Hi-tekk said:Hey quick question, I recently had my old desktop computer go bad and lost everything on it. But I still have my iphone 4 with all the games, movies, video and music on it. I now have a laptop to use so I can sync my phone up to itunes. I'm not at home now but when I go home tonight, how do I take everything that's on my iphone 4 and download it to my itunes (harddrive of my laptop)? Will itunes automatically sync everything that's on my phone onto the harddrive of my laptop for me? I hope this makes sense, I basically just want to have everything on my iphone be on my laptop now.
I think GPS should work.jamieson87 said:Hey folks, hoping you can help.
I'm from the UK and I'm going to NYC for one week. I can't use mobile data as I will be charged a fortune.
Is there any way of using the phones gps capability without using data. Is there an NYC map app that I can use?
Thanks
You can have itunes transfer all of your purchases to your computer when you sync.Hi-tekk said:Hey quick question, I recently had my old desktop computer go bad and lost everything on it. iTunes will only sync your phone with the contents of the iTunes on your new laptop. If the iTunes on your new laptop is empty, after you sync, your phone will also be wiped of all music, movies, etc.
It sucks, but it's Apple's way of minimizing piracy. You can either start again, or download a 3rd party program that will grab all the data on your iPhone, and then allow you to manually place it back into iTunes.

So you're basically saying that I can NEVER sync my phone to iTunes again because when I do I'll lose everything on my iPhone? UNREAL!! Also, what 3rd party program were you referring to when you mentioned grabbing all of the data on my iPhone and then manually placing it back into iTunes?
Doesn't the official Twitter client do that? (@username profile » More » Notification Options » Enable)numble said:What is a good Twitter client that sends push notifications when people you follow send tweets?

The buyer's guide at macrumors.com tells me that there's something coming. What is the next show Apple will do?

Yeah, I'm running iOS 5 beta and I'd rather view tweets in notification center instead of going into the Twitter app and refreshing.Sean said:iPod refreshes are always announced in September just before the holidays, that would be the most likely event for an iPhone 5.
That's only for when people mention/reply/message your twitter handle. He wants his entire timeline (every tweet) to show up as notifications I think. I know for sure that Boxcar can do that, but it doesn't update instantly and if there's more than one tweet it'll just give one of them as the notification with a "plus 5 more" at the end or something.

I'm about to get a new working visa where I live and once I do, I plan on getting a new phone. I really want an iPhone, but I was expecting iPhone 5 to be announced already and it seems like it might be announced in September, but staying 3 months and a half without a phone is something I'd like to prevent.
I know there are no official news about the iPhone 5 (right?), so this question is probably hard to answer, but.. do you guys think it would be worth it to get an iPhone 4 this year, and just go for the iPhone 6 (?) next year? Or maybe the next iPhone might include enough good updates that could make the wait worth it?...
Thanks in advance! :3
Sorry, forgot to say I'm in Japan. I still don't know much about the plans they got here, so I will go to Softbank (the company that has iPhone here) and ask them. I basically want the cheapest plan that has unlimited internet service (unlimited packages, that's what they say here, anyway).Maxim726X said:Just something to think about: The tiered data plans that will be offered in 3 weeks... If you are thinking about going to Verizon, keep this in mind.
I was thinking about waiting until September myself- Not anymore.

The screen res is already incredible, the phone captures HD video, 32 gigs is enough memory.
I honestly would need something mindblowing on the iPhone 5 to want to buy it right away.
Next-Generation iPhone With 'Radical New Case Design' Coming in August?capslock said:Seriously, what is iPhone 5 going to offer that is going to make me feel like shit that I bought an iPhone 4 this year?
http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/21...ith-radical-new-case-design-coming-in-august/BGR reports that it has received word from a reliable source indicating that the next-generation iPhone will indeed be a significant departure from the existing iPhone 4 form factor, bringing a "radical new case design" for the handset. According to the source, Apple may be preparing for an event in early or mid August to introduce the next iPhone, which would become available in the last week of August.
While Apple has indeed been giving some developers access to a device known as the iPhone 4S -- an iPhone 4 with upgraded internals -- BGR has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4 as had been previously rumored. We have been told by a reliable source to expect a radical new case design for the upcoming iPhone. We have not been given any additional details surrounding the design of the new iPhone case, though.
BGR's claims contradict a number of other reports that have claimed that Apple's next iPhone will appear nearly identical to the iPhone 4, with most improvements confined to the internals of the device. Several reports have also suggested that the new iPhone won't appear until the September-October timeframe, in line with the company's iPod-focused media event traditionally held around that time.
While BGR has demonstrated solid sourcing for Apple's iOS updates and offered some accurate information from Apple's retail store operations, the site has been less accurate with other recent claims. Recent misses include Back to School promo details and claimed MacBook Pro details

i do too, but apple tends to outdo themselves with design every time. The Big Rig said:I kinda like the way the iPhone 4 looks. But that does sound radical.
