Agree about The Orphanage, while I recognise it as a decent film, I kind of want more out of my ghost films.

Just watched original Transformers animated blu ray, didnt really know what to expect and was a little underwhelmed by it. Don't know why they bothered with a blu ray release, DVD does the job just fine for that quality video.

Radar - off the top of my head

Pre-orders
Wall-E for sure, one of my fave films ever.
The Dark Knight
Lost S4

Maybes
No Country For Old Men
There Will be Blood
Iron Man
Transformers

Rentals
Wild China
Nightmare Before Christmas
Wanted

Speed Racer, LA Confidential, Chuck S1, The Third Man, The Dark Knight, and Chunking Express are my purchases from now to X-mas.

How do you afford all this stuff, Costanza? You must have a pretty good job for high school student.

For me:

WALL-E
Iron Man
Beetlejuice
Ghostbusters
Dr. Strangelove
The Dark Knight
Kill Bill 1&2
Heathers
Young Frankenstein
The Matrix Collection

I'll be getting Cool Hand Luke, How the West Was Won and The Fall on Tuesday, and that's it until Chungking Express in November. Doesn't look like anything else for me for a while after that, either.

I really can't afford it all... but I tend to rotate my collection around, I guess.

I'll sell off a bunch of stuff that isn't really important to me and replace it with new things, then a few months later I'll just repeat the process. This fall is just... ridiculous though between all the games and Blu-rays. I've got like a hundred bucks to my name right now and the rest of my collection is stuff I care about and would never sell. I applied at BB and CC earlier today cause I really do need a job.

Iron Man
Transformers
Band of Brothers
The Matrix Trilogy
Kill Bill 1&2
The Dark Knight
Kung Fu Panda

Of these, I am still considering Iron Man. As good a movie as it is, I'm not sure if it's the kind of movie I'll be watching again. I bought Spider Man 2 on DVD and have yet to watch it so I'm not sure.

I'm double-dipping on The Matrix Trilogy but a friend of mine has agreed to buy the DVD boxset off of me so it's not exactly double-dipping though I'll be making a pretty huge loss on the DVD boxset that I've barely watched.

I bought it last week, but I'm saving it for either Halloween or Thanksgiving. It's too early in the year right now! :lol

I know, then again, I see stores selling Halloween crap already.

Anyways, has anyone heard anything about Kill Bill's PQ?

Blu-ray.com gave both volumes 5/5 in PQ. It's a Disney release, and they're almost always stellar, so not really a big surprise.

* edit. I refuse to double dip on older films anymore ... otherwise, I'd buy more stuff. Only buying catalogue stuff I don't own. Makes me somewhat sad, Irobot..etc etc.

LOST S4
Speed Racer
The Dark Knight
Salo
Kill Bill 1 & 2

For me it's the following:

The Dark Knight
Kill Bill
The new Hulk film
I want Wall-E so badly but since it's Disney...

I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff here, but that's what I tend to always do.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how is the picture quality for Ocean's Eleven? I would hope it's stellar. The colors in that movie are great.

I've got Lost in translation, being john malkovich and eternal sunshine all on HD-dvd :D

Damn, I kind of want killbill now but I already own them on dvd. :( The reviews on blu-ray.com are stellar. I love the films too. Might sell the older dvds or just get over it. I've added TWBB to my cart.

It's decent but nothing in that movie ever stood out to me. If you had told me it was a DVD playing, I would have believed you.

ooo i'll have to get the warriors. I just sold off a crap load of dvds so I need to replace soon.

I've switched back to Netflix (for 4 at a time shipping) and through the magic of throttling, I can get any movie there I want, like Baby Mama and Forbidden Kingdom even thought they don't come out until tomorrow. I have an urge to switch between BBOnline and Netflix every three months or so just so I can get the new releases.

It's really frustrating using these rental services and having your HD releases linger week after week. It really tests your patience and pushes you until you feel like just changing the format to dvd so you can see them. Thin is, even on the comedies that I have on queue (like harold & kumar) I prefer the HD version rather than the dvd. grrrr.

* edit. I refuse to double dip on older films anymore ... otherwise, I'd buy more stuff. Only buying catalogue stuff I don't own. Makes me somewhat sad, Irobot..etc etc.

IRobot looks and sounds phenomenal on Blu Ray. That is one movie where the double dip is TOTALLY worth it.

Got my copy of How the West Was Won this morning from Warner. Their custom packaging will continue to annoy some people, with this one in a digipak the same height as their book-style releases and almost twice as wide (to accommodate two discs and a booklet). Popping in the discs to check out the transfer, I'm instantly amazed at how good this looks -- easily on par with any of the current Westerns that are on high-def -- and they've done an excellent job fixing up the "flattened" version of the film, with virtually no noticeable distortion and the seams between the three sections of the image, while faintly visible in some shots, have largely been erased. The curved Cinerama version is a curiosity, more accurately recreating the theatrical showing but losing a small amount of the image on the sides, but I don't see myself sitting down to watched it this way.

Salo is locked at region-B, in case you were serious about buying it.

Yikes....
Kill Bill 1 & 2
Iron Man
Dark Knight
Hellboy 2
Wanted (if it hits before xmas)
Pushing Daisies
Incredible Hulk
GhostBusters.

My bank account is puckering up right now from the raping it's going to take.

Anyone else picking up Night Watch and Day Watch? I enjoyed the style of the first film even though the plot got really convoluted. I haven't seen Day Watch yet, but from what I've read it's a little disappointing.

Fox will likely burn me on a double-dip when the trilogy is finished.

Nope. Just stay optimistic that we won't have to wait until the end of the series.

Does Kill Bill have a different release date in Canada or something? Amazon.com lists it as releasing tomorrow, but Amazon.ca and BestBuy.ca have it at 21. October.

I believe the blurays come with a $10. mail-in-rebate each if you already own the movies on DVD, so if you order the movies from Amazon or if you order them from BestBuy.com and do an store pickup, you'll be paying around $10. each after the mail-in rebates and discounts for buying both movies at the same time.

I think Amazon.com has it exclusively for a while. Anyway, Canadian retailers are a rip-off. I only buy BR discs through Amazon.com.

has anybody redeemed the $10 rebate on Transformers blu ray?

the rebate form says it needs the upc or proof of purchase for both movies however, the upc and proof of purchase for the blu ray version are on the plastic slip case and the two disc DVD set that came out last year doesnt even have on the case. It was probably on the shrink wrap which every one threw away.

Yeah, there's also supposed to be a rebate on The Godfather but I can't find a Proof of Purchase anywhere on the packaging other than the UPC which is part of the box.

They probably want you to cut up the box.

Do we know if the Blu-ray release of Kill Bill is censored with that black and white scene?

The Kill Bill Blu-rays are identical, content-wise, to the R1 DVD versions, so yes, it's still the same cut of the film.

Only for the US.

Only US. You get $10 coupon for Eagle Eye movie ticket with Transformers BD though.

How much does the shipping to Canada cost though? For new movies Best Buy seems to have same prices as Amazon.com but Amazon can't be beat for deals.
