I bought Shibuya, but when I get to the menu screen, a white pop-up covers the screen and I can't do anything- anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes caused by a lack of memory. Hold your finger over an application, then close any applications on the multi-task bar. If that doesn't work try restarting your phone.

That's an OpenFeint bug afaik. Have had it a few times, no idea how to properly fix it other than re-installing the game and reboot the phone in-between.

On another note, the iPhone 4 version of Mirror's Edge kind of snuck out of nowhere didn't it? Or did I just miss it? :)

Again, both criteria together -- high production as well as specifically targeting GL ES 2.0 -- narrows the field of iOS apps down to just Epic Citadel, which is why it looks like it's in a league of its own.

Also, the resources which have gone into Unreal Engine 3 for iOS dwarf the production of the tech behind even the mobile divisions of EA or Gameloft.

Has there been any research on how many people using jailbreak still buy apps from the app store?

Would be curious.

I'm sure Apple knows or has an idea, don't expect to ever get that info, though. What does it matter to you? Are you a dev?

Anyone excited for Galaxy on Fire 2 for the ipad, looks great, like a next gen colony wars.

So long as they don't fuck up again and forget to sell a game.
Galaxy on Fire was totally fucking pointless. Neat, for the time, technology, an initial 10 mission tutorial/teaser, and then nothing. No story to follow. No real trading economy. Same 4 or 5 randomly spawning missions again and again. Blah.

Its hard to find good space shooters this gen.

Phoenix is another game on my radar

looks pretty good.

I am finally taking the plunge and buying a touch after resisting all things apple for some time. When do the new 4th generation ones come out? I can't seem to find a hard release date anywhere online.

It's already available.

Apparently Nobunagas Ambition came out a couple weeks ago without anybody noticing. Seems like it is worse than the ROTK on the App Store. Koei are complete idiots.

I'm looking for some good long lasting adventure games. Anything like Zenonia 1/2 would be great. Any type of Zelda clone would be awesome and is there anything Mario like? I mean straight up running and jumping with a world structure. Looking for more than just the typical runner though. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try Soosiz if you think you might like SMG but in 2D. Not sure of any traditional Mario clones.

I bought Across Age when it was on sale, and it appears to be somewhat of a Zelda clone. Have yet to play it so I can't say how good it is, but it looks nice.

Personally I use the jailbreak capabilities to "demo" games before buying them, even if they're only a dollar! Does anyone here do the same thing?

I wish I checked out Robot Unicorn Attack before buying it cheap. That game sucks and looks crappy on an iPhone 4!

I felt on a ipod touch 4 and it was really thin....I don't know what else to say, it surely was smaller than iphone 4 too

You guys are cheap bastards, just buy a godamn iPhone 4 and get over it jeeesh

I think I'll take the plunge when a slew of psx level (and up) JRPG's and SRPG's release.

There's a good half dozen+ now, won't be much longer till you can populate a strong list of a dozen or more games.

Been playing Pac-Chain for 2 days now- Namco's new (?) iPad puzzle/pacman hybrid. And I'm officially addicted.

So far, I'm really impressed - basically you get a grid of multicolored ghosts. Tapping 2 or more of the same color eliminates them, 4 or more triggers the bonus bar on the right where you can chain more hits before the bar runs out for big points.

Then there is the layer of pacman himself: you can control him at any time by swiping or dragging your finger. The idea is you use him to pick up fruit, pellets and power pellets. Power pellets turn ALL the ghosts blue (of course) and you can chomp away at the whole grid for a limited amount of time. Chaining power pellets nets you big points.

Presentation is really good. Music and graphics all have a nice retro feel - and the controls are great. I've read some complaining that pacman controls a little loose... But it's a very minor gripe IMO, and personally, I think he controls perfect.

One big complaint though... There doesn't seem to be any global/local leaderboards!?! This makes no sense whatsoever, since this game is ALL ABOUT score. I'm assuming Namco will patch this in... there seems to be an empty slot on the menu that would fit a leaderboard button nicely. :D

Right now my sessions last about 10 minutes, getting me to level 70+. lasting longer is going to be tough, but I'm getting better with every play.

