A plug for a friend, His game just went live on the NZ store (should be up in the US as well)

from the same guys who did Scarlett and the spark of life(which got some good buzz a little while back)

My friend did the art for the game, and I think it looks pretty dam amazing.

Gameplay is very similar to tiny wings, which imo isnt a bad thing!

Hate to sound like some marketing douche, but im really proud at what those guys have put out. Hopefully theres more instore

Bought :)

Man... Still loving this little free game called Supersonic (though it's not free on iPad I believe, but on iPhone/iPod it's free with reasonable IAP). Reminds me a bit of Wipeout and Rez in some ways and it's doing an adequate job of giving me my stylish-fast-futuristic-game-with-great-music fix. I'm REALLY owning it on the leaderboards too... Probably because I used to play the Wipeout games to death and as a result easily get good fast at these kinds of games.

I got X-Men, and the first thing I noticed was that the jump button does a slight forward jump, is there a way to set it to jump straight up like the original? It's throwing my Nightcrawler tail flip game off.

Back to the Future price drop to --- FREE
I knew if I waited it'd drop soon! Now I can see what it's all about without buyers remorse. Downloading now! I didn't know the 4th just came out either. I thought the 3rd was the newest.

Edit: Okay, pet peeve time...

Seriously? Every iPad and iPod and iPhone has the exact same font size and the exact same amount of space for the title. They couldn't shorten the fucking thing? Something like "BTTF Ep 1" would look a shitload better than "Back to...Ep 1". WTF people? I see this so much. Reckess Racing does this too. Or should I say "Reckle...ng HD"? Crossfingers Free does it too. It's so annoying because it screws up my OCD. I can't stand anything being out of place and this just bugs the shit out of me. It wouldn't be so bad if I could rename apps. But seriously. How can they NOT know that their icon title is too fucking long?

My buddy Ryan (son of Sid Meier, actually) just got his first game on the App Store. Started off as a college project, called RockPaperScissorsBOMB.

Figured I'd pimp it a bit. =)

It's basically a fast-paced puzzle battle game where you send Rocks, Paper, Scissors, and Bombs down four lanes, to your opponent's side. They do the same. The more you get to your opponent's side (especially bombs), the more damage they take. As expected, rock plows through scissors, but gets destroyed by paper. Two rocks cancel each other out. (Etc.) Bombs get taken out by anything, but do crazy damage if you get them over to the opponent's side.

You can play against another person (on one device), or against the AI. IMO, pretty fun on an iPad against a friend.

I'm gonna ask him for some download codes to hand out to you guys later. It's a buck right now. If you get it, please leave impressions on what you like, and what could be improved.

At least "Back to...Ep 1" works as a sort of bastard joke vs just cutting off in the middle of words like...well I have a crapload of apps on my phone and the only one I have that cuts off is..."Reckl...acing".

The update for Boost 3d - which turns the title into Boost 2 - is awesome! I'm glad to really get back into this game again as it's one of the first iOS games I've ever bought and it's still the best 3d tunnel racer for the platform. Sorry Reese-015, while Supersonic is good, it doesn't dethrone the king.

Edit - the multiplayer mode they added is completely pointless since there is absolutely no interaction with the person you're playing against. Having two individual races happening concurrently and comparing your score at the end isn't compelling multiplayer gaming at all.

I kinda see what you mean, but honestly I got the whole $7 game for free. They can call it Scrotal Fantasy for all I care.

Holy shit. Just downloaded it. Not sure if I like it more but it's DAMN good! I love that, like Supersonic, it's also really polished and stylized, music and visuals are excellent.

App Store still says last updated 9 Nov 2009 for me?

Nice! I've been holding out on BttF :) Did hear that Episode 3 is free on PSN so I need to check that out as well. Would buy the X-Men Arcade title but I already own it on my PS3 :/

I changed my mind about the multiplayer in Boost 2; it's pretty cool since it has a real slick, even more minimalist look to it than the singleplayer modes and it's way faster and intense from the get go. I also love what they changed about the way boosting works. In Boost 3d, there was no time limit and every time you hit a boost pad, you would go a little faster but start slowing down after a few seconds unless you kept chaining boosts in quick succession. In Boost 2, there are three speeds of boost and once you hit one, you never slow down unless you hit an obstacle that brings you down to your slowest speed. Each time you hit a boost pad, a few seconds get added to the timer, and the opposite when you hit an obstacle when in any kind of boost. If you get to the highest speed, the timer actually starts going in reverse.

