It's awesome isn't it?RavenFox said:Got my I-Touch 4 [updated from ipod] and loving it. Espgaluda 2 is *drools*. Finished it while sitting in the john lol and continued to play on the train to work. Never thought I would love touch controls in a schump so much. It just works.

Most games cap the framerate at 30 to deal with the fact that it's battery-powered hardware. 60 is the exception.dark10x said:Does the port of Final Fantasy actually run at the proper 60 fps? Tell me about it. Dodonpachi is next.SmokyDave said:It's awesome isn't it?
I 'roll' my fingertip rather than sliding and I find it second only to arcade sticks for precise control. It's a real shame that there aren't many other decent shooters out.

OMFG you can't be for real. It's Final Fantasy ONE. Are you feeling OK?dark10x said:Does the port of Final Fantasy actually run at the proper 60 fps? Would be a shame if they halved the framerate. I know, it's not necessary for this type of game, but it enhances the 2D graphics immensely.

Hah, yeah, you're right. What was I thinking. I just want a 2D RPG that runs at 60 fps.Jonnyram said:OMFG you can't be for real. It's Final Fantasy ONE. Are you feeling OK?
I have 74apps (30 games)and mine hasnt even arrived yetIkopi said:I have my new ipod touch for a week, and already I have 15+ games, amazing. The Popcap games are obviously brilliant, love flight control and angry birds. Diner Dash is pretty addicting. Even downloaded MunkySmash to help that posters brother here.

Swipe-based controls feel natural, but not quite as tactile as button controls. It's fun for what it is, which is a side-scrolling 2D racing platformer.jetjevons said:Could I get some impressions of Mirrors Edge?

Worth 2 bucks? Definitely.

Something like this:Whoompthereitis said:I was playing Monkey Island 2 on a friend's iPhone, but I found I hated the feel of the touchscreen. It's a personal 'nails on chalkboard' thing I have- the feel of touchign my fingers on touchscreens makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I grabbed my DS Stylus figuring that'd fix it, but it doesn't register at all.
I know eventually everything is gonna be touch-screen based, and while I hate the idea, I have to accept it and adapt eventually.
Any ideas? Could I cut of a homeless man's finger and use it to operate the touch screen?

I added you but to get the achievement just add a bunch of random people on the Stardunk leaderboard. They don't have to accept you... you just need to add them.AstroLad said:STARDUNK PLAYERS

I have no idea, to be honest. I just know that they're not perfect.Whoompthereitis said:Ah, I see. So it works because the stylus has a rubber tip? Forgive my ignorance, but why is it that the DS Stylus doesn't work? Would anything rubber work as a makeshift stylus?
That sounds pretty cool. Can you save 'tapes' and share them? What does the interface look like? BW grainy w blinking red light?Anastacio said:Guys, I just bought UFO On Tape for 99 cent. It uses the Gyroscope for precision control and you actually control the video, there's no graphics per se. The concept is simple, a UFO has popped up in the sky and you need to record it without losing it out of sight. The objective is to record it for as many seconds as you can and thus getting on the high-score list. Addicting game so far I must say. =)
It gets intense because birds are in the sky, and as you are sitting in a car (I think) you drive by trees and buildings and can easily lose it.
I don't think you can share or even save your plays. It's a really simple game.ivedoneyourmom said:That sounds pretty cool. Can you save 'tapes' and share them? What does the interface look like? BW grainy w blinking red light?
Others:
Geowars works well on iPad, was in the top 100 for a while for king and pacifism. Haven't really tried it on iPhone yet.
Oh, and super mega worm is awesome but I currently suck at it.
You know what else is cute? Playing a steady stream of innovative and interesting games that don't cost an arm and a leg to buy. And from time to time getting stuff that kicks the shit out of other entries in its genre on any other platforms like Dodonpachi or Espgaluda 2, or Monkey Island Remakes - again for very cheap.out0v0rder said:this thread and the last few pages are cute
Yes, I think you can authorize like 5 devices or something to share the same apps/movies/tv shows.BeeDog said:Right now, I have an iPod Touch (64 GB) that I'm using with iTunes (all games/apps I have bought/downloaded are synced to the Touch). Unlimited devices, 5 computers. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.numble said:Yes, I think you can authorize like 5 devices or something to share the same apps/movies/tv shows.

Thanks for the impressions, guys. I'm still on the fence.Struct09 said:I bought it yesterday, and I'm not really digging itIt's pretty, and the concept is cool - but the controls are a bit awkward and I'm not a fan of the way the play sessions go (not really a game I would fire up and play for a few minutes)
The true-to-life look, sounds and handling all come together to deliver something really special that simply must be played to be believed.
- Thanks to TouchArcade for the review as well.

You really shouldn't miss this game!
All iOS devices use a capacitive screen made of glass. They measure the electrical resistance from your fingers to register input. The DS uses a resistive screen, which has sensors imbedded under the plastic to measure contact where the screen flexes. The downside to resistive screens is that they look like crap, and are made of very scratchable plastic.Whoompthereitis said:Ah, I see. So it works because the stylus has a rubber tip? They also require you to put real pressure on the screen while capacitive screens register even the lightest of touches. The downside to resistive screens is that they look like crap, and are made of very scratchable plastic.

You need a special stylus that mimics the electrical resistance of your finger for capacitive screens, the DS stylus is just plastic.
