elfinke said:A quick question away from gaming on the iOS for a moment - what RSS reader do you guys prefer on the iPhone? I'm currently using the free version of MobileRSS, which is rather good, but there are a few quirks with it that are beginning to grate. However, I'm not sure if these quirks are particular to the app, or to RSS readers in general.
Many of the RSS feeds I subscribe to will not download in their entirety using MobileRSS's 'render full post' option. MobileRSS frequently temporarily hangs, or takes an age to move between feeds (on iPhone4 here). The way it displays my feeds isn't nearly as customisable as I'd like, and in the end it is easier to login into google on the PC and make the changes I want.
Cheers.
You're better off getting them in a steam sale. The TellTale Pack which includes every game they've made, usually goes on sale for $50.00 at Christmas or the Mid Summer Sale.Jasoco said:Okay. So I'm on the fence still. I love Back to the Future, but I have not bought any of the games yet. Are the iPad games worth $8? Should I wait for a sale? How replayable are they? If at all? How is the voice acting?

I'm in the same boat. I was sure that once ep2 came out ep1 would go on sale, so I held out. But now 3 is out and still no sale. I really want to play these, but $8 a pop is a lot. I'm sure they'll eventually come on sale though, since Telltale has had AppStore sales in the past. And I know if I get these games now I'll kick myself because chances are I won't play them much leading up to a future sale... at least not $8 worth of play. So I continue playing the waiting game. But at least once a week I'll go to the app store and stare at the BttF page for a few seconds.Jasoco said:I really wanted them on my iPad though. Not my computer. I'd be more inclined to play them if I am lounging and tapping with my fingers.

Eggo said:Great Little War Game is very similar to Advance Wars. My recommendation after PvZ is Tower Madness HD, which should be free this weekend, even though it's well worth the paid cost. Great updates and great gameplay, although the presentation is severely lacking.
I just grabbed the free version of byline - it's bloody wonderful! thanks for the recommendation.FerranMG said:The first rss reader I used was Byline (iPhone version). They have a free version with very unobtrusive adds. It was great.
Then I tried Reeder, and have been using Reeder ever since then because of a slightly prettier interface. The features are all the same, though.
I hope they put Reeder's iPad version on sale soon, I don't want to pay 5 bucks for it. :/

Really want to pick it up during a sale, but I'm that won't happen until xmassJswanko said:I just finished episode one and really enjoyed it; will definitely pick up episode two. The story is really solid and mechanically its a standard tell tale game. Also the touch controls work great. If you love BTTF I think its definitely worth the asking price.
EDIT: Oh but be warned that apparently its almost unplayable on original iPad. I played on iPad2 and it ran well
I read that the next update, 1.4, will improve the graphics, add new skirmish maps, and add another DLC campaign.catfish said:thanks for the recommendations grabbed em both.
great little war game is pretty nice, I do prefer the mechanics of advance wars though, for instance, you move your little guy and he still has a shooting range of 2 more squares. I find this makes it very hard to plan out your ranges. In advance wars you have units that have to be right next to the opponent and the firing ranges are clearer.
It is good though. Will finish the thing for sure. these guys should make a sequel, clean up the graphics a bit (some of the cars look like each other and the 3d is a bit dodgy) but a pretty solid game.
What bothers me about ipad is there isn't enough real content games yet, you can have a complete and very well polished game on there for a lot of genres, too many companies trying to shoehorn things like platformers in there, which doesn't play to the interface strengths. More tabletop/turn based games!!
Plants vs zombies is still 'best in class' for ipad.
Minsc said:Can't agree with this because it's significantly neutered compared to the PC (though less so than the iPhone version), and there's dozens of unique TD games that exist fully on the device like Defender Chronicles. Plants vs Zombies is great, but due to it missing a few key elements, I've decided it is disqualified from such a title.
catfish said:I had heard this and now that I'm 100% done with it (all achievements) I wish this wasn't true
I don't understand why they neutered it! I mean they could just put the whole game. It's silly. however, even knowing this, I think it's still worth the price of ipad admission, probably less so if you never played the PC one (I haven't)

"Civ like" is a good description for Civ Revolution...traveler said:What's the best Civ like or Srpg on the platform? I've just been admitted to the hospital for heart problems and I don't have anything else to do today.
Civ Rev is an almost direct port of the DS game, and I logged probably 200+ hours with it. It's arcade Civ, and I definitely recommend it.traveler said:What's the best Civ like or Srpg on the platform? Battle for Wesnoth. Might still be on sale. Good luck at the hospital.traveler said:What's the best Civ like or Srpg on the platform? I've just been admitted to the hospital for heart problems and I don't have anything else to do today.
If you're into visual rss news feeds, try Pulse News. There's an iPhone and iPad specific version, both are free and without ads.elfinke said:I just grabbed the free version of byline - it's bloody wonderful! thanks for the recommendation.
I'm keen to grab Reeder, but with an iPad2 purchase just around the corner (tax return present), I don't want to shell out for both versions.
Curse non-universal apps!
yeah, its my first dabble with strategy gamesDeadly Cyclone said:Forgot CivRev was on iPad. I have never played a Civ game but heard good things, is CivRev easy to get into if you are new?

Has been on sale for Memorial Day. Put the iPad version on sale and I'll care.bumpkin said:I don't know if anyone else was lying in wait for a price drop -- be it on sale or permanent -- but NBA Jam looks to be on sale for 99 cents right now. Apparently it's a tie-in with the NBA Finals.
Without question. Awesome awesome game. There are also several free and ISP track packs available now too. The main game is still a blast.DaCocoBrova said:Is Mad Skills Motorcross as good as it gets as far as Excite Bike clones?