All in all - great game and a must get for iPad owners.

The Creeps! is free today, an awesome strategy/tower defence game highly recommended. :D

Yep! Having some fun with that one.

Now I hope Crystal Defenders and Fieldrunners both get the same treatment. Already have them for PSP/PS3 but wouldn't mind having them also on the iPhone, although I'm not paying a second or third time for them :lol

Giana Sisters sounds right up your alley concerning platforming games. It's a VERY good little platformer. Even Nintendo thought it was a Mario clone back in the days...

I just ordered a v4, there is no way that the "phone" part of the iPhone4 is worth $400 CAD (plus data plan, etc) to me at all.

Across Age > Zenonia according to impressions/reviews. Runs a bit less choppy as well! There's also an HD version for the iPad, but the normal def version looks great to me on the iPhone 4!

Also, Zenonia 2 has a significantly lower score than the first (most complaints are due to the real-money in-store purchasing of weapons/armor, and bugs). Did you find it to be worse than the first one?

Is there a way of telling exactly which days you purchased content? The closest I can get is the invoice thingys, but they aren't dished out every day.

For what it's worth everyone I know with an iphone has it jailbroken. Of the 11 people, only two pirate anything on it. I give them a lot of shit for pirating things that cost 5 dollars at most. They still buy apps though, but it's rare and left for those apps that they find themselves using for a long time.

Is there anything like Advance Wars on iphone?

Check out Rogue Planet. I don't own it, but the images and reviews would have me believe it's very similar to Advance Wars. Been waiting for it to go on sale (it may have been at some time but I haven't seen it yet).

How is Warpgate?

Combat's a bit blah, but there's a fairly lengthy (so far) story to follow that literally takes you from faction to faction, and tons of missions to take on the side. Some are just your randomly generated trade X number of product Y missions, or kill Z number of enemy faction A missions, but there's a good amount of story and/or faction-based missions to accept as well, which are typically more involved and at least somewhat unique.

The trading economy is pretty robust and not too difficult to follow, and actually a viable way to make money. Reading the galactic news updates when making port makes for some good trading tips, and is generally very fun and tongue-in-cheek. Sci fi geeks will catch loads of references (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.)

Purchasing new ships and upgrading them is insanely fun. Hunting out hidden asteroids throughout the many worlds and systems is both engaging and rewarding. Each asteroid is basically worth a certain amount of cash every 5 or so minutes of real time, so the more you claim/mine, the more the money keeps rolling in, even if you're bogged down on a lengthy and not very rewarding story mission.

It's not perfect, but it gets a lot right, IMHO. One of my favorite App Store purchases, up there with The Quest, Space Miner, Rimelands, and a few others. Despite the relatively simple graphics and weak combat, I'm liking it better than Ultraviolet Dawn and way, way better than Galaxy on Fire.

Hey. Is there a way that I can go to my friends house and take some of his apps?
Like without syncing and losing everything on my ipod?

The Creeps is an awesome TD game. It's one game I paid for that went free shortly after but I don't regret it. I'm happy to support this developer.

Connect the ipad and under file towards the bottom of the list is called transfer purchases from ipad or (whatever you called it). However you will have to authorize your friend's pc to use apps, videos, music bought with your account. IF you are ok with that, you can authorize up to 5 pcs.

Wow. Rebirth ripped off the fft sound effects. Crazy.

I really like playing on the touchscreen, though. Can't wait to buy fft again. Hope they get rid of the slowdown present in the psp version.

I really don't think anybody buying apple products should be called "cheap." :lol

I'm getting the new touch. No reason for me to get a data plan and sign an AT&T contract.

Typed from my iPad.

Any impressions on the Spider-Man game that was just released?

They're NOT though. Yes you can order, but they aren't shipping yet. I asked this question before and get a similar answer, but wanted to know the actual date of shipping.

I'm taking the plunge as well and buying a 4gen Touch this week, I'm really excited. It will be my first non-Shuffle iPod in many years. They just seem to have a lot going for them now. And no, I don't want an iPhone because I use Verizon.
