Meteos clone is on sale for $0.99 today, usually $2.99:

Just played this for a bit right now, just the "Classic" mode...but it's surprisingly good. I mean it doesn't have anywhere near the charm of the original (particularly the sound/music) but that's to be expected, but the gameplay is solid. Like I was a pretty hardcore Meteos player (used a rubber band to hold the speed up button down) and I'm having fun with this. Usually with knockoffs there's a bunch of details that are just way off that piss me off (and make you wonder whether the developers even knew what they were ripping off), but this feels like the devs actually knew the game pretty well (...but didn't have the music and sound design talent).

The biggest issue I see so far is that it's lacking multitouch. Not so much for block pushing with multiple fingers (or players), although that would be cool, but the big problem is that I can't hold down the speed up button and move blocks at the same time.

EA Mobile and Chillingo are going to be revealing a lot of new stuff at E3:

Sounds neat. Can't wait to see them in person.
Huh, Draw Race 2 is by Redlynx, surprised they aren't just self publishing that.

I thought the iPad version of Plants vs Zombies has everything the PC version has, plus an additional mini game.

PopCap really needs to make a Plants vs Zombies 2. It's been years now since the original came out.

There isn't even a Bejeweled for iPad, or any sort of Zuma iPhone / iPad or Bookworm Adventures iPhone / iPad game. It is a pretty boring process however, but you'd think that they would have made their engine's much less strenuous for for porting processes now.

At least they've started doing some Android stuff.

A plug for a friend, His game just went live on the NZ store (should be up in the US as well)

http://launchingpadgames.com/games/mighty-fin/

from the same guys who did Scarlett and the spark of life(which got some good buzz a little while back)

My friend did the art for the game, and I think it looks pretty dam amazing.

Gameplay is very similar to tiny wings, which imo isnt a bad thing!

Hate to sound like some marketing douche, but im really proud at what those guys have put out. Hopefully theres more instore

I just want a freaking Universal version of Bejewelled. Either an update to 2, or a release of 3 which has been out for months without a whisper of an iOS/Mobile release date.

I just play 2 in 2x mode on my iPad, but damn if I wouldn't love a native iPad version. Bonus if it is universal and isn't a separate HD version created solely to make sure they get more money from double-dippers.

Also, forget Zuma. Just get Luxor HD and its sequel. They're the same exact concept but with an Egyptian theme instead of Aztec.

There are so many match-3 games better than bejeweled, I'll never understand the love for it. Stuff like heroes of kalevala hd has so much more going for it, and if it's not the core game you like, there's still dozens of other ones. I don't know, bejeweled visual style has always seemed so bland to me though and the lack of a meta game hurts it a bit as well.

Luxor 3 & 4 >>>> Luxor 1 & 2 >= Zuma (any of them). Wish they'd throw up some of the newer Luxors on iOS.

I want Zookeeper. The true king of the match-3 genre.

Saying that, I doubt it'd be much fun. I've never found Piyo Blocks to be much fun on an iPhone. Stylus > Finger.

Picked it up, feeing the tiny wing vibe, will they be giving it some iPad love though? Missing that from tiny wings too :(

I know this has been touched On many times before, but I can't seem to find it. I just got my iPad 2 and I will be leaving on a month long euro trip next week and I need to load up my iPad with new games.

I have all of the usual suspects on my iPhone. Any game you can name that is worth while I own.

My question is. I have a 50 dollar iTunes gift card and want to load my iPad with the best (and HD) games available for the iPad. I need stuff that will keep me occupied on long plane trips and down time.

My tastes are all over the place (I pretty much enjoy anything that is good)

I can't think of any better place to ask for advice (I trust this thread more than reviews)

So have at it GAF spend my $50 for me. Anything from RPGs to match 3's to racing games and anything in between.

Oh and one more question. Maybe euro
Gaf can helpe with this one. What are my options while in Europe to enable my iPhone and 3G iPad to get Internet (euro sim I assume)

Thanks alot guys.....

I don't get why Popcap doesn't take iOS very seriously. And my plants n zombies would look great in retina too, supposing that'll never happen either.

They actually said retina + a few more game modes were coming down the road (but everyone's still waiting for them to deliver on it). But even with retina it still is not going to be a replacement for the PC version unfortunately. It needs the Zen Garden and a better framerate at the very least, things get choppy compared to the PC.

It's annoying how Apple won't let iPad view Retina games in full resolution, because Retina resolution is almost the same as iPad resolution.

I guess they want to make people pay 5x more for the "HD" version that's only a few lines of pixels more than Retina.

I played through the Monster Hunter game for a few matches, and I am really liking it. Simple enough to work on the iPhone. The only thing I have to get used to is how they slow down the Monster attacks to give you time to dodge more easily. I am used to the conventional speed, so I kept dodging too soon, only to get hit afterwards.

OS 5 conference is in 4 days... maybe... Though the bigger problem is all the UI would just 2x scaled, rather than sized and positioned appropriately for the iPad like in an universal app, so the virtual buttons/pads probably are gigantic on a 2x retina app, if they were large on the iPhone to begin with.

Edit: Though I guess it really wouldn't be any larger than 2x scaling a non-retina app, so nevermind that.

Anyone playing Order and Chaos the wow like game from Gameloft?

Thinking of picking it up but worried would be hard to control on iPhone.

Yep. It'd be the same UI stretching, but much clearer image.

I hope iOS 5 makes it easier to make Universal apps. They pretty much all should be universal or exclusive, none of this two seperate versions that are the same but cost a fortune to buy seperately.

Back to the Future Episode 1 is free. But I keep getting an error when I try to dl it on iPad and on iTunes.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, assuming it works I'm gonna grab it for the iPad later today.

Ok, downloads seem to be working again since I could finally buy X-Men. But now when I try to get BttF, I get a "This item is currently being modified" error... which worries me that the price was an error and it'll be going back to full once it's working again. Hoping for at least a sale though :/
