Dumb, lazy Q:

What am I doing or pressing in SMS that I constantly keep seeing "Nothing to Undo?"

Do you have Parkinson's?

You're shaking.

If I wasn't afraid of getting fired for it, I'd so set up a wireless router in my cube haha.

Actually, that's exactly what I did on Monday.
I didn't ask, though.
Set up the router behind my monitor against a wall, added security and stopped the broadcasting of the SSID, and I'm hoping IT doesn't notice/care.

The battery now lasts almost twice as long, and downloads are general internet connectivity is like 4x faster than the 3G was. I'm in NYC, btw.

Called my local AT&T store this morning from work while taking a shit. They had the 32gb in stock. I immediately walked out of the restroom to my key carrier (I am a manager for big box retail) and told him I would be back at some point. Walked in, everything went smooth with the activation and I switched my wife to my 3G. While I was there about 10 people came in looking for the 16gb and none of them would settle on the 32gb. My manager also stopped by on his way to work and scooped one up.

For any 3G users on the fence I would say it's not even a question. The speed alone is worth the upgrade. Everything feels instantaneous compared to the 3G.

I went to the AT&T store today to check if they had any, surely they were out of stock. But I did get a chance to play around with one of the phones on display and the phone looks slick and very responsive, the display is awesome. But damn if I ever get one of these I will put a cover on it because the damn phone feels too small and fragile in my hands.

So if I wanted the best strategy to avoid any issues like the sensor or antenna, should I wait until late July to buy? I was thinking of doing that anyway to see if things cleared up or if Apple does a stealth fix on some of the problems. I want this phone badly, but since I can afford to wait a while before I make the switch I think it'll be a smart decision.

If that's what you were going to do anyway, then why not? It can't hurt to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, I recommend anyone interested find someone who has one and play with it. You'll know fairly quickly if this will be a big issue for you or not.

Moving up from 2G Touch holy shit what an upgrade. Def. worthy of being my first smart phone.

Signal attenuation thing sucks. I wait for Apple's response.

I think my iPhone 4 is faster than my 2ghz Core Duo MacBook, which is currently my primary computer. I mean, it's over 4 years old now, but damn.

So what cases you using?

I was set on the Griffin Reveal until I saw this review (the photo problem):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgJaSe9RfsI

Anything good out there?

that sucks...I actually bought that same case yesterday and don't have the flash problem. I'm guessing some of them have manufacturing defects or something that makes the backing too thick for the flash? The back of the case does seem to get scratched up pretty easily though...I've definitely noticed that.

I've been lucky I guess...all my iphone 4 related stuff has been mostly great :lol (well, the RocketFish case I tried at first from Best Buy didn't work very well...would always slip off)

pic with case
pic without case

(slight distance changes when I took the picture, but definitely not the messed up effect he got in the video)

Your iPhone uses a very different OS than your phone. Not sure if you realize that.

yeah, i'm not having the glare issue.

I didn't like the Belkin Vue because the buttons were too hard to press in the case. Felt like I was going to eventually break them by how hard you have to press to change the volume/lock the screen.

I ended up with the Bumper and InvisibleShield combo.

Honestly I could probably get away with it. I have two network ports in my cube and they dont monitor any kind MAC addresses at all. I'm even friends with the network engineer and most of the systems guys. Decisions....

I just did this...but I'm kind of OCD about certain things and it's weird just having one folder with a symbol so I might change the Folder name back to its previous one (Apple Apps) :lol
I just did the same exact thing. It was off balance so I had to change it back :lol

stopped by the att store today to get pricing details for me and girlfriend and it was a lot cheaper then i thought

with her discount from work it comes to about $65 a month...about $5 more then i pay for my tmobile (unlocked iphone 3g)...not ready to jump in yet

Anyone having trouble with the push notifications coming through with the update? I've set it under the settings and under notifications but nothing shows up.

I've always had a bit of trouble with push notifications from Facebook, even before update (it's been happening for months). Sometimes I'll open the app and I'll have two or three notifications (wall posts/comments) that just somehow failed to get thru and send push notifications. Don't know why.

Starting to freak a bit. Somehow I have already used 6mb of data. 2048 doesn't seem like a big number all of a sudden...
6MB in how long? I consider myself a pretty heavy user of the phone, but certainly certain types of activities can sap your data pretty fast.

That 1.3 gigs of usage was me tethering my iPhone to my iPad via jailbreak and running remote login software...and viewing tons of streaming porn. :lol

If I didn't go over the cap while I was doing all that, I'd feel pretty safe with a 2 gig plan with my current usage.

Trying to hold in as much laughter as possible from this post.

You've had your phone for 12 hrs and even if you did 12mb's a day.. you would only hit 360mbs out of the 2000 available.

I'm on the 200 plan. Damn proud too, being such a heavy internet/app user I am. The trick is just having WiFi access of course. Nothing like saving $180/year per phone... hell, that's the price of the subsidized phone right there in a year and a month!

Facebook app has always been a giant piece of shit, the developer behind it quit. They got the B team working on it, even tho it's the most popular app on iphone. Twitter app is light years better.

So The_Inquisitor finally got his. Am I the last GAFfer standing? My 6/15 preorder is STILL backordered. My buddied texted me this morning saying "OMG LETS FACETIME." I asked where he got his iPhone; he wandered into Best Buy yesterday and picked it up in ten minutes. Urge to kill... rising...

Yeah I held off ordering when I found out stores were getting 2 shipments a day. I knew my time would come.

Can someone help me ..

After I synced my phone with iPhoto to import all my HD videos onto my computer, video playback on most of the videos are absolutely terrible in Quicktime X. The video constantly skips every second.

So when I click Show File to try and open it in VLC instead I notice that while it does play the video fine with no skips, it is UPSIDE DOWN! And I can't flip it over.

To make things weirder, the videos that play fine in Quicktime X play right-side up in VLC. So there's clearly a connection to the crappy Quicktime X playbacks of some videos and why VLC plays them upside down.

And these videos playback fine on my iPhone 4 and in Quicklook in Finder. Any thoughts?

Damn...that all sounds totally bonkers. :lol

Haven't tried uploading video through iPhoto yet, but I'm tempted to give it a go now that you've posted all this to see if I can recreate it.

hmm, I had similar problems on my Windows PC, and it was codec related. I don't know how codecs work on Mac? They might be similar, I suppose.

For Windows, I had to redownload them and install them.

I'm up to 196mb of data. Wish the iPhone had an option to differentiate between data received on 3G and data received via WiFi., because I'm rather worried about hitting my 1GB limit.

Wifi use isn't included it is 3G only

WTF?! Are you sure! How on Earth can I be up to 200mb already! Don't think I've even used the 3G that much...The odd Facebook, webpage or youtube video perhaps...

yeah, facebook app is crap.. it is insanely popular and most of my friends publish from their iphone... but facebook doesn't see any ad revenue from the facebook app so I don't see it being a big priority.

WTF are you guys downloading?

NeoGAF app allows pics and avatars to be turned off. I turned it off for faster loading of pages, there's probably a huge bandwidth savings there.

I only really DL apps from home on Wifi or via iTunes.

Codec's for what though - iPhoto? Quicktime? VLC?

And where do I get them?

Also, the videos seem to play just fine in iMovie '09 for my Mac.

So nice having my unlimited plan. I watched both entire Deadly Premonition Endurance Runs on my phone in 3G.

That would not even be close to 2gb. I used to stream shit over my entire lunch daily when I commuted and never made it to 2 gig.

Just everyday browsing uses more than you would think.