I've always had this game on my iPhone ever since I bought it but I never really thought I'd really get back into again but this update completely breathed new life into it.

I goddamn love iOS gaming!

Wasn't sure which thread to ask this in...

I've never had an iOS device. I'm receiving a 4G iPod touch in the next couple of days or so.. Anyway, can anyone explain to me what jailbreaking is and why I might want to do it? I've googled it, but most answers I've read are scattered..

Just wondering what the pros/cons are for jailbreaking to decide if it is something I should consider. Does it void the warranty? Does it make it unstable at all? Does it add extra functionality that might be worth it?

Also, where would you find the 3rd party apps that you can install on a jailbroken ipod?

Oh that is so cool! Man... Boost 2 is awesome! Love polished visuals and music. And the variations (tunnel folding open at one point, moving cubes etc) is sorta what Supersonic is lacking atm. Definitely gonna keep playing both though, it's gonna be interesting to see how Supersonic evolves. With the right updates, that game would be fantastic. But right now, overall, I agree Boost 2 has an edge over Supersonic!

edit: DAMN Boost 2 is addictive... Why do the moving cubes instantly kill you WHY WHYYYYYY...

Moving cubes act like any other obstacle. If you're in any kind of boost state, hitting them slows you all the way down; if you hit them at your slowest, game over. Of course, hitting anything in survival mode kills you instantly. Speaking of survival mode, if you survive far enough, you start seeing some cool and unique visuals. Wonder if the same thing happens in time attack mode.

Oooh damn that's a cool gameplay mechanic. Already #63 in the gc time trial leaderboards and I haven't played it much yet. I'm SO gonna own this shit :D. Survival seems awesome too but haven't really tried it out much yet.

BTTF Ep 1 runs like dog poop on the iPad 2. Weird pauses, broken lip syncing... Arghhh

Yeah I was surprised at how much it seemed to choke. I bet it would run much better after a fresh reboot of the iPad, but I didn't care enough to try.

Does Boost 2 have good depth of field? That's my only problem with Supersonic so far (in the Classic mode, at least).

Great game though, and really good sountrack.

Much prefer Supersonic's Blitz mode but haven't played classic all that much. Boost 2 doesn't have the translucency and has a lot of twists and turns so while it might have the same draw distance as supersonic, it looks more 'perfect' cause you barely (if at all) see stuff pop in. But goddamn it's good... I think I tried some sorts Boost 3D Lite once way back and didn't like it (or it was an almost identical clone) but Boost 2 is superb.

Apparently Battlefield Bad Company 2 is out on iPad, anyone have it? Worth $10?

If it's anything like the iPhone/iPod touch version, then no. Very bland and average. I'd probably stick with something from Gameloft like MC2 or Nova 2

I really like the controls for BC2 but the game itself isn't anything special. Not bad but standard shooter action. The online is pretty stable and enjoyable but I feel like movement is too slow.

Wow, this game is so ugly on iPad 2.

There is no need to, either.. they should have optimized it better. It looks like the PC version running on lowest settings.

Telltale is notorious with shitty graphics optimization, especially on iOS.

It's funny because BTTF was one of the games people said was most improved by the release of the iPad 2. The impressions I read didn't mention the game ran like ass still.

Just finished BTTF1. Pretty good. But it was too short to justify paying full price for the rest. Maybe if they were $2.99 each or all in one app for $9.99.

Part I don't get is the first screen you see. It is really low quality and shows the 5 episodes and a Play button but takes a few seconds to load after you tap it but doesn't give feedback to imply you hit the button correctly.

I bought carcossone for iPad. Never played this game before, but all the hype on here made me very interested. Now time to learn how to play and get involved In the community :)

I'm looking for a good tower defense game on iPad. Beat PvZ on iPhone and I own field runners on iPad. Any thing I'm missing?

Uh, you're missing...a lot. Like, a lot.

I'll kick it off by recommending The Creeps and the Sentinel triology.

Just bought all 3 sentinels.

What other games should I get on iPad? I have tons of iPhone 4 games, but I want hd games. I need a lot of games, I'll be in Europe for a month.

Anyone else played Incredible Express on iPad? It's a time management game, mixed with a railroad building game. Think Virtual City compared to SimCity. It's quite good, even though the voice acting is simply awful.
