Its kind of funny that Capcom has released one of the most shameless ripoffs this side of Gameloft, but they also put out this game which imo is one of the most charming on the appstore aesthetically.

I haven't played too much of it, but I can see the gameplay wearing thin real fast which is a shame. Seems like it'd benefit from being structured more arcadey instead of being stage-based.

Ok, got a 12 hr plane flight. What are some good meaty iPhone games that'll eat up time?

I'd say Battleheart, Soosiz, Edge, Zenonia 1 or 2, Infinity Blade, maybe something like Cause of Death.

If you haven't played Soosiz yet than that, it has a ton of levels and is seriously good.

No! Don't do it! It's a bad bad game! Probably too late but seriously folks, this game is bad. It leaves a good first impression but it's shallower than a puddle on a hot day.
Its shallow, but its not super bad.
Besides, what else is he going to play on the device thats similar? The Resident Evil games? The gameloft ripoff of the Resident Evil games? Please.

(I actually do recommend Zombie Infection, but only if you're weird like me and get enjoyment out of playing janky as hell games)

Ok, so it's not the worst thing ever made but it's so damn boring (and I say this as a massive Dead Space fan). Linear corridors, jump 'scares' that wear thin after 10 minutes, rinse and repeat gamplay, mediocre visuals... there is so much to love on the iOS platform, playing this game is just wasting your time. It could have been so awesome, but the actual game feels like it was shat out in a week by people that hadn't played a game in 7 years.

People should not put up with and pay for mediocrity, even when there are few other games similar. These kinds of games are simply not well suited to iOS, and that's not even a control issue. Once you strip out story setting and exploration from DS all you have is monster closets and 5 enemy types. It's crap.

I wish there was a demo for Dead Space. Seems so controversial. In other news, DJ RIVALS HAS LANDED. Free. I've been waiting for this.

I want to recommend this to anyone who likes music or rpg-ish games. It's kinda light on both elements with a lot of customizing and stats. You're a DJ fighting Bland Corp to restore music in places named after your neighborhood via GPS. You fight in turn based battles with different music attacks like tapping to bass, holds, or scratching. You can buy and equip tons of different attacks.

The timing felt a bit odd at first and the music is short clips but I'm really digging this game. There's charming visuals, good-ish music and some other cool stuff like challenges and pseudo-multiplayer (you vs. other player's stats, not live).

Has anyone tried League of Evil yet?
Basically everyone here, it's a thread favorite.
But at least you have good tastes :)

Johnny, is DJ RIVALS free because there are in app purchases or something similar?

Yeah. As far as I can tell those purchases are just for in game currency which isn't tough to earn in the first place.

Probably obvious to most, but you can link daggers and the enemies... made it a *lot* easier for me.

Well the swords don't actually do anything on their own, as far as I'm aware of. I can imagine it'd be pretty hard if you never used them though.

I'll try DJ Rivals in the future then.

Btw, I wanted to ask of anybody here has a contact for the League of Evil's devs?
Basically, we know the game is unplayable on the iPad but I think there's something simple that can be done if they don't want to make the app Universal and properly adapt it, I wanted to just mail them my feedback.
Basically the biggest problem is that on the iPhone you control your character with your thumb, and slightly "roll" the finger left and right to click the arrows and move the cyborg guy. On the iPad you have to play with two fingers, it sucks because of how the controls are set-up (perfect on the iPhone/Touch), BUT a simple solution would be changing the control arrows code to allow the latter push to always override the former push so that you don't have to make a silly "lift-up-the-finger-push-with-the-other and repeat" dance... Just put settings in the game's options to chose that; that alone would bring it up to snuff as far as playing on the iPad = more sales = win win

:>

ok kami retro is pretty cool so far. it's a nice mixture of puzzle/platformer. your on-screen character is basically on autopilot and it's up to you to time the right jumps and have him move in the right direction. it's a nice change of pace.

I don't know why but I just can't really get into Dungeon Raid. I die pretty quickly. Any tips?

I kind of top out around 5k-6k but here are some tips that get me that far

- you should be linking swords and skulls. As you note swords don't do anything on their own, but they quickly become absolutely necessary once you get about 50 turns in.

- attack monsters the turn they appear where you can because they won't get the chance to attack. Strategically there may be reasons like picking up shields or clearing the board in the hope of bringing in more swords, but as a general rule hit them first.

- I used to be conservative, and try to hoard stuff, but I find I get much further when making as big a combo as possible, even if that means linking swords that end up being overkill. This tends to turn over the board faster, leads to bigger combos of shields/gold/skulls and means you can make more progress in a shorter number of turns.

- I always get rid of the health potions early on by as much as I can even when I don't need it. The monsters hardly damage you early in the game, so you are better off getting rid of them in the hope of killing more skulls and collecting more gold/shields when you are the least vulnerable.

- Skills I have found useful are Teleport as a "get out of trouble" panic button, Enchant Item lets you power up your stuff faster than you otherwise might for "free", and Banish/Exorcise for when you are caught with a bad playfield when a troublesome boss turns up. I'll usually take the stats upgrades over any other skill because I find the rest only useful in specific circumstances.

- My leveling up choices depend on what options I have early on. But generally I like powering up damage, defence, health in that order and strength, luck, dexterity in that order. I take the poison and spikes options when offered, and am also fond of regenerate early on (I power up spikes and regenerate where possible).

- I consider each set of upgrade options carefully, and try to avoid losing stats bonuses I had previously picked up in order to get dfferent bonuses. Generally if you pass on an upgrade option like this for a particular item, you'll be offered something better which retains the earlier bonus within the next couple of sets.

- The most dangerous boss in my opinion is the Rally boss who changes swords to skulls. Not only does this generate more monsters attacking you, but every turn you lose a sword which dimishes the ability to kill him further. You need to deal with this guy fast. I also can find the Fire boss a pain, depending on the way the playfield is set up.

I'm probably doing something wrong there and the poster who said they hit 35k should come forward with their strategy, but the above should regularly get you to between 3k-5k.

Hope that helps.

Hey guys, how come I can't add games to the Game Vault app? I just started using it 5 minutes ago, but the + button to add games doesn't seem to do anything.

Man I need to get on OF so I can take you guys down. Gamecenter support is coming at some point, but...might as well toy around with OF in the meantime.
Do it man! GC is much smoother but damn OF still beat it to death with features.. If it wasn't for Flunkie sending out challenges I don't think I would've boot the game again this month.
As soon as I saw you weren't on the OF list I knew I had a chance :P
In the meatime herrhulot as taken top spot in all the challenges, my glory was shortlived as usual
