My 32GB is almost full. :lol

Figured out how to make a US iTunes account and my CC details work, so woo! Mirror's Edge and Castlevania bought! Also Puzzle Agent and I'll probably check out bit.trip.

Sale comes just as Fruit Ninja hits #2 on the charts for the first time in months. Poo.

*guiltily buys Puzzle Agent*

if you guys had moved your studio down to Melbourne and given me a job this wouldn't have happened :lol

Fuuuuuuuuck. Mirror's Edge, Bit.trip, Puzzle Agent, Spider (Manor), and CV, all bought. And I've DLed like another 4-6 things ine the past few days for free. Goddamn.

Puzzle Agent, Osmos, THPS2, Pac Man CE, GeoWars and bit.trip.beat all bought.

Really want Mirrors Edge but its not on the cheap in the australian store for some reason :(

THPS2 isn't that great. It looks exactly like the PS1 version , but the touch controls are crap. It's about as good as they could do, just not precise enough for the game. I paid 5 dollars for it, but 2 dollars is still a bit much. Not the original soundtrack either.

Thanks, guess I'll pass on THPS2 then. Aside from the control issues, not having the original soundtrack is a bummer.

Bought Mirror's Edge and I like it. Faith automatically runs forward and you simply swipe up to jump, swipe down to slide, etc. It's very basic but it works pretty well. There's achievements (called badges) and hidden bags to collect which earn you wallpapers that you can save to your photos (but they're all in landscape so far). Has a speedrun mode and leaderboards that you can download peoples ghost and try to beat their time. One stupid/sloppy thing is the music implementation, there's like a one second pause of dead air before the track re-loops.

BTW for those asking about Geo Wars Touch, there's a Lite version on the app store.

wtf is this shitty sale... most of the stuff isn't on sale in Europe :(
edit: ok puzzle agent and Spider, sweet... but no Mirror's Edge, Castlevania or PSII :(

Add both Monkey Islands and Vanguard Storm to the buy list. Haven't seen VS mentioned as on sale but it is.

So what's the deal with MI? Port wise 1 was good, 2 was amazing, and people are hoping they apply whatever they did to 2 to 1? Or am I totally off base?

I've been a huge fan of Critical Wave, which is probably the most beautiful, original and fun Geometry Wars clone in the app store... However... Now that the real deal is on sale, I bought Geometry Wars: Touch and I am completely overwhelmed by it's awesomeness. The graphics are fracking gorgeous on 3GS+, framerate is super smooth, it's addictive and fun as hell and it's got great music and sound design. Can't think of any other game on the iPhone that got me so hooked so fast, LOVE it.

Also, Bit.Trip Beat rocks too!

can anyone vouch for Doom 2 RPG? at one point i was interested in it but i didnt really care for wolfenstein rpg despite liking Orcs and Elves.

I'd recommend Osmos

Are the iphone versions of Geometry wars and Pacman CE worth getting? I've read a lot of mixed things online but would like to hear some gaffers input
geometry wrs is great, except for the controls, which in fact means it terrible

Indeed

And yes on youtube examination the framerate does look something awful :/, perhaps i shall stick to x2 or pes2010

Bought this this morning in the UK for £2.99. Framerate in game is fine (much better than those videos), but a bit choppy in intros/free kicks - note that I've not restarted my iphone4 yet, just installed and played straight away.

Looks INSANE in my opinion, I've read it's the same game as the PSP version but presumably at a higher resolution as it's clearly setup for the retina display on the Iphone4.

I never played the previous versions, but it's got a surprising amount of speech in it and stacks of leagues which is presumably taking up a lot of the space. I'm not the biggest fan of on screen dpads but it seems to play reasonably well, I'll play some more tonight but I consider it a bit of a bargain for the price!

Tbh, I've played quite some GW clones that had pretty good controls but this easily owns em, I feel liberated, these controls are just excellent to me.

Happy National iPhone Day! Or something - what is with this totally random mass sale?!

Bought Zombie Infection, eyeing a few other games too.

Good grief what's with all the sale? Companies all gathering together to drain our wallet until death?

Not all available in Australia store though...

Grabbed GW for 59p as I've been curious for a while. My curiosity is now sated: it doesn't work on an iOS device. Covering up essential parts of the screen whilst building up enough friction to set my thumbs on fire is not how this game should be played.

Edit: After indulging a little this morning, I have over 200 games on my phone. Each one bought & paid for. I think I need some help.

What a fuckingtastic awesome day. National iPhone Gaming Day indeed! Got these (and wanting some more! :lol):

rsz_170123245.png

+ Updates for Angry Birds (Retina, GC), Super Mega Worm (tweaks & new icon).

Also playing tons of games; Carcassonne, Steve Young Football, StarDunk, Tappi Bear, The Incident, Spider, Labyrinth 2, JetCar Stunts, Splodes.

HEAVEN.

My theory is that new iPhones and new iPod Touches means a flood of new users that are looking at the App Store for games. Gamecenter just launching also has achievement whores that want more games.

I wish this affected more iPad games (universal releases), as I hardly play on my iPhone any more (it is just a sad Second Gen one).

Stupid sale. Grrrr

I think Apple must be involved somewhat. I'm not calling CONSPIRACY or anything, but Angry Birds update has been in approval for aaages, and then it suddenly hits when every game ever goes on sale?

Anyway, who cares. Billions of brilliant games for me to play :)

I hate virtual d-pads so pacman ce automatically sucks.
Geowars has a demo

End of fiscal quarter. End of fiscal half year. Companies want the monies. It's been a rough year.

Square's Hills and Rivers Remain also dropped in price 4.99->1.99. Anyone play this? is it worth it?

Seems De Blob is .99 cents too.

