off the mission. The middle isnt saggy, its stringing along the plot. Its an action movie plot and what I always appreciate about an action plot is how simple they are. No need for subtext and pathos just something that makes me root for the good guys while in pursuit of the bad guys. Plus if you like the team you like watching/hearing them bust each others balls.
The climax..I think I was punch drunk. There are so many deaths in the the final showdown and like the first one they figured out ridiculous ways to kill someone (think Statham swiping a guy 3 times with a machete or when he put a handgun up to someones stomach and fires 5 bullets into him). I needed a rewind button like...30 times.
And more than anything..I was smiling the whole time watching it. Nostalgia was my date for the night. I brought my fathers dog tags with me (he served in Vietnam) and I just thought the whole time how if he was still alive Id be bringing him to see this tonight..the same way he took me to see Commando and Red Heat and Marked for Death and Rambo 3 and Die Hard and Red Scorpion and just about every action movie that came out before he passed in 92.
Finally, three important things to know..
Those clips they released, specifically the motorcycle/helicopter and the airport assault...just like any good internet clip they are chopped to shit. They are MUCH better in the movie.
The CG sucks but what can ya do.
Ill be curious to hear if anyone else found the movie blurry during a lot of the interior stuff. I have no idea if this was film or digital..I would assume digital because of how soft the picture looked. Its either that or the RPX screen I saw it on. Which was LOUD. One friend was crying about how loud it was..I tried to break his back.
Hope everyone loves it like I did!