Real Racing - $2.99
Zenonia 2 - $1.99
Hybrid 2: Saga of Nostagia - $1.99
Peggle - $0.99
Geometry Wars Touch - $0.99
Ok wow, there goes 5 more games off my wishlist. I missed out by nabbing SMB2 and Sonic 2 on their labor day sales since they are even cheaper now, oh well.

I don't even have my iPod yet (should be here any day now) and yet I’ve purchased 12 games because of sales! This is an unprecedented event, never before have I purchased a new platform and had 12 games I really wanted to play right off the bat! I’m not going to know what to do with myself.

So the only things I'm considering are Mirror's Edge & the Castlevania, everything else I'd have gotten I pretty much have already, made it through this one relatively unscathed!

Some nice cheap games there :D

Are EA planning to support game center at all? i'd buy the iphone version of shift if so.
Do you have real racing? If you don't I would recommend that over shift. I bought shift and undercover during a sale and deleted them within an hour.

all the previous games were very obviously DS ports - the only DS one i actually played was 06, but the engine in iphone FIFA 09/world cup 2010 was identical right down to the interface.

i just bought this one based on your post, so i'll confirm if it seems more PSP like!

850mb though, christ.

i bought way too much today. sale of the forever.

the one that's called "flick kick football", as you wrote it.

and FIFA 11 seems pretty phenomenal actually - it's definitely a completely different game to all the other iphone versions. haven't played it on PSP but it could well be a port.

Whut? No wai!
Well... All I can say is I love Shift and, judging by the Real Racing demo, it's much more my thing. Though I must say, it was harder to get into at first, RR does seem to be more intuitive right off the bat.

140k! currently #1 on my leaderboard! nobody actually make a concerted effort and fuck that up though. anyone who goes over goes straight to ignore and gets deleted from my friends list if applicable

Please don't put me on ignore.

(I don't know if you have wootman on your list. He just went higher.)

Edit: Also just bought

Zenonia 2
Mirrors Edge
Puzzle Agent

Any multiplayer?

awesome :o id buy it now but im still holding out for some reviews or something, ive seen 6 or so youtube vids where the framerate has been butchered midgame, that type of thing would kill it for me

Bought Final Fantasy and 9 Innings Pro Baseball 2011.

I already have many of the games on sale, but I still might pick up a few more.

These sales are insane. Dang I love iOS sometimes :lol

On this note is this the best baseball game on the app store? Id love a sweet baseball game, always good for portable gaming.

Several of those aren't on sale in Sweden :( Curiously enough it's the more expensive ones that aren't on sale. I got Osmos, seems like a pretty chill and relaxing game.

From what I've read and seen (gameplay videos) it looks pretty sweet. If it's not the best it's definitely one of the best. Give it a shot for only $0.99.

same here. I'm just going to wait for PES 2011.

the framerate drops a bit when the camera cuts to the ref giving a yellow card or something, but in actual gameplay it's definitely smooth enough on an iphone 4.

i just started a league 1 season with my beloved southampton, and i can see myself playing this enough to at least get promoted to the championship (the only way it'll happen...)

Had real racing since day 1, I know of the differences where RR is much more free flowing and shift is like a hybrid on rails racer, but I do love me some racing games.

I own the console shift so it's why I would like to see game center achievements added, give me a tiny reason to own it :P as I like earning them in games.

Hi,

I hope you're having a nice end to the summer, or a not too difficult return to class/work. Life is hard, I know :)

Let me ask you a question: would you rather say to your friends...
A) You know, I played PES 2010 iPhone yesterday, and I finished all competitions in top player mode.

B) You know, I am going to beat the hell out of you at PES 2011 iPhone right after maths lesson.

Teasing or taunting can be as much fun as playing the game sometimes, don't you think?

PES 2010 iPhone allowed you to manage the basics and make sure you are well trained and ready to face the competition that's coming in PES 2011 iPhone. Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce the hotly anticipated, the one and only PES Multiplayer!

This was the feature most requested on the 'feature wish list' section of our PES Facebook Fan Page, and there was no way we were going to ignore this. We are, as I write, working on this, our philosophy is if we are going to make a multiplayer version it has to be perfect, therefore we are working on three versions for you:

1 - Multiplayer Bluetooth seems to be looking pretty good.

2 - The Wi-Fi Local Version is dependent on the connection quality but it doesn't seem to suffer any performance issues.

3 - Online Multiplayer is a challenge we're still fighting. We?re trying our best, but if the game suffers lags and latency, we may have to forget about this. I feel it would be too frustrating for a user to have imperfect response to key inputs, and ruin all the magic moments a football match can contain.

I often try and imagine what a lag could correspond to in real life and the beautiful game. Well, you wouldn't see a player suddenly freezing on the pitch, but maybe the best representation would be to perform a perfect through ball for one of your forwards who started to run in the space in between defenders with perfect timing. And this same forward would suddenly stop running, for no apparent reason (whereas you were already ready to celebrate your goal, run around your room and shout 'who's the daddy now, who's the daddy' to whoever may listen!).

Oh, and guys, do you want a scoop? I happen to be best player of PES 2011 iPhone in the world for now. Yes, multiplayer has crowned me (against developers and artists from the studio). Once the game is out, I will try and keep this crown. Are you ready? :)

That's all for today folks!

Cheers

Axel

If they had master league in the iphone version omg id buy 6 copies just to say thanks

Somehow managed to restrain myself after only purchasing Mirror's Edge, Civilization Revolution, and Super Monkey Ball 2.

That's a total of $4 with a savings of $14.

Seriously eyeing a few more though. Hard to ignore some of these discounts.

I seriously hope they release a roomier iPhone already. This 32gb isn't hacking it when you have as much music and games as I do. No, I don't want to leave games and music off so don't recommend it. :D
